UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

As all this goes on the Cops are trying to deal with the every day to day Policing of the City too.

All those domestics, assaults, rapes, missing persons, robberies, suicidal people and other crimes don't all just vanish whilst this goes on.

Sky seem to be firmly trying to lay the blame at the feet of the police.

I'll ask again, who are the people doing it? Are their families not wondering where they are?

If you had kids would you let them out while its going on?

Some parents just won't give a shit, others will have tried no doubt. But there's only so much they can do at the end of the day.

This is probably a dumb question, but why is no one attempting to put that blaze out? Theres just one fire engine sitting there. Do they just let it burn itself out?

probably get attacked by idiots if they tried to put it out

Yes. Thanks to the recession, the local fried chicken shop shut down and it caused all this!

That's racist.
probably has something to do with it. I bet most doing it will not be doing so because they reckon there was an unjust shooting. They see the 32 inch tellys going by and join in

Yes. I'd have joined in....I've always wanted to take part in one these types of events. I'm all for people seeing and taking.

Free stuff and a chance to take a crack at the Old Bill......who wouldn't want to join in.

Cameron is chairing a COBRA meeting?

If anyone's in Croydon at the mo...please can you nick me a dreambox and 3DTV?

... and does anyone think that might be the problem?

You can bet if the police rolled in and started knocking seven bells out of those responsible the parents would be the first to complain.

I bet they don't burn the dole office down.

edit - do they still have the dole offices?

I'd say Cameron is secretly delighted.

At least no ones talking about Rupert Murdoch anymore.

BBC News helicopter is moving away from Croyden and back to Peckham, not sure yet what has happened.

Scumbags the lot of them.
If that's the youth that England has to look forward to then your fecked.

It's like some serious shit that goes on in the Middle East there. I can't believe what I'm watching.

It wouldn't surprise me if there is a serious move to ban hoodies and face masks after this, there was a desire in Parliament following the student protests last year to do it.

Me neither. It's a form of public disorder that I feel is beyond the control of the police - and that's pretty scary

I am hoping and praying that Camberwell is not hit. It's quite distressing. All the targeted places are extremely near me

When the riot happened in Los Angeles in the early 90s, the rioters were setting fires to lure in firemen and police, who they would then attack. Pretty common tactic in this situation, I believe.
