Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

Think it does. However, they can leave it until the last day of the two weeks to accept it so they can effectively choose when the ban starts.

Also, I don't think the two weeks starts until the findings for the disciplinary panel have been released.

Don't forget to vote for Suarez as Goals on Sunday Player of the Year 2011.

He's only leading Van Perise by 47 per cent at the moment.

And the worst thing about it is that most fans that aren't United or Liverpool share the same views against United. Although to be fair with this case it seems to be only the simple Liverpool fans who are being complete morons.

Yup

Arsenal fans have got better over time. In recent years, first they where glad that Arsenal didn't sign Ronaldo as he was a useless show pony with no end product, then they where glad Arsenal didn't sign him as he is a diving cnut, then Ronaldo shut them up completely... and now all they have to laugh about is that we don't have Ronaldo either.

I think the last 20 years of shared rivalry has afforded some respect between Arsenal and United supporters, though apparently "the Arsenal players would prefer it if Chelsea won the league than United." Which annoyed me no end.

Liverpool fans, I think a lot of them are embarrassed by the others... probably.

regardless of what colour his ancestors were, he still said what is classed as a racist term in the UK

exactly, for suarez, it's most likely more of less a cultural error, whereas the terry one isn't since they are both from the same country and know what terms and slangs are racism. suarez should be banned for the negligence, but not this heavily.

If they appeal there might be another 5-10 weeks where he can play, right?

It's very generous to define it as negligence when he's been living in Europe for five years, captained a multi-cultural Ajax side, went to the World Cup in South Africa and has been living in Liverpool for not far off a year, all the while being around black team mates and staff and playing against other black players.

I don't think racism can be dismissed/explained away by "a cultural error".

The worrying aspect of the Liverpool statement is that people are using as a statement of fact. Now wasn't it reported that Suarez did say the actual words? That is why the nuance was over context not just whether he admitted saying the words.

People are reading the Liverpool statement which does not mention that Suarez said those words just "his word against Evra".

The statement was despicable and ill thought out.

This is a very common thing across all liverpool boards, excuses for him. I hope this episode finally puts an end to the "Rawk isn't a fair representation" bollocks, because unfortunately it seems to actually be the case.

I've been appauled by the reaction to this, I can only hope we've seen the responses from the ones with more extreme views. I haven't read through this in recent pages but there has to be a load of Liverpool fans who are as bemused and disgusted with that statement, and the reaction from so many of their own. Surely some fans have to take the more important view of racism in football over supporting one of their own, the absence of morality is just shocking here.

 that's hilarious.. how can so many of them be so obsessed with voting on Sky polls? If there's any Liverpool related contenders on Sky polls you know what the outcome will be. It is so fecking embarrassing.

Can someone drop me a link to the blog post discounting the myth about Ev?

Seriously Dumbstar, serious question - are you seriously defending a man found guilty of uttering racist insults to another man, despite the fact that you have no evidence o suggest he is innocent while the independent commission that found him guilty are likely to know far more about it than anyone else?

Does defending him (despite his guilt of an unbelievably base crime) sit comfortably with you on a moral level?

No it doesn't sit comfortably with me. He was stupid to do it and has probably got what was coming to him.

But that doesn't stop me making sure the FA, Ferguson and Evra get what's been long overdue either. Facht. :p

Which is?

Dumbstar's points are probably that Meeester Ferguson has been ruling the FA for years now and it is Evra's fault that he is black.

This is the ridiculous aspect of reaction from Liverpool from the club, to anyone affiliated to it, to its fans. Forget the fact that one of their players has been found guilty of racial abuse, forget the saddening reality that racism is alive and kicking in today's game, getting one over on your rivals is most important. Your player is a racist, your club has made a massive public mistake in their handling of a very serious issue, and you cannot for one minute drop your hatred for another club to see this and feel ashamed? Is it more important to get revenge on the victim, and his employers than dealing with the reality that one of your players is a disgusting racist?

That's racist.
