Berbatov | Fulham player

Spastics, I gave a very fair assesment of his time on the pitch.

He missed an easy chance. Not on Torres proportions, but easy none the less.

Should have buried it even if Rooney fecked the pass up, didn't get it clean enough. Still he showed his quality in helping us maintain control, that one touch quick passing was on evidence and he'd fit right in with that style.

Really happy to see him come on today. If Hernandez is out for long, he will be crucial to how we do as he was last season.

There was a thread a few days back about which player doesn't suit our new style and while a lot of us said Berbatov, he is technically magnificent and has great vision so on second thought I think he can do the Rooney second striker role well with us playing the same way. But he'll have to adjust and possibly be a little more robust in his play and get up and down the pitch with a lot more gusto.

Rooney over-hit the pass and left Berbatov with a difficult angle that Ashley Cole closed down very well. It was a great chance but Berba didn't do much wrong.

Anyone who's played football knows that that's not an easy chance. It had been if Rooney had not fecked up the pass.

Even SAF said so just now. 'Bad pass from Wayne, difficult for him to connect'.

It was a poor pass from Rooney but he should have done better with it.

Yep. Not a sitter by any means with the way he was forced to hit the ball while falling away but he's good enough to get a good connection on that.

I give up with you lads. I would have said it was a dreadful miss no matter who it was.

And of course Fergie will defend a player who is short on confidense

Replay showed how he didn't get quite a clean foot on it - that split second made the difference in Cole getting there. I am the last person to deride Berba - he could have done better though. As I said - he showed though he is quite capable of playing some quick one touch footie - a few times was part of just pinging the ball around making Chelsea chase us and at the same time run down the clock.

Overhit pass from Rooney, not much else Berbatov could do with it.

Berbatov did well coming on. slowed the game down and helped us keep possession..

It wasn't that easy of a chance, Rooney fecked it up with the weight of the pass. Of course, he probably should of scored, but nothing looks quite as bad when it's done in the same match as a certain Mr Torres partakes in.

Exactly. This place is pathetic some times.

Opinions seem directly connected to whomever the flavour of the month is currently. God help the bloke if it'd have been him that slipped and missed the pen.

Tbf it's only one guy who is being a fecking Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime in this thread.

Torres miss was far worse. Berbatov at least the man stopped it on the line.

The problem was the lack of a good connection.

If anyone criticises to say it should have gone in - look at Ronney's 'miss; 2 yards in front of goal that hit the post!

No silly gestures, helped run down the clock and unlucky he didn't score because Rooney botched a pass. Not sure why he warrants complaints:confused:

Yeah, it wasn't actually as easy as people are making it out to be. Also, Remires' wasn't all that easy either. He just shouldn't have been the one striking the ball.

Right Berbatov came on changed the game with his sexy touches. Was given the worst ball ever seen by rooney in a near impossible angle. Did well to get it on target.

Read my post again. I said it was a dreadful miss. If it wasnt dreadful what was it? A bad miss? So in your eyes the only thing I was wrong about was a slightly harsher word than bad.

Sue me.

He had time to control it if he wanted, and then struck the ball with his heel instead of sidefooting it. Of course it was a dreadful miss because he mishit the ball completely.

It was far from a dreadful miss, he should've done better but Rooney over hit the pass and Cole made a good interception.

Also, I apologize for calling you a Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.

I don't think he looked short of confidence at all, which was the pleasing thing. Would've been great if he'd got a goal so our first four strikers had all gotten off the mark early on, but it'll come. Wasn't a dreadful miss at all, out of our entire strikeforce I'd only have expected Chicharito to finish it. Rooney's pass was just that little bit off and it made all the difference, stopping him from running right onto it and tapping it in and forcing him to check. Showed a nice bit of pace to get there too, I thought.

He had ten minutes on the pitch for goodness' sake. Didn't see him lose the ball once in all that time and he had a lot of it. And sure, he missed a difficult chance that we have seen him convert before but the pass should have been better. Give him a break! He will probably get some good game time over the next couple of weeks so get behind him.

Indeed, a SAF quote from post-match: Berbatov's miss was due to a bad pass [from Rooney] but the miss of Torres of course was unbelievable.

Wayne Rooney has only actually scored 1 countable goal this season. The others weren't winning goals. #theberbatov2010/2011rule

Just saw that on twitter. It's true to be honest, nobody is questioning Rooney's goal tally right now.

Today gave the lie to the notion that Berba is too sluggish for the new tika-taka United. He was working it around beautifully. It was always a daft claim. The man's touch is among the best I've ever seen.

He slowed the game down completely. I felt frustrated watching us change from a high octane attacking force to one that went forward only to retreat back because Berbatov has no pace and can only lay the ball off. I think his style of play quite obviously doesn't suit our new look team.

Berbatov did well to even get a shot on target, it was an over hit pass from Rooney

he hit it with his heel so he actually over runs it no? if he got there too late he'd have hit it w/ his toe. crap pass crap finish.

:wenger: stick to skiing, gimpo

;)

yeah he could have struck it better but it was an awkward chance to take

pass did take him too far away - rooney should have chipped the fecker. and berba did nothing wrong in fact he's the perfect guy to come on - hold it up , control it etc. perfect.
