Athletic Bilbao vs Manchester United

I know we haven't been up there with our european performances but I still think this team will come good once some of the newbies have aged. Don't think it's fair to place too much criticism on the lads if we go out tonight.

We've been an absolute joke in Europe this season.

feck all Rio could do about their goal. It was a superb volley.

Sure he could. Was a great pass but Llorente is a slow player. If he got to the ball first inside the box from a pass inside their own half then someone messed up on our side.

He's been a great servant to this club but I really hope we sell Park.

Yep, of course that is a foul by and not on Rooney.

TBH, I didn't expect too much before the match started, and even less so now.

Our performances in Europe this season simply haven't been good enough, and I didn't see tonight being any different.

If we somehow turn this round and advance, I'll parade down the street in my underwear.

So are we playing Cleverley out wide and Giggs/Park centrally?

It's really been the mentality towards cup competitions that's been shit from us. Way to conservative and predictable. Easily exploitable.

I didn't like football on Channel 5 anyway

so if utd get relagated to the championship then we'd want to lose games ?

a team that doesn't desire to win every game is a team that isn't worty of the red shirt

Get up Wayne, we're also not going to get any 50-50's from the ref tonight

European football requires strong defending, mental steel, resolve and the experience to face different styles of play.

Its no surprise we started to struggle once our experienced lot retired. Compounded by Vidic missing and Rio being flakey. We're playing a new core of youngsters. They'll get used to it. Some time.

Ignoring the players you just criticised; Park, Rooney, Carrick, Evra, Rafael and DDG are all experienced in European football... There aren't really any inexperienced players in this starting XI, just Cleverley and Young and at 26, I'd expect Young to be able to cope. Experience can't be an excuse for this.

Ref has been pretty abysmal but our midfield is getting raped to be fair.

We're slow today when it comes to one/two touch football, which would be extremely helpful against a team like Bilboa who press very well.

Let Young take the fecking corners for feck sake Giggs.

in british underwear I hope......

feck me, our collective first touch has been awful today.

Carrick has been fecking excellent so far... especially considering he's basically been playing for 2 men.
