After I saw Aubemayang won the award last night I was waiting for Toure to comment, surprised at the extent of his reaction though. I'd sympathise with him if there was a precedent for awarding it to a player who won the ACoN, but it's hardly as if in previous years he's had any problem accepting it at the cost of a member of the ACoN winning team. It's just bitterness at not picking up the award and nothing else. Although he did still congratulate and praise Aubemayang it's incredibly disrespectful, he really should have learnt by now to just keep such feelings to himself, all these outbursts do is tarnish his legacy.
You may be the only level headed City fan I have ever seen on the Internet.
Tbf even everyone on bluemoon agrees that he's a clown and should simply stay away from any microphone as it just ends in embarrassment most of the time. You may be the only level headed City fan I have ever seen on the Internet.
Oi!You may be the only level headed City fan I have ever seen on the Internet.
Moron.
Surely City fans must be getting embarrassed by his off-pitch antics. But I guess as long as he keeps trudging around the pitch with the occasional 1-2 minutes of world class brilliance per game, they won't really care.
Don't waste your breath. Once a narrative is established through repetition on the media and forums, it is almost impossible to shake it off regardless of you know ... the facts. You can apply this to everything. Wenger is naïve, Mourinho outsmarts pretty much everyone in the big games, Pep does not have a plan B, LvG stifles his players too much and yes Yaya is a lazy sod who pops in with the occasional moment of brilliance. It's not that these things are necessarily all lies but there is way more to them than the lazy narrative being spread around by pundits and embraced by fans. This is my biggest gripe when people criticise Toure, he's become a victim of his own success. Once he established himself as a dominant, goal-scoring midfielder people assume apart from when he scores or assists then he is underperforming and simply "trudging around". He is still a CM for us and his key attribute to the side has never been his goalscoring, that's always just being a substantial bonus to his role. When he is absent City suffer considerably, nobody else can do his job in the team. He gets called lazy for example in the Arsenal game but the stats showed only one player covered more ground than him, that's because he is always positioning himself for the ball and trying to get the attacking players into the game. That's his main purpose in the side and he generally does that to a high-standard in a quiet, efficient and unappreciated manner game after game. Yes, he has dipped since the 2013/14 season but only as you'd expect someone of his physicality to decline as they age, I still would not swap him for any other CM in the league (excluding age as a factor).
Strikers are usually a selfish bunch who will leave the field happy as long as they score a goal. At least the good ones, it's part of what makes them good goalscorers. Between winning a league and an individual award there probably aren't many players but there sure are some that would care.Individual awards in football can really shine a light on which players are utter tosspots.
If you asked a player if they'd rather win World Player of the year or their domestic league title, I wonder if any would prefer the individual award.

You've gotta be kidding, right?
Here are his goalscoring stats since he joined City:
2010/11 - 10 goals
2011/12 - 9 goals
2012/13 - 9 goals
2013/14 - 24 goals
1014/15 - 12 goals
2015/16 - 6 goals
A footballer that consistently gets into double figures per season goals wise is not known for his goalscoring?
He's a match winner, I've lost count the number of times he's won you games on his own from a last minute goal or two whilst pretty much being absent for the rest of the game.
His passing isn't particularly impressive, neither is his tackling. But he doesn't need to be, as he has the likes of Silva and Fernando/inho compensate in those regards.
His key attributes seem to be his drives forward and his goalscoring ability. The rest of the time he looks like a sulky teenager, especially when he's playing DMC or in a 2 man midfield. He has to be the furthest forward of the midfielders, otherwise he's not as effective.
