Solskjaer

Wow, thanks for posting this. I don't remember if I have read it but reading it now just gives you this goose bumps like, he's a United legend for a great reason! He was only 25 at the time and he's so full of pride playing for us and was ever so humble and always learning. It is an attitude that all United young players should adopt and the interview should have been made a compulsory reading for youngsters at United :)

Solskjaer has denied the story about Manchester United playing a friendly in Molde this summer. Says he's not heard anything about it, and he's speaking regularly with Sir Alex and others at United.

Lad on another forum reckons he's going to Aston Villa. I've done some checking around (i.e. searched for "Solskjaer" on Twitter), and it's a rumour that's gathering some steam. He's now gone from 25/1 to 5/6 to join them.

I also saw this numpty:

Not sure about solskjaer as villa manager, may be too big of a challange for his first job #AVFC

Apparently he's just been playing tiddlywinks in Norway.

BBC are saying Ole is favourite to take over at Aston Villa.Big step up but if true, But i feel he'll do a good job.

I hope he doesn't go to Villa to be honest. I'm one of those who'd like to see him at United some day, depending on how he does in the next 2-3 years so I'm interested to see how he'll take Molde forward after winning the title, and to see how he can adapt to European competition (Molde get in at the 2nd Qualifying Stage of the UCL because they won the league).

I'd also like to see him manage United someday but I don't see him going to Villa as being a barrier to that. Sure he won't get to manage in Europe but the new Wolves manager has Champions League experience too (did ok against Barca too) but, with all the goodwill in the world towards Molde, at that level does it mean much?

If Ole were to get a crack at Villa or any of the historically fairly strong sides in England or the major European leagues I think it'd be much better training for one day taking over at Old Trafford. I'm excited by this news.

I reckon it'd be a great test for him and I'd like to see him get the Villa job. They have some great young players and a decent spine of experience but McLeish's tactics didn't work at all and it would be interesting to see how someone like Solskjaer could change that.

I agree that I's like to see him at United one day but if anything, getting the Villa job will increase the likelihood of that. Either that or he will prove he isn't good enough.

I would love to see this happen. Have two or three successful seasons with Villa and then become the manager at Manchester United for 25 or so years.

It's all planned out

I doubt he'll want to go there and I'd mush rather see him try and defend the trophy and have a go at Europe. He'll keep getting similar offers, so he's in no hurry.

OGS is doing a SAF job at Molde. He's not just gone there to win the trophy once and then feck off again. He's building the club from top to bottom. He'll want to leave them in a very strong position. He's still learning there, and even if the PL is something else entirely from the Norwegian league, I'm not sure if it's really a big step up to go to a team that at best can hope to finish in the top half next season. I'm confident he'll stay at Molde until the season is over at the very least (in November or something like that) and I also think that will be wise of him.

Think he should stay at Molde for at least another year then follow a similar route as Martinez.Take over a Championship side that will give him the support without fear of the sack looming over him. Then and only then step up to a PL side that will continue that.If he can deal with all the stuff then possibly Utd.But this will more likely be a good 5/6 years away at the minimum

Far too soon. He's had one great season in Norway, but like Keano and his one great season, making a huge leap up might be too much. Keano had no choice as he brought the team into the PL, but his inexperience set him back years in his own managerial development. Same with Ince.

Leave Ole alone to continue tinkering in Norway. He's brought his young team to the CL - why would he ever leave that to go to Villa with all their problems?

I thought I read he said he wanted to stay a few years and continue learning anyway.

It would be great to see him opposite Fergie during a match though

He needs a job where the fans will back him from day 1. Villa is almost the complete opposite.

Quite the contrary. After the shite they've been subjected to, they'd be delighted with half decent football.

Not too soon - but wrong club.

A club with little money - and very demanding fans.

Villa must be one of the most difficult clubs to take over

A successful season appears to be avoiding relegation but unlike clubs with much smaller budgets they harbour loftier ambitions..unrealistic IMO.WBAwould be a much better option if it came up

Yeah I understand the argument that Premier League experience (especially at a club with Villa's support base and history) would be beneficial if he were to take over here, also he'd be working in a bigger league where the pressure is higher which is obviously something he should experience. I just think that maybe for now staying at Molde would be a better measure of his ability to manage a club like United in the long term.

I'd like to see how he takes the club forward now that he's achieved some initial domestic success and implemented his own style of play, coaching and youth development. Also, the experience of defending a domestic league whilst juggling a domestic cup and a European competition is something he wouldn't get at a club like Villa and it'd be interesting to see how well he can deal with that both tactically and in terms of squad management. Ultimately I just think that maybe the challenge of staying at Molde for another season or two would be more akin to that of managing United than the experience of managing a club like Villa would be.

I think it'd be a great opportunity for him to be honest. They can only improve next season, especially if Bent can keep fit. They've been woefully mismanaged this past season

Indeed. Another great challenge at Molde that is similar to United, is to defend the trophy while simultaneously developing the youth he brings in. It must be brilliant for OGS to see Angan being the current top scorer, an incredibly wasteful and raw striker that he himself brought in. The idea that Villa is a bigger opportunity and challenge just because it's in the PL is a bit simplistic.

I imagine it would be hard for him to quit when there is a chance they could earn CL football.

If not for that I would say he should certainly take the Villa job.

I think this would be a bad move, and not because he's too inexperienced or anything like that. For me, the Villa job at the moment is a bit of a poisoned chalice. He's going into a club with high expectations to come top half at the very least, however they're skint and have quite an average team as well. There's a good chance that the best he can hope for is a couple of positions higher next season than this one, with better football. Villa fans will want more than that.

I actually think it'll be a great move for him. I've a few mates that are Villa fans and they reckon they wouldn't be expecting miracles straight away from Ole, they'd just be happy with a move away from the dogturd football they played under McLeish and would be happy with time being given to Ole to move the club in the right direction. If he kept them up next year with better football they'd see it as progress.

I think he'd do a good job there, and it would be an opportunity for him to stake a claim for the United job eventually.

Rumours were going around yesterday that the Villa-owners jet had been seen in Oles hometown. He's already ruled out ever taking the Liverpool and the City-job if he ever got the offer though  Good lad, our Ole!

Don't do it Ole :(

He was asked about the possibility of changing jobs just a few days ago where he straight out said that he would refuse any offer from any club at this very moment.

It's a great opportunity for him, but I would be surprised if he left his club before he got a chance to take them to the CL.

I don't want him to do a Villas-Boas.

He's got a chance to become a great manager, but you need to be patient. He's still young and is going to play in Champions League. Sometimes it's better to stay at the same club even if you have an offer from a better league, especially that it's his second year in Norway.

Stay at Molde, Ole.

I don't think it would be a good move for Ole. I hope he stays at Molde for at least a couple of years.

I do maintain he's got the characteristics to do a good job at Villa, but I just think the risk of relative failure is so much higher than the potential rewards for his reputation as manager/experience to go there.

At the very best, he'll have Villa fight for a Europa League place every year, which won't get him the right sort of experience for a future United-job anyway.

I'm so surprised that many of you don't realise what a great opportunity the Villa job is right now, it's similar to Redknapp when it took over Spurs, the only way is up. They have a much better squad already than their results last season, easily a top 10 side capable of playing some good football.
