Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

Not a sniff of a hope of getting him. If it was just Arsenal and us bidding for him then he would come to us as we could offer a bigger salary! Do the maths!!

I was very doubtful but have a little feeling he may be coming our way... we'll see...

I love this time of year my cherry bakewells tingle in excitement over names such as Ozil,Benzema,Sneijder and now Hazard, and in the end we will end up with Nigel Reo Coker on a free.

Am pretty sure that the whole "I will be playing in Manchester next season" statement from him will, when he signs for City, become "There is only one team in Manchester".

Would be standard fare given the "Welcome to Manchester" posters for Tevez...

"He's a young, talented player and at Manchester United there are a lot of people on the wings. I was in the same position last year and I chose City, and I don't regret my choice."

Hahah wanker.
If they had have ended up without a pot he'd be fuming.

You fool!

Just make peace with the fact we're going to sign Kagawa and a handfull of unknown players.

Don't hold on to hope!

We're gonna sign him, Kagawa to as well as handfull of unknown players and one other special talent.

I'm with gambs on this one. He's coming. I like how majority of the caf has no hope of signing him. Next year is going to be pretty hazardous for the opposition as we will be playing some shintillating football.

People still are obviously feeling very raw about the last 2 muppet years, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on you!.

But, ITS ON

By all accounts he is a wonderful player. But I just don't think he is signing for us. And although it would be massively exciting if he did, I am firmly of the belief that we need to strengthen in midfield as our top priority so would be worried if we blew a big wad of cash on this guy.

I will be utterly gobsmacked if Hazard joins United. I just cannot see it happening when you know the Sheikh will give the lad a blank cheque.

Yup.

The fact of the matter is that we can't compete with them financially, and have to hope that the manager and heritage of Manchester United is more of a lure than the money.

I firmly believe to a lot of players it will be.

The biggest issue with this is that promising young players are either practically being pimped out by their agents, looking for their cut, or are blinded by the money.

I think that sometimes it takes a slightly more mature player to realise that in terms of prestige, United is a better club to play for that City (much like when Park turned down Chelsea to play for us). Of course, this doesn't really fit in with the club's buying policy.

It really depends what Hazard determines more important.

We are both offering the same standard football, top of the prem and CL football.

They have perhaps a more competitive forward line too deal with, but will pay possible 50-100k a week more in wages.

We on the other hand are a very historic club known throughout the world, and look after players past and present.

We are a family club and are respected 100x more than city ever will be.

At the end of the day if hazard wants a quick buck and wants too be part of this "project" then fine, but if he wants too be a leader at the worlds finest football club, then let it be.

I don't see the point in it either. Yes, he's class, but we don't buy youngsters for 30m+ and offer them 200k a week here, it's madness to do so. Imagine what he'd be looking for after 3 or 4 years then.

It's just as somebody else said, City can offer him easy money and to be part of this 'project'.

We can put it to him that he could get the no.7 shirt. List the famous names who've worn that shirt. Really drive home to him how much it would mean to wear it and how he could possibly follow in their footsteps and help this club achieve more greatness.

So basically he might be able to choose between

  • wages in excess of £200,000 a week, playing for the current PL champions, Champions League, with lots of competition
  • wages in excess of £100,000 a week, playing for the most successful football club in England, Champions League, one of the most famous clubs in the world, guided by the greatest manager to ever grace the game, being a superstar, maybe getting the famous #7 jersey

Tough choice.

Last year Sanchez, the year before Ozil, Hazard is this years exciting young attacker that goes elsewhere.

Latest from the BBC (I gather from the posts above this is probably old news!) -

The future of Lille playmaker Eden Hazard will be decided after the French club hold talks with Manchester City and Manchester United next week, reports BBC Sport's David Ornstein.

No formal offers have been made but the Premier League rivals have signalled their intent to Lille and are currently the only serious contenders.

Belgium international Hazard, 21, recently said he would be playing in Manchester next season.

Full story will appear on the BBC Sport website shortly.

He is signing for City then.

He is signing for City then.

im getting really annoyed with people just saying "off too city".

Not every player in the world can / wants too play for city.

If your all going to be soo pessimistic you might aswell not bother posting

If it comes down to him sitting down with both clubs to compare deals we are not able to compete financially, even Gill has said that competing financially with city wont be possible for us. The war chest has gone missing about 24 hours after he declared there was a war chest. City will easily out muscle us on the money end of any deal.

I guess the thing is that they have a massive advantage, so its easy to understand that view. Say they just decide to offer 40 million and we only offer 25 then obviously we dont even get permission to speak with the player and put our points across.

I agree. I am not saying we're signing him, or City are but not every player would go there if they had an opportunity elsewhere. There is also no chance that even they will give him 150-200k a week. The clubs will be offering wages that are much closer than 75-100k a week apart, so who is to say he won't join us?

In saying that, you seem convinced that it is the only factor. We can offer things that City can not, in the same way they can offer money that we simply can not.

I get the feeling we're holding out on Kagawa until this Hazard stuff is over. He's probably our backup.

We stand more of a chance against City than Real or Barca. Nobody would turn them down.

That's a depressing fact in itself, but realistically for us to get him we'd need him to be a young player more interested in his development and the prestige of United over an extra 100K a week, maybe I'm cynical but I just don't see that happening.

I dont think anyone would deny we could offer him something by playing here and I dont think anyone would deny that we want to see him signing for United but we all know as well that money can and does play a massive factor and that has been proven by Chelsea and City in recent years, we dont have the buying power of those clubs, maybe he will want to play for a club with prestigious history and a great future ahead but I think we all need to keep in mind that wages are a massive pulling factor in a players mind and can make all the difference and if it does indeed come down to that then we wont have a chance.
