Shinji Kagawa | Signs for Manchester United

We need Kagawa more than Hazard. Hazard is more of a flair winger or a number 10 (from what I read anyway). Kagawa can play the creative AM that we lack.

After the Hazard thing, I have a sneaky feeling that Kagawa will be a disappointment too.

If we dont get him too, it's not too bad actually. We already have Nani, Valencia, Young and Park as wingers, and Carrick, Cleverly, Anderson, Scholes, Giggs and Fletcher as CMs. With Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez as strikers to rotate from, it's not too bad of a squad. Defence is not too shabby too: Rio, Vidic, Evans, Smalling, Jones, Evra and Rafael.

We just need another left back to compete with Evans and we'll be alright I guess.

This is a pretty weird thing to say.

not going to sucked into this thread.

Are you drunk?

I just dont think our current squad is that bad. This squad, minus Vidic and half a season without Scholesy, managed to push City right till injury time in the league. It was pretty bad in Europe I have to admit. That's where we need new recruits. Dont get me wrong, I'm also hoping we get a new attacking CM or maybe another 'exciting' sigining as well, but if we dont get any, it wont be so bad. City, with all their money, are still on par with us last season minus that two things i mentioned above.

Our midfield is laughably inept, otherwise we're fine.

Well this season Chelsea is also stronger. And just because we pushed City this year means it might be the same level next year. They have been improving every season in case you are blind. And at this rate, we won't be make it out of the knockout stages in Europe depending on the opposition.

We are a team of laughably inept midfielders that finished level on points with a team with midfielders of Yaya Toure-Samir Nasri-Gareth Barry-James Milner-Nigel De Jong-Adam Johnson. Right.

Like I said, I am hoping for a new recruit or two in midfield.

Just that our current midfielders arent that rubbish. They might not be the best, but surely not as bad as you guys put it.

We were extremely fecking lucky that Scholes came back with a bit of form in him. If his form dropped any small bit we would've finished well behind them. Him and Carrick were our only fit midfielders essentially at the end of the season.

We got knocked out of a group containing Benfica, Basle, and Otelul Galati. We need to improve our midfield.

Without Scholesy.

Yes, we do need.

Yeah, but he was retired. We knew he wouldn't be playing yet still didn't plan for his absence. Injuries to Cleverley, Anderson, and Fletcher left us with Carrick. We should have bought someone last summer, but given our failures this year because of the lack of a new midfielder, it's more important now to buy one or two midfielders. Giggs has no business starting in midfield, as was shown over the last two months of the season. He can do a job as a sub, bue he's not what we need playing there routinely. Nor is Scholes. At least not if we want to have some life without them in a year or two.

Without Scholesy.

Yes, we do need.

Scholes is class, but he'll be 37 - 38 next season. God knows whether he can produce for an entire season that champagne football he had produced throughout the past months. I hope that we won't be relying on Scholes once again. However getting a quality CM had proven tough for us.

In every game that we lost, it was in midfield where we lost it. We need better midfielders.

I doubt SAF would have gone to scout a player himself all the way in germany a day before, on an evening, before the most crucial match of the season…for a back up!

ManUnited zahlt 15 Millionen Euro

Sayonara!

Seriöse Quellen in England nennen bereits feste Eckdaten. Der BVB erhält eine Ablöse von umgerechnet rund 15 Millionen Euro. Dieser Sockel kann sich durch Zusatzvereinbarungen noch um einen siebenstelligen Betrag erhöhen.

According to reliable german magazine "Kicker" the deal is done, 15m€ + add ons.
We just need to put pen to paper.

Reports out of Germany that the deal is done.

ManUnited pays 15 million euro Sayonara! The change of Shinji Kagawa (23) into the Prime Minister League is so well perfect. Only the signatures are missing still. [...] As oozed at the Pfingsmontag from the surrounding field of the English vice-master, the clubs involved essentially agreed. Of Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc (49), which announces to particulars of this kind in principle only execution, even if the signatures took place, did not want this opposite the kicker however yet to confirm.

He says: " The transfer is not abgeschlossen." yet; Respectable sources in England call already firm basic data. The BVB receives one replaces from converted approximately 15 million euros. This base can increase by supplementary agreements still by a seven-place amount.

He was most likely a back-up plan to Hazard as suggested before, nonetheless he's a good player and at that price possibly a better alternative, especially if we're going to use the money to bring in a defensive midfielder.

If you want to believe some journo's we were after both.

12m quid plus extra if he meets certain performance milestones. A fantastic piece of business if the report is accurate. A much more efficient way to go about things than 40m transfer fees and 200k/wk before tax.

It looks a good deal but Hazard won't be on 200k, how much tax do you think footballers actually pay? Top clubs have a number of tax avoidance schemes going on. I would guess at 30% max.

I don't know. Do you ?

I'm just guessing multimillionaires pay higher tax percentages.

I wont be surprised if Kagawa was not a back-up plan but our no. 1 target and that we didn t really want to go all the way to get hazard.
I m under the impression that this story of us being close or favourites to sign hazard originated from hazard's agent when negotiating with chelsea and city.
Moreover, i cannot imagine fergie wanting to sign someone running that farce on twitter.
So why didn t the club deny that we were interested?
For two reasons imo:
1. our supposed interest in hazard was used as a smokescreen while negotiating other deals.
2. Officially, it is safer to say that we tried to sign him than not. Firstly because of all the criticism the club gets for not trying to sign the best players. And secondly, because if hazard proves to be a success, it would be better for the club to say that we tried to sign him than not..

Sweet.

I don't think Kagawa was ever a backup plan. I think Fergie wanted both.

So do I. Hazard is a unique player and Fergie probably saw buying both as preferable to losing out on Hazard.

I'm happy with Kagawa, as he's very underrated in the midst of the Hazard hype. Saving about 40m on Hazard will allow Fergie to go after other players (Modric, Strootman, Martinez, M'Vila etc)

I think Kagawa was the #1 plan, and Hazard was the "exceptional talent exception" to our usually financially prudent plan. A (made up) example would be signing Hernandez and then Rooney becoming available at the same time. Or even signing Smalling and then Jones becoming available (by virtue of someone else bidding for him).

This would be an outstanding piece of business for us - few times I saw him he looked quality and by all accounts he had been hugely influential in this exciting Dortmund side. And without being stupidly expensive either.

They should by law, it is 50%. The reality is that they generally pay less though.

They are operating like big businesses. Using tax avoidance schemes and then settling a reduced rates later.

The method most of them use, is to set up a company and make themselves directors. The clubs pay the money to that company and players as directors can pay themselves as they like.

Has there ever been a world class or even top tier footballer from Asia?

I always consider Nakata to be the continents biggest footballing star, but also to be a bit overrated.

So this guy Kagawa. Is he the greatest Asian prospect of all time?

Because that is what we need him to be.

I would say Kagawa is pretty near the top tier. Two fantastic seasons for the German champions in a very competitive league, and absolutely battered Bayern Munich in the cup final this season. A bayern team that Chelsea just couldnt live with for long periods of the CL final.
