West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester United

will someone explain what the feck happened instead of just either saying De gea is shit, or that he will come good?

A weak shot from the side found its way to the back of the net at the far post even though it looked like De Gea had like 5 minutes to save it. Yet he made sure to dive AFTER the ball passed him, while he could have saved it with his arm rather than his hand had he dived 1 second earlier (what any mediocre keeper would have done)..

I hope I wasn't too harsh on De Gea..

Ashley Young is having a very good game. Cleverley and Anderson doing well. Welbeck needs to improve and Nani and Rooney needs to be more involved in play. De Gea scares the hell out of me, gives me a Barthez vibe atm. But he is young and learning and need some basic goalie coaching.

Defense seems a little exposed with no-one sitting infront of the back four, it's ok having a barca-esque approach but we have no Busquets killing the play in the middle IMHO.

Our attacking play is beautiful at times however.

We've lost our way at the back and up front. Three subs at HT again?

Friendlies aside when is the last time SAF used three subs at HT. I have watched his teams for 30+ years and he rarely uses one sub at HT.

Plus were are laying some pretty good football.

Positives: Our attacking play is brilliant. Cleverley, Rooney, Young, Anderson, Nani and Welbeck play with such slickness it's been sublime to watch

Negative: Despite that, we've only had 1 shot on target. Nani should have made it 2-0 really.

Another mention for Cleverley though, who has been, once again, sublime. Anderson has stepped it up a notch too.

Big blunder by De Gea but, that stemmed from Fabio giving away the ball at the half way line. Ridiculous.

Too bad Nani didn't finish two decent chances he had. We are playing well and if we continue like this can get the 3 points - actually I know we'll win. Come on United !!!

I don't think anything can be said about that mistake from De Gea. No supporting him this time. It was his fault.

Steele will get the better out of De Gea. He is young and settling in. Everyone makes mistakes, it is how you learn and become better.

Good first half. Some brilliant football.

Rooney ,Anderson, Nani were good.Cleverly came into it too. Young is not a very good crosser. Welbeck has been average.

De Gea! well spilled water on an excellent half by us.

He hardly ever changes things until after the hour....it's long been a frustration of mine, but it's definitely his way.

Listen, if DDG needs time etc to settle into his surroundings/language, etc then he should be 2nd choice and blooded in.....this will cost us if this stays this way this season

nani was a bit causal with his shooting, a bit annoyed we let them back in it...

De Gea is going to be a top class goalkeeper. He will need time to adapt to the language, the style and also his team-mates. We need to be more patient.

As some have mentioned previously, Schmeichel struggled initially but he was given the time and look what happened there.

Van Der Sar made a worst mistake against West Brom last year yet some people are saying they miss him. He made plenty of mistakes.

De Gea will need time. He will end up class.

20 years old, less than 60 games for Atletico Madrid in the top flight, new country, foreign language, new teammates, few trainings due to the Spanish teams commitments, playing in arguably the most difficult position for an inexperienced player, and some of us starts whinning about his mistake?? FFS, get behind the lad. He's part of our longterm future and will gain experience alongside some mistakes. Big fecking deal.... if we don't win this, its due to a lot more reasons than just DDG's mistake.

ps: Welbeck has been shite and Nani's finishing cost us 2 clearcut goals.. *** see any blame attached to these 2

Anderson and Cleverley a bit naive at times when it comes to picking up players. And Nani really should have scored.

i know its only the first game, but we better win this, we got some tough fixture lists coming up.

I hope De Gea hasn't been getting a pasting, he's pulled off 2 super saves too.

He's replacing one of the best keepers in the world in one of the biggest clubs in the world in the biggest league in the world, I hope people don't expect him to be as good as VDS out of the box...

And Rooney was 17 when he signed for us. Everyone is different...even Spaniards.

GKs peak at a much older age. That is generally why we have seen many GKs over 35 performing at the very highest level over the years. The pressure of being a starter at United will either make him or break him very early on.

Fingers crossed he can cope with the mental stresses of the position because he obviously has the talent.

it's very easy to blame the goalkeeper for his mistake, but Nani missed an absolute sitter. if we continue playing the way we are and take our chances we will win this one no problem!
