Barcelona - a lot of moaning about them and some praise

Haven't read any more than what was on this page but I will say is that Ronaldo appears to look for the foul ... he doesn't have the ability to beat players with 'skill' but instead knocks it on and runs ... on many occasions he simply runs into the defender and tumbles. Frankly I think he's a bit pish.

I see my 'most clueless poster' vote was well chosen.

Maybe I am tripping! are we not talking about Ronaldo? Just as Suarez is the biggest diver in the prem now, Ronaldo was when he was in England. What's the difference? The baton has just been passed on. Are you going to tell me Suarez is a bigger diver than Ronaldo ever was?

Yes! Suarez is a serial diver and a blatant cheater who take every opportunity to fool the ref. Sometimes when he receives the ball his first reaction is to dive/cheat instead of continue playing. Even some of my most red eyed Pool supporter friends admits that he's the worst, without competition.

In their youth both Ronaldo and Messi where divers and cheaters. Today both of them have cut down the worst parts and just dive when there is minimal contact. Messi is the better one, he tries to stay on his feet most of the time but instead he sometimes use play acting when he dislike a tackle. Ronaldo use "minimal contact diving" as a part of his play, the last two seasons he rarely dive's without contact or dangerous play. I can't remember when I last time saw him cheating just to fool the ref, enlighten me if I have miss some incidents.

But to be fair to both of them it's fair to say that they both receive a lot of nasty tackles, some with the only intention to hurt them. That justify some of their actions.

Finally I can't understand why you dislike Ronaldo? He's a model professional who works hard for his success and do his best to help his team. He takes care of himself and avoid scandals and alcohol. Always praising United and Sir Alex. What is there to dislike? What have he done wrong to receive your manic hate (I don't find a better word)?

Burrow vs Boss.

Get in.

 I tried to get out of it, but stay tuned cause I'm going to allow myself to get dragged right back in it.
I thought you made good points. Nothing wrong with what you said. It was never about either or for me or that this guy dives and this guy doesn't. I even said as much but I've been misquoted every time I try to make a point.
Thank you, and I didnt back off because I figured I was in the wrong. It's just obvious by the way he's going on about this discussion that logic and reasoning simply wont be enough to discuss a point.

I think burrow made some horrible points. He just tried to ram it down ones throat, no homo, that they both dive as much as each other. That one must accept his version of events or you're foolish/spastic etc. For me that's bullshit by some distance having watched these players their whole careers. I know who dives more. 90% of football fans do. I'm well capable of drawing my own conclusions without his bizarre rants.

Being a Messi dickrider really has nothing to do with me thinking Ronaldo is one of the biggest divers of all time. I'm not sure what rock you've been under but most fans think this. I know that shit is painful to swallow, no homo but it's how it is. It's pretty much a universal opinion. If not the one of the biggest he's certainly the most high profile diver of all time.

When you think Ronaldo, you think of many key words. Tall, strong, scoring machine, handsome, great header, free kicks and diving.... It's key to his game, at times it can be an asset for any team.

Go on to any forum, any random one pick one. Try a wigan one for example, do a poll on whether Ronaldo is one of the biggest divers ever, the results will be very conclusive.

Even Iniesta, a massive diver at the time was telling Ronaldo in the first real camp nou clasico not to accuse him of diving seeing that Ronnie's got the biggest reputation for it.

Anyways going down easily is a dive, especially when you're built like a tank. Maybe this is why you're not seeing what many others do.

Anyway this convo is stupid, it's just me pointing out the obvious repeatedly.

What points did I make which were 'horrible' ? I was in no way trying to ram something down your throat, and I realise that it would be damn near impossible to do so anyways as it seems to be filled with Messi-cock replica's. The fact that you are slating me for saying how something is, whilst you do the exact same thing to an even more extreme degree is just...just wrong. I bring up a balanced view on the matter, whilst you refuse to accept the reality of the situation.

I know that you will say that 'the reality of the situation is simply what I say it is', and that's fair enough. That's just what I am doing aswell, though I reckon my point of view will be the most supported one from a neutral fans perspective. It's obvious that you are not a neutral in this case, which is why it's hard to have a reasonable debate on the matter. I accept that aswell, but I simply find it strange that you claim to be an expert on this matter, yet you refuse to listen to any other opinion on the matter besides your own.

Being a 'Messi dickrider', as you put it, will influence how you perceive Ronaldo and his antics. It's no use to say otherwise. I'm sure that you didnt feel as strongly about Ronaldo when you first got your eyes up for Messi, as they were not direct competition in terms of 'the worlds best player' at the time. It's got much to do with the fact that every time you hail Messi, someone is there to compare him to Ronaldo. And the more you try to make out your point about Messi, the more you feel the need to critisice Ronaldo. As I mentioned earlier, it's just the same way about many other subjects. Apple vs Others, "our midfield is shite" vs "our midfield is amazing". It all starts out with someone hailing / claiming one of the two as a fact, and always someone who'll say how wrong you are. Then you'll try to praise your opinion on the matter even more, and that other person will respond by saying how much better another product / opinion is, and this will continue up until the point where you've run out of praise and start to critisice the other persons preferences. In the Messi vs Ronaldo-debate on this forum, every single point has been made out for ages, and it's caused some posters to make out some extreme opinions on the matter, though it will be hard for them to recognise how that really happened. Which is why I'm pretty sure that you'll write this entire paragraph off as 'horrible point' and probably laugh it off aswell.

Just because you say it's a universal opinion doesnt make it true. Yes, you'll probably find that most people who support an English team will say that Ronaldo is the biggest diver of the two simply because of how they've seen him act during his time with us. Envy does also affect ones mind in this matter, and Cristiano being as good as he was for us will only enhance his reputation as a cheat, simply because of how much the opposition fans hated him playing for us. I'm sure that you'll find plenty of people who follows Spanish teams that will tell you that Messi is the biggest diver of the two, and some who will claim that Ronaldo is. It really isnt an universal opinion as, like on most other matters, the universal opinion is divided.

I'm sure that you think 'diving' when you hear 'Cristiano Ronaldo', and plenty of other people might do it aswell. Just like people will associate Messi with 'diving'. You are making your point by assuming that everyone else agrees with you, or have shares your frame of mind. As I mentioned earlier, do you really not see how Wigan-fans can have a different view on Ronaldo compared to a supporter who've probably not followed him during his breakthrough as one of the best players in the world? And are you really trying to make your point come across by quoting a player from his fiercest rival club?

Ronaldo have been a massive diver earlier, and he still dives. Messi still dives. That's the issue here, and wether you accept it or not, one is really not much worse then the other. I'm sure that someone with your mindset, but a Ronaldo-supporter opposed to your Messi-support would argue the exact same thing that you are saying, and find videoes / quotes who'll work against Messi just the way you're trying to 'prove' that one is worse then the other. Even though something might be 'obvious' to you, does not mean that it's an absolute fact, and ridiculing a debate on the subject as 'stupid' because someone disagrees with your biased view really goes to show what this Ronaldo vs Messi-debate can do to a regular mind.

I think this is a long winded post full of nonsense but let's just cut it short.

I believe Ronnie is the bigger diver by some distance and I believe most football fans feel the same, you think it's neck and neck. (and you think most neautral fans will support that point of view)

Agree to disagree. This will not lead anywhere.

I don't dislike Ronaldo. He was one of my favourite players to watch untill jose came along and killed his general play imo. I think he was sensational under Pellegrini, the total package. Mixed the best about his 42 goal season with his 23 goal season. Mesmeric player in 09/10. His most underrated season, and he did it in the CL too.

When it comes to diving, I think Messi is like Rooney, does it so rare that it stands out. For Ronnie it's integral to his game imho.

Seriously I don't want to go through all of the Ronaldo diving videos because there are trillions of them but here:

The exact way you feel about Suarez, is the exact way people felt about Ronnie in the Prem. Remember after the blackburn game in 08/09 he admitted in his interveiw he dived while smiling. How is this any different from Suarez? Sam Allardyce was raging that he tried to con the ref.

Here he and Lamps are even smiling about his diving:

It's what he does! Always has done , always will do. It's even a laughing matter at times! I believe it's universally accepted by most footy fans.

Even Mourinho listed him as one of the biggest divers in the world before coming to coach him. Now I'm sure he thinks he's honest ;)

Also I agree Ronaldo is a model professional, he does abstain from alcohol and all of that. You can tell he's a hard worker who pushed himself to the limits to reach this level and I truly commend him for that.

It doesn't mean he's not one of the biggest divers ever though. It's just a darkside to his game. Please don't confuse it with dislike.

 You truly are a 'special' poster, Boss. I think 99% of your posts in this thread is horribly biased, and extremely one-sided. Though it creates a lot of debate from others, you just go around in your fantasy-world, saying how stupid everyone with a different opinion to you is. The reason why only I, a newbie on this forum, is having this debate is because everyone else on this forum know how impossible it is to have a decent discussion with you on this subject.

But you're right. This would never have lead anywhere when I present you my point of view, and you laugh it off.

There are a few topics on which it is entirely impossible to take Boss seriously; anything to do with Barca/Madrid, Ronaldo/Messi, and music.

I believe people who don't see Ronaldo as the bigger diver are just deluded. This is my opinion based on watching both players since they were teens up till now. I've seen about 98% of games of both players. Speaking to many people, media, Internetwhatever, fans I thought it's universally accepted that Ronnie is the bigger diver, by some margin too. I'm sure of it too despite what some 'certain' posters say.

Anyway I'm special? I must say for a newbie you're incredibly disrespectful in your posts but as my man Drake says,' but it's all good.'

Do you really think that you've earned to be spoken to in a more respective manner by the way you've handled yourself in this discussion, Boss?

How about we "debate" who a better player is, Messi, or Bebe??

Last saloon before closing time.

Who deny's that Ronaldo is a diver? Worse then Messi? Probably but only by a small margin. I don't get why you are on mission on this trivial subject. Who cares? More or less all Barcelona and Madrid players are doing it, some more some less. What's new. You prefer Barcelona and Messi. OK. Good for you.

Take a little step back Boss and you will see that other posters will sometimes start to agree with your thoughts. As it is now you look like a fanatic on overdrive who lost it.

Seing your other posts in this thread makes me really re-think the entire concept of 'bias'. I really dont think it's worth debating anything concerning Messi with you, no offense.

Huge margin but yeah it's a trivial subject.

He's so full of shit it's unreal.

Yeah, but Boss has seen 98% of their games. And he's talked to loads of football fans, media people and interwebwhatevers...I mean, he's clearly right. Know your place Burrow.

Whaaat, Ronaldo is one of the all-time top-board champs. Messi is like most other top players who takes a tumble now and then.
feck off. He was in his early years,I agree, but later in his career (MUFC, now I don´t know) he would not have been given a freekick if someone fecking stabbed him. He made his bed though.

Brownosing is so natural to ya.

Cute.
You don't even care who it is, your nose is always deep down in someone's crack.

It's hard asking the wiki champ but their diving is neck and neck to you aswell?

Thought so. Shhhhhh

Boss is just hilarious. Not hilarious in a funny 'haha'-way, but rather hilarious in a 'accident that you really shouldnt watch, but cant help your self looking at'-sort of way.

Reading some of the posts on this page is the written equivalent of what I imagine it would be like to see a 12 year old debating football with SAF.

For the record, you can lay claim to quite a lot of the 12 year old's side of the conversation in that little analogy.

edit: feck off burrow getting in the way, that was to boss.

For the record, I would like to point out I think Messi dives a lot more than Ronaldo, probably due to the excellent training at Barcelona. ;)

For the record, I doubt many outside of Man utd fans who, for some reason love Ronaldo and Real, despite them constantly unsettling your player, Real Madrid and Portuguese fans believe that Messi matches Ronaldo in his diving, let alone does it a lot more.
