Zinedine Zidane | Resigns

Go out on top ? Since when top managers managing the best teams in the world during their early career think that way ? It's not like this Madrid isn't going to win anything in the future and this spells zero ambition or fear from taking more risks in his early career. He won't find any better job than that Madrid one, ad he has the benefit of doubt there and the love by almost everyone even Perez. Ridiculous decision.
St Pep?

Bit strange to go at this point, but of course it's better to leave while on top. Probably he either doesn't want to rebuild the ageing squad or feels he does not have the backing this would require.

The big elephant in the room now is whether De Gea will leave to join them.

Zidane protected Navas, now he is gone, Navas would probably be axed to sign De Gea.

Oh lord.

RAWK response: This is a boss move, la. Maybe he wants to be understudy to Kloppo and replace Boobac. He can teach Jurgen how to assault players without being sent off. Then we'll be proper sorted for trophies, like.

De Gea is not leaving.

Thank you. I've looked for a RM forum like ours before but could never find one. Honestly never dawned on me to look at Reddit :annoyed:

You could find some cracking stuff in marca.com comment section but they messed up with the new layout and interface.

I wouldn't worry about that. De Gea is going nowhere.

What's the general concensus among Real fans as to who they want as manager or who they think it will be?
No idea really. I hadn't thought we'd even need a new manager so soon. No clue who it'll be. What's Low up to these days? Always liked that damn ball sniffer.

Shocking decision. There's literally zero reason for that as they were happy with him. Madrid will find it pretty hard to replace him now as there're not many good managers in the market a the moment.
Not just that, but getting in the dressing room of 3 consecutive CL winner is no easy task. I meant even the best coaches (not named Zidane) in the world can't say they know it better than these players at winning. Some of these players though may need to be replaced soon for one reason or another. Now every small change would be opposed, even it may in truth be correct decision. We know Madrid board and Perez valued players before the coach so it looks like impossible job right now.

Strange to say after the feat they just achieved in recent time but I can see Madrid going into a limbo for near future, until they completely break down this serial winning squad and start from scratch with lower expectation (not low standard though. They are the team built on super stars)

Pochettino is the one linked to the club the most there's even been reported his contract with Spurs has some sort of buyout clause if Real Madrid comes for him.

Imagine Luiz Enrique does a reverse move of his playing career :smirk:

Great timing. He goes as a winner and leaves another manager to rebuild the squad. New manager will have so many problems there.
But this is not good for us. If we were interested for bale then they will not sell him before new manager comes and i doubt that he would allow bale to leave. Also de gea question is now open again

Madrid coach has no say in transfer. Even Zidane confirmed as such, and here we're talking about a highly respected and decorated Madrid player & coach.

The problem for the next coach is to be able to tame this beast of enhanced ego of a dressing room while maintaining the sky high standard, then hoping Perez providing the right transfer dealings. Every part in this, is way too out of control of the head coach. He can't lower expectation. Keeping high standard is challenge in itself. Getting along with these players is another challenge, before thinking about integrating new players having the squad accepting these new players and new ideas...

His record since he took over is pretty spectacular. I hope he stays as long as fergie did with you guys.

He always gets his subs spot on too.
Oh Vato :(

Must feel a bit similar to our last season under Fergie. Though we knew he'd be retiring at some point we didn't expect it to happen when it did (especially with him signing Zaha in January). Was a dagger to the heart.

I mean, it's just football at the end of the day but yeah, it came as a bit of a shock. Didn't expect this at all.

He's such a baller, as a player and as a manager.

St Pep, Mou, Ancelotti et al have spent their careers chasing the CL and none had ever won it twice in a row. Zizou did some youth work, got bored, took the big job and just breezed to 3 back to back CLs. Threw in a La Liga for fun and some cups along the way and now wants a summer holiday. He does what he wants.

Not to mention a damn near peerless career as a player.

I can see where you are coming from, but I saw someone post here (and I don't know if this is true or not) that Zidane never meant to be a manager, and that he was preparing for an admin role at Real when he was given the job after Benitez got the sack. The rest is, as they say, history.

He's won the World Cup and EC for his national team, he's won the CL for Real and now he's won three straight CL titles as a manager. Not much left to do unless he wants a crack at the World Cup with France later on.

I don't think that's the reason. He's probably just fearing -like some said- that the team will need some changes as most big names are growing old and he doesn't want to take that challenge of rebuilding the squad so he decided to step down fearing it can turn ugly in the next few years if he failed in doing the rebuild.
