UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

It's an example. Things like youth clubs are mainly things for the youth of tomorrow. For the kids who are already 16/17 then you need to take a different, harder approach I feel.

But to stop this from happening in the future, you NEED to give the younger generation things to be proud of. Offer more activities in school, get them focused on their future etc.

I honestly believe that school needs to be an extra hour or two, and those hours teaching kids to be proud of themselves instead of just education.

I also believe that school holidays should be no longer than two or three weeks at a time.

Police order all london football clubs to call off matches - Sky News.

Maybe if they did this shit wouldnt be happening

And maybe if they did this country wouldn't be any-fecking-where near what we are right now. You think shooting rioters in places like Mumbai would work over here? Atleast over there the rioters are out to kill. Shooting people just out to cause trouble is a complete overkill

world war 3 kickin off in camden. every shop and pub gettin smahed in. can't even get onto my road. all the little hoodies in the area thinkin its funny to cause riots and smash up their own area. theres over 20 meat wagons and people still gettin away with it. think its time to go travelling. this country has gone down hill big time.

Going right off where my cousins live, my little cousin though is out and his phone's switched off. Pretty worried atm.

This is actually spreading not just all over London, but to other parts of the Country too ffs!...The government have been a total and utter fecking disgrace so far. They need to pull their fingers out and do something. This is utter utter madness.

The Police are clearly trying their best, but need some fecking help.

White Riot, police and thieves, london's burning, guns of brixton....These riots have put me in the mood to listen to The Clash.

Some guy on Sky saying they're now trying to break into houses. Sickening.

Agreed. Like I said elsewhere  if you take out watercannons and plastic bullets here, 20 years down the line we will have the deaths of innocent protesters.

The army being called in doesn't equal shooting people. The presence alone would help contain these arseholes rather than having a stretched police force having 20 coppers stood there not able to do anything because they are so outnumbered.

Ealing is my home. I hoped this wouldn't happen here because this area isn't supposed to be as bad as North and South London.

Ealing's been crap for ages. I remember we had this discussion in that thread after the policeman got stabbed in the neck. I hope you're safe anyway.

No. You must understand that using such devices would most likely injure the protestors.

It's weird that you said you'd get out a tissue sarcastically earlier when you sound like you're on the verge of tears. Let it all out.

my mate just told me that about 20 men just fecked up a casino he was at in West Brom. He also said they attacked a children's Hospital and Temples!!! shit is messed up!

Yeah, they need things to believe in. And that can only come from schools. Teachers need to be role models, too. Give kids something and someONE to believe in.

I've got attacked by 10/15 14 year olds with metal bars before. I was 18 and with about 7 friends, and it was very scary. Honestly it wouldn't have gone well had one of their mums sped up slammed on the breaks and screamed at the kids for not being in school.

What an unbelievable spastic that BBC reporter was.

this is a tweet from a Sky reporter in Birmingham

Left Bham now, just b4 we did a lad walked up to us saying - what a great day, I asked why, he said lots of free stuff! So sad

Dickheads.

Things have calmed down in Birmingham City Centre now, however, Handsworth seems to be seeing a lot of trouble.

This seems to be the common theme, as soon as one area calms down they move to another area.

I agree. But he was implying they should shoot on the protesters. Which is both fecking barbaric and pointless.

another mate just told me that it has reached Manc according to Twitter!! fecking hell!! i hope they don't wreck the curry mile!!!

My cousins live there, he says its kicking off on his rd, channel 847 is a punjabi channel they are driving down showing stuff and talking to people

I'm not sure they are all staff reporters, some real clowns over the course of the day.

He pushed the boat though, a crazy lack of sympathy or tact for someone having lost so much and in such an emotional state.
