If it comes down to him sitting down with both clubs to compare deals we are not able to compete financially, even Gill has said that competing financially with city wont be possible for us. The war chest has gone missing about 24 hours after he declared there was a war chest. City will easily out muscle us on the money end of any deal.

Depends what he wants though, we can probably give him more regular football than City.

Plus City really do need to get their wage bill under control, so they might not be offering quite the same level of batshit wages they have been in the last few years.

There was an article on goal.com (yes I know) claiming that City were only offering him 100k a week.

Nancy is his last game tomorrow or Sunday. Something about that, and probably some other tease about his future.

I guess thats possible yes with regards to controlling the wage bill, there is always a possibility but hey ho we does this to ourselves every summer, I would love to see him signed sealed and delivered to us. It could happen but I wont get my hopes up quite yet, we could offer him more in terms of football, they could offer more in terms of money so it is really down to what he wants himself.

Debatable though, his style of play suits the City formation more than ours. If he came here he would have to adapt his game as I get the feeling SAF would like to start using him as a central midfielder rather than a winger, because we're much better stocked in the latter and he has the creativity and goals we lack in the middle right now.

I think he'd excel as the attacking player in a midfield 3 though, with maybe Carrick and Scholes sitting deep behind him, and I do expect us to start playing a 3 man midfield a lot more again next season.

Eden Hazard's future will be decided after Lille hold talks with Manchester City and Manchester United next week.

No formal offers have been made but the Premier League rivals are both interested in signing Hazard.

Belgium forward Hazard, 21, recently said he would be playing in Manchester next season.

Lille are unwilling to enter negotiations until after Sunday's final Ligue 1 match against Nancy, although they cannot finish higher than third.

The French club want to strike a deal on their terms and maximise the return on one of Europe's leading talents.

Hazard has scored 17 goals in 37 league games this season, with a further 16 assists, and featured in all six of Lille's Champions League group games.

He scored his first goal for Belgium, was named Ligue 1 player of the year for the second successive campaign, and has also been linked with Chelsea, Tottenham and Real Madrid.

But Premier League champions City and runners-up United have emerged as the only realistic candidates, and both have been in dialogue with Lille for some time.

Les Dogues are in no rush to complete Hazard's sale but accept he will leave this summer.

Meanwhile, they also expect contact from Liverpool next week to discuss the future of midfielder Joe Cole, who has spent the season on loan from Anfield.

I think we all understand the situation with cities financial power, and yes if it came too a straight shoot out of "so lads who will pay me the most", then yes we would never get close, but i dont think this is the case.

Lets not forget that Zidane was literally in Hazards ass for 2 years, saying how brilliant he was and he wanted too take him to real madrid and make him a star. But he has refused there advances and said he wanted too stay with Lille too grow as a player. He has done that, he has refused the bright lights of madrid and that gives me hope, hope that as a player and a man he isnt only interested in pure £££ sounds, but rather a solid foundation for him to go onto becoming a future star.

It just annoys me in literally every thread i read these days that somebody will quote "not interested he will go too city" im not saying this personally to you but whats the point of discussing transfers if all of them are going too city? its just getting a bit silly and damn paranoid.

If we REALLY are interested in hazard, we have a strong case of showing players how we are the right choice. Ronaldo joined us in a similar situation, and we gave him the time and protection to make himself the best there was.

He is on a relatively small wage at Lille, and wherever he goes, wether its city, utd, chelsea, arsenal, we will be blowing that wage out of the water.

He will be a very rich man whatever club he plays for, but will be the best he can be at those other clubs? i have a feeling not.

I know you are not directing it at me, however this is the silly season, the transfer forum has been like this year after year and it wont change over night. People do it almost in jest more than anything else from time to time. Brace yourself, the silly season in the transfer forum has just begun and the muppetry will get much worse. Its all downhill from here lads.

We can compete on transfer size but not on wages. They can offer easily more than us.

It's far gone the days that city were a just a club with a lot of money. City are now the champions and have arguably the best team in england, with a decent manager and a good future ahead of them, they will challenge for the title and CL next season.

With Ronaldo, I don't think he was rated as highly as Hazard is right now when he joined us. Hazard is literally rated as the best young talent around, whereas Ronaldo was more a would he fulfil his potential or not player.

Bottom line is that beyond the financial attractions of city, theres plenty more reasons that players would join them now. Of course we have the history and SAF, but it's far from the truth calling anyone that chooses them purely for money grabbing reasons anymore.

You cannot expect sanity and sense in the transfer forums. If you do you're just not made for the place

Yep, its just the way things are here over the summer period.

I preferto think of it as uphill. Wait til the Euros start and anyon who's had a good game becomes the next target for everyone. I will be in muppet heaven.

I'm thinking City would have to sell before buying if they want to have any chance of complying with fair play etc.

I have a sneaky feeling he'll be wearing a red shirt next season.

There probably more chance of wearing the red of Milan and Arsenal then the red of Man utd, harsh but sadly true..

It's alright. Everyone will say we never wanted him anyway. Gill will claim he's never heard of him and he was never a target...but we can still compete in the transfer market... and all will be well with the world.

So, we're being strongly linked with Kagawa and Hazard...

I don't get it, Fergie is probably going for the 5-0-5 formation or something.

There is plenty of room, or will be after player exits, for both Kagawa and Hazard.

I think we're in with a decent shot here of getting him as long as we offer relatively competitive wages to what City are, e.g. £120k p/w if City offer £150k.

That said, it is very possible that Hazard will look at City and think he may actually have more chance of winning trophies there, particularly the CL.

The attraction at City is no longer just bucket loads of cash; it's playing with some of the best talent in the world and challenging on all fronts.

The money is their USP, the deciding factor. If they didn't pay what they do, the talented players would move on to either clubs with a pedigree like ours or other plastic, high-paying clubs.

Fast becoming on of my pet peeves, that saying. They can offer lots more tbf. Playing in Europe, reigning Premiership champions, loads of money to spend in the future on other stars.

Obviously I want him here, but if he goes to City you can hardly say its purely for money.

Infairness, they also have the PL title to boast about (Captain Obvious to the rescueeeee). they are on a high now, interesting to see when pressure kicks in to retain it, but of course no player thinks about that until September.

Sources tell me Eden Hazard is in Manchester waiting on the corner of Deansgate for a man in a red Audi or blue Ferrari with a giant cheque.

No, it's just cash. Cash from a corrupt tyrant family.

Oh and their players are all mercenaries.

You sure they didn't say a red audi with giant cheques all over it?

True, granted Hazard is three years older than Ronaldo when United swooped in. Had the club waited till the following summer, after Ronaldo's exploits in Euro 2004, he would have been right up there with Rooney as the starlet of young players, and United probably would never have signed him with the likes of Chelsea, Real and the Italian clubs sniffing.

This is going to end up much like the Essien courtship. A club in Blue will offer the bigger transfer fee and far more wages. The player will suddenly proclaim how he's always wanted to play for this club, yadda yadda.

No way, SAF has the tendency to give players other position that what they've been known but he wouldn't THAT stupid to turn a winger/attacking player into a central midfielder.Hazard would never join United if that's what SAF has on his mind for him
