Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

Assuming 30 - 35m?

I think we have no chance of getting him. Saf seems to have his mind set on Kagawa.

Kagawa ticks all the value checklist. He's young, he's cheap and he'll prove a great ambassador for the Asian market.

Which position does he play?

With Nani, Young and Park to a lesser extent occupying the left wing do we really need another winger?

He can play any where, although most of his starts have been on the left.

If we buy him, he could play on the left or middle. Young would be his backup and Nani and Valencia would share time on the right with occasionally playing on the left as well.

He is Nike player and said couple of weeks ago that Sir Alex is the best manager.

City are now a Nike club. In fact they always were, Umbro is owned by Nike. Doesn't matter though, we're signing him.

I don't want us to compete with City and spend ludicrous amounts on Hazard.
There are plenty of good players available and can be gotten without paying horrendous amounts. Like Newcastle has proven.

But I'd like us to sign him just to shut the 'value' mongers up.

He hasn't so far specifically said Man City nor refereed to the blue color but he said he'll go to Manchester. It's obvious that only City will be able to sign him as Lille has a tendency to fleece the teams for their players.
Hazard might leave for a sum higher than 40m euros and only City can afford him.
His value is even higher now with him being back to back the best player in the Ligue 1

Agreed. He's probably the most sought after young footballer on the planet right now (at least in terms of players willing to move) stands to reason that Lille will flog him to the highest bidder and that's always going to be City. All the more so if it gives them a chance to feck us over in the process.

They will never shut up regardless.

thats why gambit is gambit.

Everyone keeps saying we're not , he's city bound and only for them well if thats the case we may as well close the thread. I on the other beleive there's some legs to this story yet and therefore have thrown my hat into the Team Red camp (us, United if you didn't know). I will now twist every facit of this saga into proof he'll be playing for us.

Either way we will know within 2 weeks whether he joins us or them...so in the meantime everything is simply conjecture.

I do hope he joins us mainly because it would be 1-0 to us in the transfer market this summer and would be a small consolation of losing the title..

The reason you can bet your house on him not coming to us is because he has been talking about his transfer. If we'd have done any groundwork in signing him up to now, we would have told him to keep his mouth firmly shut. Can you think of a single player we have signed in the last few years who has spoken out about moving unless it is specifically to us? We don't get involved in players who ignite bidding wars.

Which is exactly why we'll sign him, we've had the Nike marketing team working with him for months now to get those maximum shirt sales going in that cute Gingham number.

Good point, this transfer reminds me a bit of the Nasri saga last year, i sincerely hope the end result is different this time.

I think if we do bid for him there is a possibility he would sign for us. With FFP coming in City need to start being a bit more frugal with their spending and have so many superstars that Hazard may not be a guaranteed starter. It's not like there is a big difference in the clubs this season either, City only won at the very last minute. Some players still prefer history over plasticity. Just look at when Berbatov signed

I think I would prefer Fergie buy a few players rather than blow all the dosh on one. He is going to be overpriced now and as everyone says, City are the only club that has the cash to pay stupid prices. City have just won the league, pay enormous wages and will buy to try to win the champions league next season, its seems a no brainer that he will go to city.

Still....if I was a football player, I know which club I would go for, purely based on history, tradition, looking after, the man at the top and not such a bad wage either....!!

Hazard to City means less playing time for Nasri which means more drama in the dressing room.

nah, he said he joined city because he wants to spend more time on the bench.

I reckon city are going to try and bring their wages a bit more in line this year so we'll get him for cheaper than he agrees to go to city.

City have to do something fast and start looking towards the future. They surly can't keep offering every player astronomical wages? They have to start thinking about FFP rules coming in. The problem they face though is they have made a rod for their own back; any new player coming in is going to want the same wages as the others. This could work in our favour tbh.

Isn't FFP a red herring? What are the punishments? Fines? City will take them. The threat of expulsion from European competitions? Exactly that, a threat that will never be carried through.

Of course it will. The fact is that as a football club they are a million miles from being able to sustain their current wages and they are not going to be letting go many of the top earners just yet. Toure, Nasri, Aguero? No chance, they'll be adding to them. Then the likes of Silva and Kompany are surely going to be asking to be on the same level. What happens to the Milners and Barry's? Replaced with quality? More expense.

Unless this FFP falls on its arse and Abu Dhabi manage to sponsor the goal posts for £800m per season they are in trouble. It's a fact that it is totally unsustainable.

It's already far too late for that. They lost £200M last year (the first year of FFP) and the maximum allowable over a 3 year period is £40M. To qualify they'd have to make a £160M profit over the next 2 years. Which, it's safe to say, they won't do.

City can't live within the boundaries of FFP. They've clearly decided to ignore it.

So what are sanctions? And are there measures in place to prevent City's owners throwing in a large directors loan or similar?

I heard there are loop-holes for City to get away with it. Not too sure what they are though.

If memory serves me right, rules don't allow for something like a loan from the owner. But the problem is indeed the sanctions. City could be find. Big deal. Throwing them out of the CL? It could happen, but unlikely.

If we've seen the past 2 summers as difficult then this year transfer's campaign will be terrible. AC Milan has just released 4-5 players who will need to be replaced, Chelsea have an ageing side, Arsenal and Inter need to strengthen their side, Shitty are in a stronger position then last year (they won the EPL), Juventus will want a squad capable of competing at both national and CL level + there's the EURO and the Olympics.

I can see SAF complaining that there is no value in the market.

I was watching his interview last night on MUTV at the awards. He said we have targets identified, or something similar. Didn't once say there is no value in the market.

He has a point though with the whole 'value' opinion. Why would a club sell at a reasonable price when teams like City, Barca, Chelsea and Madrid are willing to pay (and can afford) silly money?

I mean in few months time.

In previous seasons, Fergie has been quick to come out and say 'no value in the market'. Not this season though, he has come out and said we have targets.

The punishment for the first season (2014/2015) has already been announced. A warning shot will be fired across the bows of transgessors by reducing their EPL squad to 20. After that, the blanks haven't been filled in, but UEFA have declared their intention of making punishment meaningful i.e. no fines.

Clearly, the sanctions will be footballing rather than monetary. The squad reduction shows UEFA's thinking. Whether outright expulsion will occur in the second year, I don't know.

Edit: It is noteworthy that both Fergie and Gill have separately mentioned FFP in the last week. Fergie played it down, but clearly it's on their minds.

Well it was wearing a bit thin when the likes of Newcastle are finding value left, right and centre.

City seemingly dont give a shit about the FFP they reckon the Etihad deal with pass the UEFA scrutiny and will continue to pay silly wages and fees for top players.

City have no choice. As I said above, they can't meet the terms of FFP and be a top club. Their only strategy is to hope it doesn't happen.

There's a 'fair value' clause in the rules. I don't think a mickey mouse club like City getting a couple of hundred million in commercial sponsorships from companies, who all happen to be closely tied to their owner, will pass muster.

A club with zero fans outside the Manchester area will find it difficult to justify getting £10M from some business in the Middle East to put their badge on womens' knickers.

Two key points;

1) £30-35m is a reasonable price for a player as talented as Hazard. He won Ligue 1 player of the year last season and was again best this season, age 21. Market rate for a player of that caliber.

2) Fergie surely has a decent kitty to spend, based on the amounts the Glazer's had highlighted for investment per year in there plans and the fact we have spent nowhere near that net.

As much as I would love to have Eden with us, I fail to see how he will be accomodated in our 'Best XI'. I think most of you would agree to that fielding two strikers and him simultaenously will be hazardous.

This one could go either way really. Man City have made themselves an attractive proposition not just in terms of wages but the possiblity of trophies as well. But our midfield has a bigger vacancy than theirs. Hazard should be able to realise that after 1 more season there may be no Giggs/Scholes around. We will need big players to make that midfield their own. It's a great opportunity we're giving him and our credentials as a club don't need to be overstated. I'm hopeful but this year has been a massive kick in the bollocks for us.

Who's his agent, why havn't we heard form him at all

For opposition's defense ? Absolutely.
