Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

It would be rather funny if his wage demands to join City were significantly higher than what he agrees to with us.

it's either his agent (most probably) is trying to milk city as much as possible or else (less possible), he wants to join another club....

My take on this transfer..

City offer him £175k pw net
United offer him £85k gross

Not an easy one...but which offer would YOU accept?

That's what made Chelsea so attractive at one point...that and being in the capital. But making a 100m loss a year didn't appeal to Abramovitch for long.Sooner or later the Sheiks are going to have to be realistic and then the spending will have to be curbed.

They're a lot richer though aren't they? Eventually the revenue will start pouring in and once you've got a top team the investments don't have to be in such bulk buys as theyve had to do to transform.

Well City is now fighting the monster they created themselves.

They know they can't continue to pay these over the top wages to every new signing so they are probably going in with more realistic offers.

But honestly if Balotelli is earning 180k p/w it's hard to explain to Hazard why he will only get max 100k p/w.

It's also unrealistic from City to assume they can all of a sudden get the best talents for their real value because I'm fairly certain that being offered the same wages as other top clubs do not many players really would chose City.

The only thing that makes them attractive is the fact that they pay you a lot of cash to play for them.

Yep and putting in the high wage offers they have done means that they'll create big problems for themselves when they want to move some players onwards as they have found when they've been trying to get rid of Bridge. Some will be content moving to another club for more game time on lower wages, while some will think "what is the point when I'm on huge wages here?".

As Inigo has said Chelsea used to offer players big wages then eventually they realised that it wasn't feasible any longer if they wanted to try and stop making huge losses, and as by that point they had become more successful and offered Champions League football it was then easier for them to offer lower wages. City might find it a bit more difficult to overcome the wage problem though.

It's very easy given the question is aimed at Manchester United fans.

So, the Gotze question. Anyone?

I really know feck all about him but how does his ability compare to someone like Gotze. The praise I've heard about the latter is unlike any I've heard about any other current young player so, just wondering.
I prefer Gotze to Hazard. But he has signed an improved contract, so can't see him leaving for a while.

Think you may want to swap around the net and the gross otherwise unless you're a diehard united fan you're gonna take the offer that's like four times better.

I was reading a French article (translates) just last week saying that Hazard will sign for Spurs after being guaranteed football. Apparently he said he felt it was a wise choice for his career. I didn't think anything of it as I couldn't see him going anywhere but City, but now im wondering if there may have been some truth in it.

You don't think he'll be guaranteed football at Utd or City? I'd have said it's a cast iron certainty

Yeah right. We can give Ashley Young 120k, but for a better player let's give him 40k less. Well done.

120k. Christ O Mighty. Our transfer policy is odd at times. Young is a good player but lets be sensible here!

That's a joke if true. That is higher than Nani, Valencia, Carrick are earning surely?

Not really. Two-three years ago your argument would be valid, but certainly not anymore.

Sure money is a big part of it, but City already have a top quality squad, very close to winning their first domestic title and almost certainly will be a mainstay in the CL for many seasons to come.

Unless Hazard cares about prestige of playing for historically more successful club, which most players nowadays don't give two shits about, his preference for City can be justified by more than just bigger wage packet.

That's great. Not only are the numbers completely random he's made one of them net and one gross, for no reason whatsoever.

Spoken from experience. ;)

I meant £175k pw not £17k

Actually read it as 170K. It's a no brainer for a united fan surely. You're still filthy rich with more money than you know what to do with. And you get to play for the club you love.

Asking United fans this is rather silly because there's only one answer for all of us. For non United supporters though the choice will swing the other way most of the time.

Bayern for £80k a week or Schalke for £170k a week? Milan for £80k a week or Roma for £170k a week? Etc.

But the difference won't be that big anyway, it could be £50k a week at most.

It's not even that in his example. At united he'd be getting like 50K once you take tax in to account, at city he's getting 175K after tax. I dunno if he meant to use the terms he did but it's a pretty pointless/silly scenario

Well, let's be honest, if City won't pay what he wants then it's unlikely we will.

To be fair mate, if City won't pay what he wants then no-one apart from Anzhi can pay him.

To be fair mate, if City won't pay what he wants then no-one apart from Anzhi can pay him.

Not even Anzhi have that kind of money. What Eto'o earns there is obscene but I doubt they'd be able to maintain more than one player with that kind of wages. Their owner is worth like 10% of what's royal family worth.

It's possible he just doesn't want to be making peanuts while other players make 3-4 times what he makes yet get October to April off. If nearly everyone else on the team is making 150k+, he's not going to be happy to be on 100k there. I think it would be different if he went to United or Spurs. They both have more sensible pay structures yet he'd be one of the top earners at United as opposed to one of the lower ones at City. If everyone else around you was making 200k+ and you were offered 80k to do similar work, you wouldn't be very happy.

Supposedly Tevez gets a massive pay rise if City win the title...no wonder he came back.

Dunno if this is good news or him being greedy..

#mcfc increasingly less optimistic about edin hazard today. agent not helping, by the sound of it. long way to go, though..

Last time I checked, his name was Eden, not Edin.

He corrected himself in the next tweet.

Obviously they're playing hardball with City over wages, but it'd be interesting to see how close our wage offer is to the one he's balking at from City. . .

There is simply not even a sniff of a chance of Hazard ever coming here. Its already signed and sealed at City. Nasri must be delighted. He can pick up 150 grand a week for sitting on a bench each week which is what he basically said he wanted some weeks ago when he said that Arsenal played him too much.

Young's on 120k a week? Where do you get that from? I'd be shocked if thats the case..

Some tabloid ran with that 120k figure last summer and after that it became 'fact', between newspapers and supporters.
