Barclays Premier League
Loftus Road
Sunday 18th December 2011
12:00 PM << yeah WTF:wenger:

8 days, the longest in-season break since we lost at Leeds in the FA Cup?

Early I know, but this is probably the best-case scenario:

de Gea

Jones
Smalling
Ferdinand
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Giggs
Nani

Rooney
Welbeck

SUBS: Lindegaard, Rafael, Evans, Fletcher, Young, Park, Berbatov.

What has Evans done to warrant a drop?

We play Fulham away just 3 days later on Wednesday. Might as well stay down there.

De Gea
Smalling-Evans-Ferdinand-Evra
Valencia-Carrick-Jones-Nani
Rooney-Welbeck

So the same team.

What has Evans done to warrant a drop?

Well if we have more CM options back by next week which we should do, then Jones probably won't be deliberately played in central midfield again. He only played there today because Giggs played the full 90 in midweek and Fletcher wasn't fit. Therefore, I think he's entitled to the right back slot after his performances there so far this year. And then a toss-up between Smalling and Evans for CB, and I'd go for Smalling. Nothing personal! He may well play Evans, just what I think at this point.

Team should be...

GK: De Gea

RB: Smalling
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Evans
LB: Evra

RM: Valencia
CM: Carrick
CM: Jones
LM: Nani

CF: Rooney
CF: Welbeck

Subs: Lindegaard, Fryers, Park, Gibson, Giggs, Young, Berbatov

Really not sure which game out of this or Fulham Rio should play in, I've put him in this one simply because Helguson I reckon will be more of a threat than any striker Fulham currently have on their books. Will be very tough to get 2 wins from these next two games, tbh it's going to be very tough to get a win at all

I'll go 1-2 Rooney brace, Helguson for them

Reckon Zamora will be more of a threat. Unless he's injured himself again.

Here's hoping Cleverley is back for this or at least make it on the bench. What's up with Darren Fletcher anyway?

If Berbatov is fit, I'd start with him in place of Welbeck Else stay the same as today.

Really unsure about this game, I can see near enough the same team that beat Wolves playing though. Valencia was awesome with I think three assists? So there's no reason to drop him especially with a weeks rest. There's basically no reason to drop anyone that started against Wolves other than perhaps Welbeck (who was by no means bad, just pretty average IMO). Hopefully a combination of Fletcher, Young, Giggs, or Berbatov will get on as subs (more-so hoping for Berbatov and Fletcher to get some minutes before the Fulham game).

I think Fletcher and Young would probably come back in against Fulham as I expect that to be the tougher game and we might go 433 there, with Giggs coming back in as well.

same team, no need to change a winning formula with 8 days of rests.

Same team for me.

Just lookin at QPR's home record in the league.

W1 D4 L2

Will be a tough cookie to crack. They did beat Chelsea but you could say only because of those 2 red cards. They gave City a great game but just couldn't hold on. I'm going 2-1 to us. Rooney x2

Really hope SAF resists the urge to tinker with the team again.

Lets just stick to one team and see if we can gain some momentum and keep players in form.

Remember one year them beating us 4-1 -I remember the game :( So hopefully we score early and make it a comfortable game.

Well, I'm finally going to pick Jones to start in midfield, as Fletcher is apparently dead. Perhaps Young will get a chance to kick start his game.

Smalling Evans Rio Evra
Jones Carrick
Nani Rooney Young
Welbeck

I predict Jones will clean out Barton, who will react by doing something barmy, and get Jones to make one of his vaudeville faces.

play the same team, we were excellent today

same team, no need to change a winning formula with 8 days of rests.

These.

As we are starting to play properly again, stick with it. Its going to be bad enough without Vidic for the rest of the season so lets keep a stable back four.

Boss relishes QPR trip

Sir Alex hopes United’s trip to Queens Park Rangers this Sunday proves as memorable as those he experienced in his first 10 years as Reds boss.

Trips to Loftus Road used to be commonplace – and United have a formidable record there under Sir Alex, losing just once in 11 games – but the Reds haven’t set foot in the West London ground since March 1996. QPR’s return to the top flight has triggered plenty of memories for the United manager, however, who told Inside United he’s relishing this weekend’s visit.

“It was always a great atmosphere at Loftus Road,” he said. “I remember we used to get a big allocation. We’d get the entire end behind one goal and then some more space around the side.

“The United fans, as you can imagine, loved that and would generate terrific noise. Loftus Road is one of those places where the fans feel as though they’re right on top of the pitch. We had some great nights there.”

Travelling Reds will be housed only in the School End this Sunday, but will number almost 3000 and provide vocal support for a United side intent on picking up three points. And although Sir Alex’s men beat Wolves 4-1 last weekend, it’s likely the manager will shuffle his pack again for this weekend’s trip to London.

“December is a particularly busy month when we often play eight or nine games,” he said. “We’ve got a Boxing Day Game, a New Year’s Eve game... it’s going to be a hectic spell and that’s when the squad really kicks in.”

                De Gea

Smalling Evans Ferdinand Evra

Valencia Jones Carrick Nani

            Rooney Welbeck

SUBS:
Lindegaard, Rafael?, Fletcher, Park, Giggs, Young, Berbatov

I wouldn't change a thing from the Wolves game to be honest. It's important to keep that solid midfield which worked well in protecting the back 4 as QPR will prove a sterner test.

Liverpool struggled to convert chances due to an inspired Cerny but they still created a load. We should too.

The author obviously forgot about Fulham's residency in the early 2000's. I saw united play fulham there on a couple of occasions. Pedantry aside, I'm sure the QPR fans will make it a great show, they'll be well up for having United at their ground again. I remember their away support being very loud when we knocked them out of the league cup a few years back.

Need to win this one. It's of absolute importance we go top, even if it's only for a few hours. It will give the lads and the supporters a great lift.

Even more important game after City dropping points. Must win game to put some pressure on City for a change.
