Zidane sack watch - 19/20

In the same amount of games for real madrid bale has scored over double zidane did, he's assisted roughly the same but most important bale has won over double the amount of major trophies as zidane.

Probably hurts a club legend to be embarrassingly outdone by a constantly injured "reject" that cant even speak Spanish.
No one is denying Bale accomplishment but that equaling Zidane being jealous of him is shortcut created from out of nowhere. Childish stuff tbh

That's nonsense. Why wasn't he jealous of Ronaldo then ? Zidane has been a disgrace in his treatment of Bale but it has nothing to do with this, and also, this comparison makes no sense as their positions were different anyway.

Zidane is probably just jealous that bale has achieved way more than he ever managed as a player.

No, he didn't achieve more than Zidane.

That's like saying Heskey achieved more than Iniesta as he scored more goals. Zidane was a midfielder, Bale was attacker.

Zidane won World player of the year award 3 times, he was runner up few times, FIFA World cup golden ball. Also won individual awards in every league he played in. He has won many more individual awards.

It's easy to finish second or third in a league where there only really is 3 top teams (Real, Barca & Athletico).
Therefore, they're almost always guaranteed CL football.

10 of Bale’s 14 trophies at Real were won under Zidane.

And regarding the stats; Bale has better stats than Xavi, Iniesta & Ronaldinho had for Barcelona. They play completely different positions so this shouldn’t even be brought up.

Not disagreeing with you but Zidane wouldn't have won those individual honours if he were Welsh or played alongside Ronaldo and against Messi.

Others won because of Zidane..not Zidane won due to the other players .. Zidane was on a different planet to Bale

Likewise Bale might not have won those CLs if he didn't play alongside Ronaldo.

Also Zidane was the best player in the teams he played in, wonder what was Bale's number in the Madrid team that won shit loads of trophies.

This Madrid side are better than the Galaticos though.
Zidane had a problem with consistency throughout a season, he would have had too many slumps in form to be Balon Dor worthy these days IMO.
Just behind Ronaldo as the best big game player in football history though.
Zidane would be closer to Pogba than the consistent monsters we have today.

We don't know what would have been the case if Zidane was playing today, we can go by what they achieved and it's not close.

Also Bale wouldn't have won world player of the year even if Ronaldo and Messi weren't playing. Has he ever finished on the podium?

Ronaldo hoovers up the votes though. He kind of absorbs the sides accolades onto himself.
A lot of that Madrid side will never receive the individual accolades they deserve.

Has (or had) the ability to I think if he had a stellar season, but totally let down by injuries means he never had a chance. Just out of interest a quick Wikipedia says Bale played 106 appearances over the last 3 years in all competitions excl internationals. Messi had 156 in comparison and Ronaldo 138 total

You’re looking at names on paper, in reality the majority of their best players are past it.
They have very little depth and almost no match winners, for a team like Madrid its almost unheard of.
This current Madrid side is bang average and they won’t get anywhere near the title in the next couple of years.

What is your problem?

It was a perfectly normal question to ask. I am curious as to which manager out of the two will last longer.

With 38k posts, I thought you were aware of how forums work. However, just for your benefit it works like this: I have to type it out so that I can try to have a discussion with someone on the internet about it. I'm not going to get anywhere if I just think about it in my head you see.

Anyway, I love Ole and want him to succeed here.

Just admit you were wrong and made a bad judgement and move on.

Did ye aye?

Zidane is the joint best coach in the world alongside Pep and Klopp right now. This thread will be fun to read at the end of the season.

Let's stay in Madrid. Is he better than Diego Simeone?

Against Ronaldo he certainly could've done. Zidane and Ronaldo wouldn't be in too disimilar positions in the all time ranking lists.

I wouldn't rank Ronaldo overall as good as a footballer as Pele, Maradona or Messi, he's in the tier just below them with Cruyff, Platini etc.

Zidane is probably a top 10 footballer.

Let’s see Zidane use some real tactics now that he can’t depend on “cross to Ronaldo and hope” anymore.

I have to say winning the CL is harder for the reason you just stated. One bad game and you’re out like City have shown. In the league you can afford to make mistakes and still win it over 38 games. Once the CL enters the knockout stages you can’t afford that.

City has won the PL several times in the past 10 years but haven't close to winning the CL. I don't see how that makes the CL easier to win.

If Tottenham is the reference you want to use for Pep's achievements, you are the first one taking them away :D

and to think many thought ZZ was the obvious get-at-all costs shoe in post Mourinho..........................

Tottenham was used because they were the one to knock Pep's city. My point was play that game again and chances are City would beat Spurs and that's why knock out games can be strange.

Similarly Madrid have won CL 4 times in the last 6 odd years but they were only the best team in the league once. In CL if you are good on that day and have luck on your side chances are you can go to the latter stages and even win the trophy. Again no way I am seeing all CL winners are lucky but for me winning a league is a bit more challenging considering you need to be consistent for most of the season.

Just released a statement as well saying the Zidane Bale relationship has broken down. Odd thing for a club to release a statement...more so if the club blocked his move because they want a fee

Awful awful club

Could you link the statement they released? I can't find it.

You might wanna provide us a link?
Or maybe you read that in your Twitter bubble.

Yeah but look at Barca, Juventus, Bayern, PSG, teams who are dominating their domestic leagues but are struggling to come close to winning it these past few years. Winning the CL is much harder because you're competing against much more teams of higher quality.

Easy there. Was breaking news on Talksport Radio. It just seemed current whilst I was...ya know...in this Real Madrid thread.

It's still an odd reference imho, because:

a) Even if City had gone through that doesn't mean they would have won CL.

b) It wasn't Spurs the ones stopping City in previous seasons all these years.

I never said city would have won the CL had they beaten SPurs. Don't know where you got that from. Point was Man city over the last 2 years have got the better of Spurs in all matches bar one which ultimately proved to be a knock out blow and that is why I referenced the spurs example.

Regarding your second point I don't understand what relevance that has to do with the original point considering I was just using last season's example.

It can be but the nature of the format means luck also plays an important part. Luck with draws, luck with refs, luck to make sure you don't have an off day on that day. I have seen on many occasion Manchester United under sir alex getting knocked out even when we were the better side. It is far more entertaining and maybe even prestigious than winning the league (we definitely should have won more than 2 times under sir alex) but I am not too sure if winning it makes you a better manager than say someone who wins the PL.

I think people in Spain will be registering El Gordo tickets with Real Madrid under a new manager.

Has a manager (of a big club) ever been sacked on the back of an awful pre-season?

They're awful without Casemiro shocker?

Surely transfer priority has to be another DM? Also can't believe they're going to rely on Modric all season, he's 34 in September. Hence Pogba interest I guess?

In the Atletico game they looked unbalanced and all over the place, lot of work to do.
