Manchester United vs. Blackburn Rovers

Fergie underestimated Blackburn, plain and simple.

Completely agree.

Berbatov was awful for the penalty, Carrick & Jones were terrible for the second, and the less said about the third the better. Ultimately Ferguson picked the team and made a complete balls of it. He also underestimated Basle and Palace and it cost us then also.

Terrible performance. Rant over.

Like feck was this game a title decider. That's laughable, look at the points for gods sake what is wrong with some of you.

Course it aint. There's always a freak result in anyones season.

I do think we need to have a bit more in terms of creativty.

We were in control of the game after getting one back and only one team looked likely to win it.

When they got the third the stuffing was knocked out of us.

Horrible way to lose a game

It's true. Injuries in key areas haven't helped mind. That being said I had a conversation with someone yesterday and said I reckoned Carrick would struggle against a player like Yak.

To be honest it's hardly Carrick's fault. He's filling in. Quite personally I'd have rather seen Will Keane in and play from the start as an actual natural defender.

Easy to say now I suppose. I haven't been the most successful manager in the clubs history mind. Even the great man gets it wrong now and then. Just have to swallow this one.

Yep, one of those bad days at the office for Fergie. Extremely bad day; beaten by a Steve Kean led side.

Will Keane is an actual natural striker.

walking back from the ground now... its a bit like a morgue. Really really disappointed, but we didn't deserve anything from that game. Almost seems as if there was no game plan and we thought it would all be pretty routine... not the first time we've underestimated opponents this season.

Also, not that its an excuse, as we were dire, but the ref was diabolical...

It's not Carricks fault, I agree. Jones should have been handling Yakubu.

One of those things though. I mean they've had nothing of the game going forward and we've really gifted them three goals.

I like De Gea...but he worries me seriously coming for the ball under pressure.

I dunno really. After we got one back is was all us. Then it was a sucker punch.

Tough to take really.

Park is a shit CM. I dont understand why we dont play Carrick in CM and let someone else be the makeshift CB. Control in midfield is more imprtant than having a CB thats marginally better than another.

Be interesting to see what he does in the upcoming games now that's for sure. Whatever experiment he tried today backfired spectacularly in arguably what should have been on paper, our easiest game of this month and probably any month.

We were shocking today, SAF should hang his head in shame for that performance and subsequent result. In some ways that was even worse than the City defeat, considering we had only 10 men for the second half there, and we were playing a full strength City team in great form.

What were we playing today? An injury ravaged scond string Blackburn team, who are bottom of the table and with only 2 wins this season! Gutted!

I'm never one to jump the gun and condemn the team, but that result is shocking. This is one of those games that we should have went out and won with ease. To lose it is just awful. It's far from a title decider, of course, but sometimes it can be the little games which come back to haunt you at the end of the season, with that early season loss to Burnley a couple of years ago being an example.

I just remembered, the commentator (Jon Champion?) on ESPN said the linesman has shown 4 minutes of "Fergie-time".

What a cnut, lack of professionalism.

As I said injuries have not helped the situation.

All that aside it's a poor selection. Too many players out of position. When Blackburn saw that team sheet it had to be a boost for them.

He uses that "joke" when he commentates on every United game.

Yes of course injuries have played a big part, but it has to be said that what we had available, playing in their right positions should still have been easily good enough to beat a second string blackburn at Ot.

A draw would have been a disaster, but to suffer a defeat considering how Blackburn played is simply unacceptable. If the CL performance was worthy of an apology to the fans, then i don't know what this performance deserves, considering who we were playing, how they played and where we were playing!

The selection stunk of arrogance imo, the bench even more so. It may be his birthday today, but like the rest of us he will certainly not enjoy it after that debacle.

Probably true, but even so considering how many games Jones has played at CB for us so far, it is asking a bit much for him to be main CB for a club like Utd at this stage of his development.

I have said before in my view Jones has been significantly more impressive in CM than he has been at CB. He may well end up as a great CB, but he is far from that now. Even when he has been playing CB most of his standout contributions have been going forward, so there is little point in playing him at CB and expecting him to excell. He does not have the experience or the awareness as yet for such an important role.

I predicted this scenario a couple of weeks ago, if something happened to Rio, then we would be forced to play inexperienced pairings, which would then subsequently detract from our effectiveness in midfield.

We have to have experienced cover for the defence to enable us to play our best midfield.

People are craving a midfielder but at this time, we are left with no Vidic and 3 injury prone defenders in Rio and the twins. this is a scenario that has forced us to play our best midfielder at CB. Not a good scenario and one that could seriously damage any hopes we have of retaining our title if it is not addressed.

John O'Shea after his side's win over Premier League leaders Manchester City:

"It was a fantastic result. We'll look forward to Wigan next up. I think we've got about two hours rest now before that one!"
