West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester United

Some of Young's crossing has been 'meh' considering the position and space he's found himself in quite a few times.

On the positive side, he's getting into those positions.

I think he has played really well. Some lovely touches and link up play.

People are gonna jump on the goalie but the fact is it's going to take time to replace someone like VDS. We should be looking at what led to the goal, yes he was at fault, but no it doesn't mean everyone has to have a little tantrum towards him. Fabio should have been more aware and we need some cover in midfield, possibly even playing Jones in a DM role, or Pogba.

Jamie Redknapp is positively giddy that De Gea's finding it difficult.

I hope De Gea hasn't been getting a pasting, he's pulled off 2 super saves too.

He's replacing one of the best keepers in the world in one of the biggest clubs in the world in the biggest league in the world, I hope people don't expect him to be as good as VDS out of the box...

Unfortunately that goal cancels out any great save. That's life as a goalie. I feel sorry for the guy because the pressure is clearly getting to him. I wonder what it will take until Fergie gives Lindegaard his big chance.

Listen, if DDG needs time etc to settle into his surroundings/language, etc then he should be 2nd choice and blooded in.....this will cost us if this stays this way this season

But he will only get the time to settle in from playing.

If he was making mistakes in practice then am sure he wouldn't be starting.

The problem isn't how fans react to De Gae it's the fact every premiership club will target him now...he'll have more long shots coming in, people pressurising him from set pieces...it could turn into a bit of a nightmare.

Games like this is where Rio and Vidic need to step up and help protect De Gea more. He's not VDS and they need to try and nullify his weaknesses until he's confident enough.

This.... our centrebacks have been dire dealing with the high balls. They should do a lot more, considering a young gk is making his debut. In fact, i think Vidic should make way for Evans, as he seems to be struggling with an injury.

As the cliche goes De Gea needs to bulk up.

Its not his body its his mind I'm thinking needs work. He needs to decide when he's coming and coming, decide when he's staying and stay, dive when he wants to dive etc. He seems really, really nervous at the minute and I think if he doesn't hesitate in his mind about how to deal with Long's shot he gets down to it and makes the save simple cos for a goalie with his shot stopping ability that should be food and drink. We saw it when he made the point blank range block. When he has to rely on instinct De Gea's quality surfaces but when he's got too much time to think about what to do he gets in muddles.

I hope we stick with De Gea for the next few games regardless of how he performs.

Some of our passing has been a real joy to watch, shame we couldn't regroup after their goal.

Actually this is a good point. Neither one of Ferdinand or Vidic have distinguished themselves in this match, same as last Sunday.

He's back from Russia midweek so Jetlag perhaps ... what's Rio's excuse?

vidic seem to be injured, wonder if that affected his performances.

and he'll either rise to it or he won't. He dos though to me (pardon the cliche) look like needs to bulk up.

The defence has been very shaky this afternoon which can't be helping De Gea. Not defending him for the goal we conceded but the back 4 are not sending any confident messages back to him. West Brom found it too easy to get to our box far too many times in the first half.

This is a new team, and very very young. We could still lose this one, but my god there are some exciting days ahead. Lovely football, but inexperience cost us with needless mistakes and lack of composure. Not only DDG, but missed sitters from Nani and a couple of defensive brain farts from Fabio.

Unfortunately a ridiculous number of our goals conceded can be traced back to FB mistakes. Evra is very charitable to the opposition at times. This might be the case for all teams but I really notice it when United play.

I was worried before the game about lack of protection Anderson and Cleverley would provide and still am. Haven't seen much of Welbeck / Nani either. Hope we see Berba soon.

Vidic is quite laboured and that choi is a battering ram.

It's been 2 low shots that have done him so far, with the mid height/high stuff he's produced some good saves.

I read that a few Everton fans want Phil Neville stripped of the captancy because he's watching us.

I don't think we should expect ourselves to lose to a side like west brom, no disrespect to them.....

Craig Burley grating anyone already btw? He really is terrible.

Only real game changer here would be Jones midfield I'd guess in this regard ... Carrick at a strech.

the defense are not protecting de gea enough, especially the one where de gea has to make that great save. the goal conceded was a big mistake by him though, although i thought the ball took a slight deflection of one of our defender.

de gea looks clueless at times, he need to sort himself as quickly as possible now.
