I'd also put it down to about 90% of this forum not actually being local. There's nothing wrong with that and so on, but it definitely informs the character of the majority on here. To my mind there is nothing in the football as good as this:

There is nothing in the football as good as Welbeck??

I love Welbeck, he's going to be a cracking player for us, but I'd be delighted with Hazard here behind Rooney. Welbeck will still get plenty of games.

Kagawa beside Carrick in midfield, with Young, Hazard and Nani behind Rooney and Valencia at right back sounds tasty to me. Evra and Valencia bombing forward and providing width.

Yeah, we'll concede lots of goals but we'll score feckloads more!

We will have more chance of being relegated than winning the league with this formation.

I know you're joking but Valencia, at his current age, should never be played as a fullback unless complete desperation has set in. It's a hideous waste of his ability. When he hits 30 he might drop back there as his pace declines to prolong his career, but otherwise it's Nani, Hazard, Valencia behind Rooney for me.

Not sure Kagawa would play alongside Carrick, but you never know.

No chance, with that selection of players we'd play lke Barca, no team would be able to get the ball off us. And after all, the only way to succeed in world football these days is to play like Barca.

I pity those that still fail to see why so many of us are excited about Welbeck. He's genuinely been the best thing about our season for me. In a few years time he will be regarded as one of the best strikers around.

You can be excited without overrating the lad though. I'd rather we played him than purchase a superstar striker with no ties to the club, but the fact remains that he still needs to improve. Not many have questioned his future potential

Yeah I wouldn't mind that. In a season or two I think Welbeck will see off Rooney, once he's added goals to his game. Welbecks one touch link up play would be brilliant with players like Nani, Cleverley and Kagawa and/or Hazard.

Valencia is too rigid, he can only play wide.

I was joking in reality, but I can see Fergie looking to play a more fluid front line, something that Valencia doesn't really fit into. I love the guy, he's a beast, but he doesn't fit a fluid forward line. At full-back he can stick to his flank and use his pace on the overlap, a la Dani Alves, Barca style. It would work.

Or more likey not.

And. Definitely and. No or about it.

Article with the quotes from earlier...

http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/900099-eden-hazard-ends-arsenal-transfer-hopes-by-reaffirming-desire-to-sign-for-rivals

"The departing Lille forward is set to make his much-anticipated decision on his future club in the coming weeks, but revealed he has a number of factors to consider before putting pen to paper on any contract.
‘I do not know when a decision will be made about my future club," he told the Belgian media after training with the national side.
‘It will be between Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.
‘The final choice also depends on how much play that I would get and the position where I play.
‘Not everyone can say that he can choose from these three clubs.’
Possibly hinting at the role he’s courting at one of the Premier League giants, the 21-year-old added: ‘I am pleased to be able to play in my best position behind the striker, as a no.10, with Belgium.
‘It’s now up to me to be as clinical with the national team as I was with Lille. The coach gave me confidence and I want to return the favour on the pitch.’
Hazard scored 20 goals and provided 16 assists for Lille in Ligue 1 this season."

United seems to be a best choice. There is room for new number '7' and '9' which are both iconic. Hazard could choose his role and have full season with Premiership, Champions League and Cups games.

If he wants to play 2 times in a week, that's even better. SAF never had a smallest problem with swapping positions of offensive players, during matches. Especially with Rooney and Nani who can attack from all angles.

The thing is, United is clearly making space for him in the squad, rather then already buying like Chelsea did. First Owen, now Berbs. (Propably even one more may departure from club.)

Hazard is priority and his importance to Fergie's football puzzle is pretty much visible with naked eye.

Its obvious the latest Hazard quotes suites Utd more than City and Chelski.Chelski don't even have a manager but i guess everything could change with both City and Chelski offering more cash.

Would like to attach my name to this sentiment! Completely agree.

The perfect striker would basically be Welbeck combined with the finishing of Hernandez.

Number 10 behind the striker? Isn't that Rooney's position? I can't see us leaving Welbeck out of the first team after the season he just had, and there is also Chicharito. He will have to play wide to get into our team i would think

I agree. Luckily, it is the same at Chelsea and City. In the future he has a chance of moving more central if he can become a big influence in our play.

Come on, Welbeck will never be as good as Rooney, unless he suddenly turns into the best young striker in the world.

I doubt he'll get his preferred position whatever team he joins, to begin with. Getting a run of games should be his priority.

I've angered the French with my comments earlier, this is what I have been pm'd by Luis Nani from the newbies:

Mate, take it from half English half french lad, whos dad is a passionate lyon fc supporter and i follow the french ligue

hazard is a better player than all of them, whether he will be as effective as Silva or Aguero in his first season will remain to be seen. But from dribbling/vision/first touch/finishing/passing Hazard to me is ARGUABLY better than them all

it just really ruffles up my feathers as i watch him week in week out and he really is Messi/Ronaldo levels

This is in relation to me saying that Nasri, Silva and Aguero are all currently better than him.

Let's keep this on topic. If you want to talk about Welbeck or Rooney, do it in another thread.

That too in the Eden Hazard thread.

Dearie me.

Everything happens in the Hazard thread. "It's not safe here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires, both subtle and gross. But it's not for the timid."

Any more mass thread derailings will produce a few infractions. If you want to have a long discussion about Hazard, do it here. Other wise, discuss other topics in their appropriate threads. Its not difficult.

Hmm. Seems clear from that that playing behind the striker as a number 10 is very important to him. He would be able to do that a lot more at City than with us to be fair considering they play one up top for all their games.

I think the beauty of signing Hazard would be his flexibility, we could always drop Rooney for certain games or move him up front. And for other games Hazard could play one the wings or in a midfield two.

Okay.

The latest Hazard quotes seem positive. Football issues are paramount with him, and that's got to be good for us. Chelsea don't have a manager and can hardly give him reassurances about his role in the team. City might buy Messi tomorrow, and can give nobody reassurances about anything.
