Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

So Liverpool are saying that Evra put in his statement that he doesn't believe Suarez is a racist. Ok, maybe he's not exactly in the mould of the KKK, but he still used a word regarding a person's skin colour that was offensive.

Suarez will do anything, and I mean anything on a football pitch to gain an advantage, whether it's cheating or winding an opponent up. We've all seen that before, how anybody can believe he didn't mean this?

Liverpool's Luis Suarez has been handed an eight-match ban and a £40,000 fine by the Football Association after being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

The Uruguay striker, 24, clashed with the France defender during the 1-1 draw at Anfield on 15 October.

Suarez, who denied the allegations, has 14 days to appeal against the decision.

He tweeted: "Today is a very difficult and painful day for me and my family. Thanks for all the support."

Liverpool, who had backed their player throughout the case, said the club was very surprised and disappointed with the decision.

• Makes professional debut with Nacional in 2005
• Makes debut for Uruguay against Colombia in February 2007 and is sent off in the 85th minute
• Joins Ajax in August 2007 in a deal reportedly worth £6.3m
• In 2010, he scores 33 goals in 35 matches for Ajax before helping Uruguay reach the semi-finals of the World Cup. He is sent-off in the quarter-final
• In November 2007, he is banned for seven matches after being found guilty of biting PSV's Otman Bakkal
• Signs for Liverpool in January 2011 in a deal worth up to £22.8m
• Patrice Evra makes an allegation of racism against the striker in October and, after being found guilty, he is banned for eight matches and fined £40,000

A club statement said: "We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone.

"No-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth."

Liverpool added: "It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November.

"Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name."

The seven-day hearing, which concluded on Tuesday, was told Suarez used insulting words including a reference to Evra's colour.

The FA statement added: "The penalty is suspended until after the outcome of any appeal, or the time for appealing expires, or should Mr Suarez decide not to appeal.

"The reason for this is to ensure that the penalty does not take effect before any appeal so that Mr Suarez has an effective right of appeal."

The Reds striker told media in Uruguay that he "called him something his team-mates at Manchester call him".

Evra made his claims immediately after the match and was quoted as telling French TV station Canal Plus: "There are cameras, you can see [Suarez] say a certain word to me at least 10 times."

The Frenchman reported his complaint after the game to match referee Andre Marriner who included it in his report.

BBC Sport - Liverpool striker Luis Suarez handed eight-match FA ban

Surely there should be a seperate fine for LFC for questioning the integrity of the FA?

SAF should just respond to every question on this matter from now on with the word "nineteen".

Wonder what John Barnes makes of it all. Would love to see an interview from him on the matter.

Lets be done with it and move on and just watch with hilarity and amusement at how this once great club makes its ancestors turn in their graves.

On a completely unrelated story LFC have released their new away kit for next season

I just don't understand, he's admitted saying that word so why are they questioning the proof and evra's credibility?!?

Liverpool added: "It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November.

What self-defeating stupidity. Even if they think ^that's^ the case, what possible advantage is there in making their thoughts public? Oh yeah, keeping their more deluded fans onside...

Well in doing so, they have basically now taken on the FA and Manchester United, be it in tribunals, the law courts or on the terraces.

I cant see fans of other clubs being very sympathetic towards Liverpool on this matter.

I'd just like to say, during the world cup when this fcuking racist cnut cheated so blatantly to get Uruguay through to the semi's, so many on here defended him whilst I and others knew instantly what a wank*r he really was. We who were outraged by such flagrant cheating have been proven right on his much to be desired character.

Hope he gets 3 further game ban for his 2 finger salute and from now on, every single player 'of colour' lets him know what he thinks of him when he plays against him.

I don't think he'll last much longer in the PL. Good riddance. Could not have happened to a nicer chap.

good post

That statement from Liverpool is absolutely appalling. I normally try and be open minded and not biased to much, but that... is horrendous. I can't believe it.

I reckon Lpool are shitting it really knowing their best player won't be available. Put out some tough guy statement to keep their fans happy but when it comes down to the crunch they'll probably be advised from lawyers that it could lead to a couple more games. Similar when the accusation came out from Evra they gave it the big un even when the FA asked both parties to keep it zipped due to the sensitivity of the issue. When he was charged suddenly Kenny went all quiet on us. Wouldn't be surprised after 13 days if they posted a statement stating

"We got no chance against the fa"

Didn't really see Suarez getting a ban as anything to be happy about even though it is our player because it's sad that racism still exists but after reading the statement I can't wait for him to get a couple more for the finger gesture at Fulham.

Liverpool FC  Jesus fecking christ. Putting up a statement like that. What a fecking joke of a club. FA should kick the cnuts out of the league after the way they've handled this whole case. Don't think Suarez is a racist? Fine, do your talking at the hearings and appeal the case if you're unhappy. Don't fecking talk about it in the media every other day and don't label Evra as a liar. They truly deserve a big fine at the very least for the way they've conducted themselves during this case.

The more I read the Liverpool statement the more I think Dalglish wrote it, they are digging themselves into a huge hole.

Lying about Evra's past, saying that the FA are somehow biased against them and basically condoning the use of racist terms on a football pitch.

The pettyness, the arrogance and the general tone of the whole thing just reeks of Dalglish.

I just don't understand, he's admitted saying that word so why are they questioning the proof and evra's credibility?!?

Yup, that's my understanding as well. Yet, people keep saying there's no evidence.

The man himself admitted he said the word for crying out loud!

I reckon Kenny's stormed into the press room,

Kenny "right lads print this".
Press room "Erm, I'm not sure that's the best idea boss"
Kenny "Get the feck out of my club, you're fired. Do you know who I am?!?, Post it!!

It's back up, initial removal for damage control but then realised everyone had seen it anyway so better just put it back up.

Back up on another URL apparently.

Oh and by the way, did Suarez definitely admit to using the "negrito" term?

Does not matter when they take it down (and they will in abit once they realise how much extra trouble they have just generated for themselves with this totally unacceptable statement.)

Thats where you have to love technology now .... that statement has already been twittered and consumed in every 'corner' of the planet.

I actually dont think it was blind rage that led them to make thats statement .... its clear they are incredibly blinkered on this matter. Im more shocked by this release than anything about this sordid episode so far. Just when you thought Liverpool could not shoot themselves further in the foot .....

:wenger::wenger::wenger::wenger:

Actually, thats unfair on Houllier .... Mods we need a new emoticon for Dalglish!

"If any of you ever had doubt that we are the greatest football club in the world, read the LFC statement"

Dear god.

Does not matter when they take it down (and they will in abit once they realise how much extra trouble they have just generated for themselves with this totally unacceptable statement.)

They'd already printed the whole thing up on SkySports about 20 minutes ago and discussed it so taking it down would do nothing.

Too late, Liverpool. What a bunch of amateurs.
