West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester United

Well he is only 20.

And for a keeper that is too young. Not saying he is a bad keeper.

I am not making any conclusions or criticism based on that goal.

Don't you think GK is our weakest position this season? We had VDS last season there.

But we're not a club where a keeper can take a season or two to learn. If we're going to challenge in England and in Europe, every match is important.

We need a keeper who can earn us points during the season, not cost us points. It can be the difference between winning trophies or winning nothing.

come on 40 mins in to the season and already the keeper is getting roasted.
OK so it was a bad mistake , but give him time.
VDS and big Pete made worse mistakes

Exactly. Van Der Sar made a far worse mistake last year against West Brom than De Gea did there. Yet some people are saying they miss Van Der Sar.

It is his first league game. He will take time to adjust to the language, the style, his team-mates, etc. He is going to become one of the best keepers in the world.

The positive thing is we are always threatening when we go forward.

Welbeck has been quite and DDG has been a bag of nerves.

On the plus side Cleverley looks class.

People should be patient and get behind our young players

Trial and error. That's all there is to it. Now stop fannying around and get those legs running again. Nani and Wayne especially!

HT
some great football. shit scoreline
keep it up and we should be fine

At times maybe but he's struggling to get on the ball. Hasn't seen as much of it as Anderson.

Welbeck has been very poor, unfortunately. I think Berb needs to come on.

Well...DGG needs time to get used to the pace of the premiership that is for sure. It really does take time.

 what? as a GK when a ball is coming towards you and you have to dive and save it, the 'pace of the league' has nothing to do with it IMHO

Just need the half to end and SAF to have a quiet word with De Gea to settle his nerves

Well Gary Neville must have been watching that teeming with jealousy....

He could never grow a beard like De Gea.

De Gea will settle, it's his lack of English and the affect that has on his communication with the defenders that gives me the most concern and that will soon resolve itself once his English improves.

Fwiw DDG did brilliantly to keep that cross/shot out near the end.

VDS made a worse error against WBA last season iirc. Let him blend in, into a new team/league and level altogether before you jump to season defining conclusions.

Man you just dont get it!

"GK is our most vunerable position this season because of the inexperience"

I don't see anything wrong with that statement. De Gea is young and understandably will be nervous. He will take some time to settle down. And its a position where one mistake could really cost you the game.Just a bit of common sense.

We should win this but the goalie really needs to sort himself out because the defence is visibly worried about bringing him into the game because of his indecision and positioning. He constantly looks like he doesn't know if to twist or stick. Its dragging the whole team backwards. He just needs to put his stamp on this.

We've been spoiled with VDS. You can't expect DDG to slot in at his age like he's been here for years. A mistake borne out of nerves.
