He's not going to Copa America though

No but he's played in the Gold Cup, by the time that finishes it wont be long till all the players are due back and after his comments regarding Hernandez last season I can see Fergie giving him an extended break

Nope Chicharito will miss most of pre-season also, so swap him for Berbatov
Why would Chicharito miss most of the pre-season? His Mexican commitment is over this coming Saturday. He's not going to Copa America.

Even if he were playing in the Copa America, you can bet he'd at least make token appearances on the US tour, as his marketing potential is absolutely huge here, what with 40 million Mexican-Americans. But given that he'll have nearly a month off, I can't see any way that he'd miss the preseason.

As for Valencia, Ecuador are in a group with Brazil and Paraguay, so his tournament might be short-lived, but will still be going until at least July 13.

Antonio Valencia's Italian agent has played down talk linking him with a move to Juventus. #MUFC

What talk?

Nani, Valencia, Park all linked with move to Italy, what loads of shite....

Agreed new 4-year contract.

"He has [agreed a new deal] and we are in the process of finalising that. He's been away at the Copa América and we've been here [in the US], but it's broadly sorted out and should be announced next week when we're back. Antonio initially signed for four years, so he's got two left. The length of the deal will come out as and when, but it's a longer-term deal" - Gill.

Manchester United news Antonio Valencia agrees new contract set keep him at Old Trafford until 2015 - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk

Great news, also intersting I was under the impression we now had a policy of renewing players in the final year of contract no? If we are back to negotiating with 2 years remaining it can only be good thing.

Anyone know if that was the case with recent club policy?

It has been said that he could play central midfield as well.

Good to have someone who could play right back, right midfield or right wing to step inside and helm the central midfield, if required.

So with that, possible candidates to play in the centre are:

1) Anderson
2) Carrick
3) Fletcher
4) Giggs
5) Park
6) Rooney - full of controversy
7) Valencia
8) Cleverley
9) Jones
10) Gibson (if not sold)

Do we really need another midfielder?

Add Fabio, Rafael, Smalling, Ferdinand, possibly Vidic and Young to that list, anyone could be converted. We have like 15 midfielders it turns out. Yay!!!

Why have we signed Young then? We have Obertan, Park, Giggs, Nani, Valencia, Cleverley and Rooney who can play on the wings, why another one?

Why have we signed Jones? We had Evans, Ferdinand, Vidic and Smalling for the CB spots, no need for a fifth one.

Don't forget the twins for the wings (they played there against Arsenal in the FA Cup) and Evra and Carrick for Centre Back.

New players coming in and performing above expectations, or just generally players who have made themselves more important to the team than their previous contract indicates, have always been bumped up ahead of schedule. It's only smart to reward players who deserve to be.

Yay! Who needs another player when we have at least 11 players to play for 11 positions in our squad.

Great news this, he's been great since joining and fully deserves a new deal.
