Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

As I said in another thread last night; pressure from America would force the owners hands. This is very likely what happened, especially after Daglish and Suarez clearly had another view of the incident last night.

Call me a cynic, but I don't believe for one second that that apology is in any way Suarez' view on this. If he was truly sorry of this, surely he's not so stupid he wouldn't have realised the consequences of not shaking Evra's hand before choosing not to do it. He fully well knew it would cause a media storm and he didn't care a single bit, because in his mind he still hasn't done anything wrong. I really believe that this apology is directly from the owners and that Suarez was pretty much forced to put his name on it, if he wants to stay at Liverpool.

about time they apologized and put the events behind them. hard to fathom it took them so long to realize you can't just go on with day to day stuff without some form of closure.

They have not apologised though - Suarez has.

While I dislike Suarez more than words could ever do justice to, I think LFC's statement criticising Suarez is bang out of order without an apology on their own behalf attached to it.

The club put incredible faith behind him, believed his version of events and went as far as to back him in a very public display of t-shirt wearing and press releases - the same press release where they accused Patrice Evra of outright lying.

Now LFC have witnessed first hand that it is in fact Suarez who is the liar - he lied to their faces when he said he would shake Evra's hand. How on earth can they still believe his version of events re: the racism incident? Not only have the FA labelled him an unreliable witness, but now Liverpool have 100% undeniable proof themselves that Suarez is unreliable, dishonest and a proven liar.

This apology from Suarez is welcome, but until LFC issue an apology for publically branding Patrice Evra a liar through various avenues - press releases, interviews, t-shirts etc. - then this is certainly not over. Dalglish, the players who wore t-shirts and everyone in the Liverpool back offices need to issue their own apology because their behaviour has been absolutely fúcking disgusting.

A perverse part of me didn't want him to apologise.

This makes me a bad person.

I was the same too but we all knew the club at least was going to say it was wrong. The Suarez apology isn't to Evra, its to Liverpool. I just hope the media still gets that and mentioning Evra's hand is not an apology to him.

Apparently this whole incident received huge attention from US Media as both NYT and Boston's Paper(John Henry's native state) ran with it. I think this just done as a consequence of that.

Basically, this, where is it coming from? Where are people getting this information from?

It's coming from Daglish and Suarez both having a completely different view of it yesterday and all of a sudden Suarez is sorry for it.

It's not something we know, but it makes sense. Suarez suddenly realising that he's a massive twat doesn't make sense, so that explanation is very unlikely.

There's been criticism of Liverpool in the British media all along and it's obvious that that didn't bother them much. Last night the American media (NY Times in particular) picked up on this and asked for the owners to act on this to save themselves, and all of a sudden Liverpool and Suarez apologises. I don't think that's a coincident.

no you are not. This apology does not mean they are suddenly decent. They were just themselves.

Now they have been forced to do this. But at least we can begin to move on once they have accepted they are liars.

I forgot the smiley.

I meant to say: This makes me a bad person. :D

Exactly.

They've never apologised to United or to Evra, only to Kenny and Liverpool as apparently they're the only victims in this. His 'aplology' amounts to nothing more than hollow words from a stupid cnut.

Another statement coming from Kenny, I just know that idiot will ruin all the Liverpool's recent "good" work.

Alan Green and Graham Taylor blaming SAF for fanning the flames with his post match comments.

An apology to Kenny and LFC.

Makes up for everything.

Ah someone else sees it.

I just brought this up in the other thread, if you actually read the apology, he's not sorry for what he did at all, he's sorry for embarrassing his club, fans and manager.

How on earth is that supposed to count as the apology Evra deserves?

They're expecting to hear from us too. I hope there's no statement from us accepting the apology when he still hasn't apologised to us yet...

Kenny's statement... it won't end well.

It's clear that the powers that be have called a big meeting and are sorting it all out now.

They've hung Suarez out to dry and it'll be a simple statement saying that they are handling it internally now.

I was proud of Evra to take his stand against racism, it would have been easy for him to not take it further considering the nature of the rivalry.

What I didn't expect was for him to inadvertently shatter LFC into a trillion pieces.

Take a bow Paddy, take a bow.

I bet that grin of his hasn't left his face for the last 24 hours.

I fear there will be.But that's business.

The fact is, we're a club with class and unlike Liverpool we have enough self image to know that coming out publicly and saying "That wasn't an apology to us" would only be seen as petty, especially when there is an opportunity to let it all rest now.

Definitely, I hope we don't say anything on the issue. Sir Alex has already expressed his views and Evra had his moments afterwards, that should be enough.

exactly.

their victim mentality was always some day going to bring them to something like this.

...and now that it has, it is very satisfying.

There's certainly going to be a statement from us - it's clear both clubs have had some talks this morning with the PFA/FA and told to nip things in the bud now but I honestly don't know what we can say in our statement apart from unfortunately accepting Suarez's apology even though there's nothing to accept!

I meant on the apology issue alone, it would be a bit shit to accept his apology. Ideally, we will say nothing in response to his statement and leave it at that, but it's not likely.

I hope there is. That would wind them up so much. Whenever I get into a debate with someone and they say "I'm sorry but...." I always interrupt "It's okay, I forgive you, keep going...".

Love it.
