This has just become too partisan; what next Monaco's president and the Mayor of Dakar to offer Evra character references.
Poyet's made a right cnut of himself there and come across as none to bright in the process. Those are extraordinary comments.
Suarez, his manager, Blatter, Poyet, the Uruguayan embassy. Is this now an international diplomatic incident? Obama to fly in to broker peace talks?
Whether or not Suarez gets off, his reputation is shot and he is going to be just about the most reviled and insulted player in the Prem by non-Liverpool fans and writers.
Poyet's quote is strange. He say's he believes Suarez, and goes on to support that claim by stating he was personally racially abused using every word in book?
He's just blindly supporting his fellow countryman. He doesn't have a logical thread in his points because his heart was ruling his head.
I wouldn't be surprised if he walks back the comments about being a cry baby if you complain about racism, especially if the chairman of Brighton has any sense.
The more people open their mouths to defend Suarez the worse it gets for him.
First Suarez and Kenny start yapping after the FA told them to be quiet. Dagliesh saying that Evra should be suspended and such nonsense. Suarez makes reference to the word he used but then was ashamed to repeat it in the press.
Then Blatter opens his hole and throws the race issue onto the fire. Everyone in England that hates Blatter comes out with an opinion on how shaking hands after a game is just not acceptable if a player has been racially taunted or abused.
Now you have backwards people like Poyet making it worse by saying anyone who makes a complaint is a 'cry-baby'
I'm sure the FA would have liked to brush this one under the carpet with some claim like a 'cultural difference led to a misunderstanding' as they try to help out Liverpool. Now there is NO WAY they can stop short of a long suspension or it makes a joke of the whole 'Kick-It-Out' campaign.
Considering that Rio got 6 months for just missing a drug test, it begs the question if the FA are more serious about something so minor compared to racism. The FA are going to have to consider a long suspension in order to restore their own credibility on the anti-racism campaign.
what he meant to say was nagrito.
Liverpool are obviously shitting themselves given the OTT public relations bollocks that they have been coming out with.
Poyet is Uruguayan. Maybe thats why he is favouring Suarez. But if Suarez is found guilty. Poyet would look like a complete ass..
Doesn't matter what happens, Poyet is just trying to come across as some nostalgic hardman who "just gets on with it."
feck that noise.
Poyet's quote is strange. He say's he believes Suarez, and goes on to support that claim by stating he was personally racially abused using every word in book?
Sounds like, "Did you hear that Suarez says he called Evra 'Negrito'?"
"I believe Luis Suárez, it's simple," Poyet said. "I played football for seven years in Spain and was called everything because I was from South America, and I never went out crying like a baby, like Patrice Evra, saying that someone had said something to me."
That would be like saying, "Suarez? Yeah, I can believe he said some stupid shit like that. I was personally racially abused constantly when I played. But in my day, we walked up hill to school, both ways, and played in a shower of glass shards and gun shots. My mother was being beaten in the stands and I got on with it. Anyone complaining about anything is a pussy, including Evra. I'm badass, unlike him."
the reaction to Poyet's statements on a Brighton forum. They are not happy he has spoken on this issue and some trying to defend him (he has done a pretty job for them so far football-wise)
Gus Poyet - right or wrong?
Actually really impressed.
The vast majority are very unimpressed with Poyet's comments. They are not showing blind loyalty but are actually thoughtfully engaged. Not sure if we would look half as good if the roles were reversed tbh.
In addition there was one bad comment about United, but the rest of the forum quickly pointed out the reality, overall very impressed.
