Zlatan - Contract to be extended

For the record, there's nothing official on it yet, this is wjat José said:

"Zlatan's situation is simple: he has a one-plus-one year [contract] with the club and we are happy with him," said the manager, when asked about Ibrahimovic's future.

"He is happy, committed and loving his life as a football player at Man United. This is probably the last big challenge of his football career, so it is perfect for him to be here."

Considering hes just ended the worst goalless draught in his last 10 years and STILL he is 6 in 11 in the league and 5th in the charts? hes done quite well and probably will end up top three with 20+ goals in the league.

Reading some of the posts turning their noses up at Zlatan's extension, I almost think we are signing either Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Ronaldo or Griezmann.

The irony being that three out of those five earn less than Ibrahimovic.

We have three of the highest paid players in the top 10 of world football, and two of those are arguably passed it.

There's something very wrong at a club where guys like Ibrahimovic and Rooney can earn more than players like Neymar, Suaraez and Bale.

FFS

Jose gets himself ready for a press conference about the forthcoming game against Feyenoord and is asked a leading question about a throw away comment made by one of his players while receiving an honour in a star studded TV spectacle hosted in a different country.

The English press continually put Jose in impossible situations where if he answers one way he's reported as being overly optimistic and if he answers the other way he's reported as being overly defeatist.

He will either be beaten over the head in the next morning's press about expensive club purchases and the extortionate wage bill (as if these were ever in his dictate) or by a results-hungry media demanding immediate results or an overly ambitious expectation that can never be achieved. Either way this dissemination leaks down to the populist "fans" :smirk: and rivals and all hell breaks lose on social media!

I can accept social media … but here? REALLY?!

Having been asked he stated that the option for a one year roll-over was still on the table and if things stay as they are it will be picked up. Zlatan confirmed the possibility and also confirmed it has not even been discussed.

Fact-check people!

Not got a problem with his contract being renewed. Quite glad we're still showings signs of strengthening the squad whilst having a slight slump.

I do find the timing slightly odd, but as long as he finds form again.. i don't care about the timing!

From a purely footballing perspective I don't see the point, but that's not the only reason we buy/keep players these days is it?

Thank you, well said!

I agree, the football press is rubbish. Sensationalist. Hyperbolic. Fantastical. Fictional. And don't get me started on social media!

And you can even scrap the word football in your sentence. But that’s another story for general forum.

earlier this week he was talking about how he wants to conquer the mls. Maybe he should try and conquer the premiership before he thinks about conquering anywhere else. At this stage he hasn't had the impact we thought he would have. He's scored against poor teams so far including a penalty, been pretty absent in any of the big teams we have played, although in fairness to him the team hasn't looked great as a whole in those games.Worth noting our best performance last week v Arsenal was without him in the team. No problem him being here or in fact staying here, but he doesn't have to be an automatic starter, he seems to play every match when he is fit in the league. Can someone else hit a free kick once in a while, so far his attempts have been woeful

Agree entirely. Why not give Pogba the chance ? He has power, the skill to bend it and can cause it to dip. My impression is that as Ibra is top dog, he gets to choose.

This is a typical game from him, slow to static movement off the ball, slow on the ball, tries the exuberant constantly, which rarely pays off and gives away possession far too easily.
Please don't extend his contract, certainly not on the money he's currently on!

And assist. Typical Zlatan.

I'm not saying he's not going to get assists and goals but he's not good enough now let alone this time next year (as a starter).

Excellent target-man to have on hand, but we should be going all in for Greizman

A front 4 of

Greiz - Rashford - Martial- Mhki

Not that you need Emile Heskeys in the current PL, but that looks pretty light and short to me.
