You're right. I just don't think Liverpool - no matter how stupid they have been, have created an atmosphere where anyone could think it's okay to racially abuse someone. Although their actions seem to have swayed a lot of their fans' moral compass, so who am I to say otherwise.
Have you read some of the comments aimed at Evra in recent weeks, by Liverpool fans, in the comments sections of online newspaper articles, on twatter or on bakebook? The amount of times "black bastard" and the word that I shall not say have been used, by LFC fans, acting in defence of Suarez, has been ridiculous. If you really think the club hold none of the responsibility for how their fans have been reacting then I think you need a reread of the thread mate, and read some of the articles that have been linked in here.
By not condemning the words of their player, Liverpool football club have stated, by Suarez own admission of his use of Negro, that referring to black players using their skin colour is perfectly fine. It's friendly in fact, you can say it to your friends, even your wife can call you it. Suarez and Liverpool have admitted he used this word, once, but in a non racist way. Their fans agree. It's no stretch at all that those fans now feel justified in using this word, and others, to black players. The club says its not racist, so why shouldn't they?
The fan, if the story is true, is in the wrong, and responsible for his own actions, but Liverpool as a club should be ashamed that their failure to condemn their player for using the reprehensible word he used has caused the shitstorm it has caused. They hold some responsibility for this current situation, and the malice it has fostered amongst their fans. You're blind if you can't see this mate.
