With the risk of repeating myself I don't understand Dalglish and Liverspool's stance in this. Make's no sense. They have cornered themselves in to a lose and lose situation.
Let's say we accepts Suarez explanation. His intention wasn't to be racial and his using of the word "negro/negrito" wasn't meant to abuse Evra.
I understand that after a tense game it isn't so easy to do the right things. Off course both Dalglish and Suarez had the possibility to offer Evra and apology, face to face, or just explain that his intension wasn't racial abuse. Maybe not the easiest route to go but I'm quite sure that Evra, after a little thoughts, would accept the apologize. A smart manager like Dalglish could end the story right here if he used this opportunity. Win and win.
Another route for Liverpool to take would be to after a few day's release a official statement where they explain Suarez intentions, made their view clear regarding racial abuse and what his club stands for, and finally offer Evra some sort of apologize. Another public win and win situation for Liverpool. Whatever the outcome would be of this they would have their back free.
Now they took the third route. Total backing of Suarez. Denials of every bit of the story. Counter attack and accusing Evra of using "the race card". Not the wisest move in the world. Not only do they rely on a others to decide the outcome who's right or wrong. They will face endless of speculations, badwill in the media and worst of all. A possibility to come out as liars and semi racists. And on top of that the club have put their reputation in one mans actions. Talk about guilty by association. Lose and lose situation of epic proportions.
Whatever the outcome will be they have nothing to win. The FA could clear Suarez but the public view will be no smoke without fire. It could be a half measure from the three man jury, quite possible. Suarez did use a racial word but no racist intention could be proved. No winners only losers.
United took the safe road and kept quite. Liverpool didn't and this will haunt them whenever a new incident blow up. Such a mess. Every sensible and wise person who are misunderstood, especially if it's racial abuse involved, will directly apologize to clear the air. Take five seconds. Liverpool had up till today to understands this, still they don't get it and they continue to ignore that who's right or wrong is secondary, probably irrelevant.
Stupid is what stupid does.
