First apologies because I searched for it and couldn't find an English site that picked up Yaya Toure's reaction to Aubameyang winning the CAF African player of the year (the three finalists were two of them and André Ayew).

Here is his reaction on RFI (Radio France International) http://afriquefoot.rfi.fr/20160108-...ure-juge-deuxieme-place-lamentable-aubameyang and the Google translated version of it with some minor corrections from me.
Sad "," indecent "," disgrace": Yaya Toure was not harsh enough adjectives to comment on his second place in the election of the African Player of the Year. While he congratulated the laureate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Ivorian, winner of the CAN 2015, expressed his frustration: "We Africans, we do not show that Africa is important to us."
The victory of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with CAF Awards this January 8, 2016 in Abuja, caused resentment Yaya Toure. Second for the election of the African Player of the Year 2015, the midfielder has dropped the microphone of our correspondent Félix Sohounde Peperipe.
"I am very disappointed many (sic), said the one who had won the last four editions. It's sad to see Africa react in this way, it does not give importance to things African! "
Winner of the Africa Cup of Nations 2015, the Ivorian expected to be the first ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Instead, he finished second of the vote, 7 points of the Gabonese, whose the team was eliminated in the first round of CAN 2015: "I think that's what makes it shameful for Africa. To behave in this way, it is indecent! But what can we do? We Africans, we do not show that Africa is important to us. We focus more outside our own continent. This is what is appalling! "
"Even FIFA [...] would not do that! "
Yaya Toure clearly reproach Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been elected by the tecniques coaches or directors of national federations affiliated to CAF, while the Dortmund player has no trophies gleaned in 2015. "I give an example: Lionel Messi won all the trophies but Cristiano Ronaldo has the trophy (the Golden Ball, January 11, 2016, Editor's note). What would you say? It would be unfair! "
Angry, the Manchester City player attacks the Confederation of African Football, "FIFA, even with all the stories of corruption would not do that! [...] I believe that today, with what happened, CAF will go there too. "
"Africa will be the first to let you"
Asked about his future, Yaya Toure says "Yaya will look after and Yaya will let Africa get by. As I often say, do not care too much for Africa because Africa will be the first to let you down! "
He concluded, still under the influence of emotion: "When I go back to Europe, many questions will be asked. I think I'm going to have to answer. As I am an honest person, I always speak the truth. "
Yaya Toure was still careful to congratulate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in which it reaffirmed its full compliance, "You have been brilliant this year! "
Somebody should tell him that the 4 previous times he won it, he did basically feck all for Ivory Coast. He wasn't even among the best I.C players in the ACN :wenger:. Maybe a cake will comfort him

I can only imagine a lot must have got lost in translation... 'cos that is a really bizarre interview.

He sounds like a grumpy dictator who's no longer in power.

He loves a good moan; must be therapeutic for him. The feck does he care so much about an award he's won countless times.

It's so hard to take people seriously when they start talking about themselves in third person.

Heard he was 2nd on the radio, I was awaiting the reaction  I think people just do it to feck with him now. Comedy gold.

 What meltdown, worthy of the match day thread!
'As people often tell me, don't worry about Africa, Africa is the the first one to abandon you', classic.

Awards are so important to him. He feels like it's his right to win them, it's bizarre.

What a massive bitter. Definitely at the right club.

"Africa is the first one to let you down". What a cnut.

I just can't stop reading it... It's properly mental,

I mean, why is this showing that Africa isn't important? Does voting for Yaya make Africa important? What happens if you vote for Kolo Toure? Does Africa become semi-important?

They should get him a cake with 2nd on it.

After I heard the news yesterday my first thought was, Yaya has another reason to cry. Such a pussy.

Deserved win for Auba, Yaya can feck off.

Wahwah Toure

What a moron. I don't recall Aubameyang playing in the most recent CAN but he has had an excellent 2015 and deserves the award.

I just can't stop reading it... It's properly mental,

 I'm looking for the audio of this reaction. Such an important player, he should show so much more class than this.

I wonder how fair it was when previously winning it. Considering CAF CL and ACN winners were overlooked.
It's fine to be honest but not only when it suits you.

He did but Gabon went out in the group stages. Their team is utter shit bar Aubameyang.

As for Yaya, I can't believe that he's making a fool of himself on such a regular basis. Probably the biggest baby around at the moment.

What the feck is that, it's like he is talking about something completely different.

No, he's saying that even the African Federation doesn't value its own tournaments over performances in the top European leagues. If youre a main contender for player of the year and you win a Euro/CL then it's pretty much nailed on that youll win it. Yaya won the ACN but Aubameyang beat him to the title despite not winning anything.

Still a mental opinion as Aubameyang has been miles better than him.

This is a grown man who wanted to change clubs because they didn't give him a cake for his birthday...what the hell is his problem?

I have 5 year old nephews with more maturity and self awareness than this clown.

Yaya Toure's thoughts on missing out the winner for Miss Africa:

Individual awards in football can really shine a light on which players are utter tosspots.

If you asked a player if they'd rather win World Player of the year or their domestic league title, I wonder if any would prefer the individual award.
