Everton vs Manchester United

Fryers ready to make the step up to the first team squad?
Not suggesting he'll be first choice anytime soon, but wouldnt surprise me if he started training with the first team on a regular basis now.

But then, I though Ecks could make the step up and he struggled to get games after he left us

Young is a doubt with a toe injury so that probably means it'll be Valencia on the right again. Not sure he'll have too much joy vs Baines

Bloody hell, talk about underrating Valencia. Baines is a good attacking full back but Valencia's good enough to give him a torrid time without playing at his best.

Valencia destroyed Baines last season..I remember one incident when they were competing for a ball, and Valencia's strength and sheer power sent Baines flying.

Especially when Tony tormented Baines just few months ago at Old Trafford.

To be honest, I can understand wr8 in a way. If Valencia plays as he has been playing recently, he might not have much joy. But, if he plays like he can do, and like he did last time against Baines, he'll can destroy him. It just depends whether he stays in his shell or not.

wr8 never says anything positive about United unless it involves Wayne Rooney. I wouldn't take note.

Since Evra's dip in form, Baines has suddenly become this mythical great defensive and outstanding going forward LB for some.

Indeed. Tony V fecking pwned him in that game.

Loved that moment.

I can't believe how people underrate Valencia. Sure, he's not yet shown the form since before his horrid injury, but that's to be expected. When at his best, he's given Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines absolute nightmares. Along with Evra, they'd probably make the best three left backs in the league on most people's lists (though Enriqué and Clichy would be brought up by some people, mostly Liverpool and City fans though I'd argue).

I never have an issue with Valencia coming into the side just because he's seemingly third choice winger at the moment. That goal will give him confidence too as it's the kind of goal that would have beaten any keeper in any game - it just so happens it was against Aldershot...

With Valencia in I reckon we might be even more likely to go 442, his directness and quick crosses are the kind of thing Hernández will gamble on. We'll see, wish this was on tv though.. :/

Who are the players who have been played out of position the most this season? In my eyes its Berbatov, Valencia, Jones and Smalling, and they are also the 4 I'd put down as having the most underwhelming seasons (the latter two after their first 3-4 games).

I think I'm right about Valencia, I might regret saying it later.

Feel a bit sorry for Everton, having to play 120 mins midweek with (close to) their first team, while most of ours had a week's rest.

Whens Berbatov been played out of position?

edit: just remembered last 15 mins at Leeds which hardly counts. He's only had an underwhelming season because he's barely played. When he has played he hasnt been too bad.

I don't understand why they didn't just move this or the Chelsea game to Sunday. Why have them clash?

Very strange fixture timing, especially with the Chelski v Arsenal game.

As for Baines; he has a great left foot but I wouldn't say he's a great defender yet. He's quick and strong but no quicker or stronger than Valencia. The real threat is having him and Cahill on the pitch together.

i don't, nobody feel sorry for us for last week either, why we should feel sorry for others.

Everton can be a sticky team, they tend to keep it tight at the back with a conservative attack, usually consisting of one up top with a midfielder as support, but if Cahill is a doubt this may change, might go out and out 4-5-1 against us.

As for us, DDG must start, after a gubbing like that you need to get straight back on the horse so to speak. At the back, Vida has to start, we really need to get some stability at the back as all the injuries has not helped with the defending we have produced, probably Vida alongside Jones, with Smalling at RB.

I think we may see Clev back in midfield for this one, possibly along side Fletch. nani and Valencia out wide.

Up top Roo and Chica, althogh I thought Berba had a great game midweek and would have possibly earned a starting place. United to win 3-1.

Yeah. and we usually play midweek while many other teams have rest so good to have it the other way around for once.

They have Neville, Cahill and Drenthe out so I guess the midfield for them might look something like:

Barkley/Bilyaletinov - Osman - Rodwell - Fellaini - Coleman

with Saha, who played 120 mins on wednesday, up front on his own. Not the ideal thing, we should take advantage from the start. Attack them.

livesoccertv.com just updated to add ESPN3. Still not the best quality IMHO but better than no game at all. I'll be hooking up my Macbook to the TV.

As far as I know ESPN3 is only available in the US and only to those with Comcast/FiOS etc that offer ESPN3.

An in form Valencia would have no problem taking on Baines but off late Valencia seems to be hesitant in taking on his full back and putting the ball in and with Valencia playing it'll also mean Nani playing on the left instead of the right.

Time Warner Cable is also a provider in which you can watch ESPN3. For those in the US, just go to ESPN3.com and check the list of service providers whom they support. It's a pretty extensive list.

I'e just learned I have ESPN Deportes so I'm good to go and am looking forward to hearing "gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool" when Rooney bags his 3rd.

I have no idea what to expect with this game. Even though we'e done well against Everton I think they tend to give us a good game and we grind out results. However, with Arteta, Cahill and Neville gone/out it could be very tough for them this time. 3-1 United.

Can't go. Won't even be able to follow on a stream. At least I won't have to conceal my emotions in amongst the Toffees fans though.

Well i have a a great deal of respect for Moyes so that is unfortunate for them. But im still feeling sorry for us after that drubbing last week, so if Everton are fecked from midweek and it helps us get 3 well needed points and a confidence boosting away performance, i'll gladly take it thanks very much.

Nice one, that fecker is well due a goal. think its currently his longest run without one since his Millwall days...

Yep and players on barren runs have an annoying habit of ending their droughts against us, so i for one will be very happy if he doesn't make their team.

On the plus side for them though, he will be nice and fresh for next week! :smirk:

just realised this is on ESPN3 on the internet....

thought it was on TV..instead they are showing the Chelsea v Arsenal match.

we're getting both on Oz :) if it wasn't for the excellent coverage we get I'd've ditched the rest of the crap long ago.
