Phil Jones

If he was black we'd all question his age [/racist]

Amazing to think that he's got at least 15-16 years left at the top flight barring injuries

An even more racist post.....'.if he was nigerian we wouldn't even bother to..' :)

I'm struggling to find faults in his game, except his finishing (which we haven't seen much of).

For a central defender at heart that's absolutely incredible. He's still so young but he's got that whole "leader of men" aura about his game already. I totally understand why we let O'Shea and Brown go with such talent to take their place.

I loved the moment where he had a go with someone for not making a move towards the ball for a throw in he was taking.

Such an impressive personality for his age

He is brilliant. I actually commented before the game (on Twitter) that I was surprised to see him starting at RB ahead of Smalling/Fabio.

I'm never questioning SAF ever again. Even if he starts Evra in goal.

Back to Jones though, he was amazing going forward. His run before Rooney's second in particular.

What a player. 19 years old and he looks like a veteran already.

He's got everything and will only get better.

Future captain material for both United and England.

Loved the way he soaked up the praise after his run for Rooney's 2nd. Proper Man United player.

Not losing out on Smalling and Jones to Arsenal and Liverpool are among our best deals in recent years.

Absolutely immense performance today, looks so comfortable on the ball. What a talent!

On the down side i was a little concerned by how many crosses came in from that flank, credit to jones for still playing so well from that position but a RB he is not.

With Stoke coming up i would be very concerned if they had half as many balls coming into our box against them, as Bolton had today.

For me now Evans is injured i would have Jones back in the middle alongside Rio, with Smalling back at RB. I think Jones will get even better over the next few weeks, if he has a chance to play regularly with a player of Rio's class and experience. Watching Jones today it is difficult not to get carried away, but for me Rio is still the best CB in the world when he is fit, yet Jones already in my view looks so much better than Rio was at the same age.

If he keeps on developing this quickly, and takes what i think he could from this opportunity to play with Rio over the next few weeks, Vidic could possibly struggle to get his place back.

Who would have ever thought we would be looking so immense, with so many incredibly talented options at our disposal all over the pitch, at the end of last season?

Really impressed with him going forward
Thought he had a bit of trouble with Petrov, but there was enough there to show he could easily play RB for us, which is nice.

Good game, is already a fantastic player.

And I don't think he/Smalling would have been so easily caught out by Hernandez, Cahill hadn't got a clue where he/Hernandez was

:lol: Yes that was hilarious, Cahill didn't know which way to look. Very impressive from Hernandez today, movement was incredible considering it's his first start.

How about Jones assist for Rooney's goal? He reminds me of a young Laurent Blanc, only with more pace!

Have to disagree on the RB issue, for me a competent RB stops crosses coming in, Petrov got too many in today for my liking. What Jones proved today is he has the talent to play well anywhere. Jones is wasted at RB in any case, he has simply got to play in the middle with Rio while Vidic is out, he will learn so much, it would such be a waste not to get maximum benefit from Rio's return and Vidic's absence.

I would much prefer Smalling at RB especially against Stoke, i can say with some certainty if that many crosses come in our box against Stoke, De Gea will be in for a much more difficult afternoon. :nervous:

He's so good there's a soda named after him.

SAF mentioned in his post-match that Jones could play anywhere, including midfield... who knows, maybe your muppet dreams of Jones in DM will be answered one day!

Got to be worth a go though, don't you think? We only really have Carrick as a proper DM in the whole squad. It's probably our weakest area and Jones looks more than comfortable on the ball, i personally think he would be an very useful asset to us in that position, especially when Vidic comes back!

One of those players other teams are angry and envious not to have gotten. Liverpool and Arsenal certainly missed out.

Jones is something else really can see him playing anywhere he likes.. the lad is GREAT! what a run today for wazzas 2nd

He's too complete a player to be in defence IMHO.His long term position will be midfield. Partly because of the potential of Evans-Smalling, and partly because of his completeness as a player.

Sure I'm up for it... I even once wanted to see Ferdinand as a DM (and even got my wish for one match against... Wolves I think? In the FA Cup? SAF never tried it again though  )

I kind of like the 2 man midfield for now though, it's given us 18 goals in 4 games, who knows, we might not be so fluid in attack if we shift to a 3 man midfield.

Blackburn iirc. Bentley got a hat trick so i think the conclusion was that it didnt work.

Ok could it have been two games though? I'd like to take a punt that the game before that was against Wolves. If not, I'll admit defeat.

He played there against Wolves - Rooney was his midfield partner!

Yes, I was right! The game before, a 3-0 victory in the FA cup. Didn't watch the 4-3 against blackburn at the time because of work (thank god).

A lot of days last year when he was at Blackburn. Not sure why you are talking about it as a muppet dream when he's played the majority of his premier league experience in a DM role in front of the defence.
