Shinji Kagawa

He's primarily playing off the left but drifts in often. His goal was very well taken though. Struck first time from the edge of the box and placed perfectly in the corner.

They do that to get Keisuke Honda into the side. Kagawa's versatile enough to play anywhere across the pitch behind a central striker. Wherever you play him in that area you can trust he'll pop up and make something happen.

Keisuke Honda scored another 2 today aswell, he really impresses me everytime i see him for Japan.

There must be a reason why bigger clubs have not come in for him? i dont get it.

It's all done, barring a medical which he can't fail since even Saha, Owen and Hargreaves managed to sneak past it and a work permit which even that Miyachi kid from Arsenal got.

Ruud failed his first medical IIRC.

Actually, he came for a medical while he was out with some non-major injury, and our doctors were concerned about his knee. I think we wanted to do some sort of expolatory surgery, PSV refused, he went back to Holland, and broke down with a cruciate within days.

More like a new Silva or Mata. He's nothing like Messi.

Errr.... What?.. Hahaha

Eh? Kagawa scored 17 this season alone. He has 29 in 71 appearances in the last two seasons in Germany (moved mid-season, including Japan 36 in 83), Hazard 34 in 100. The assist stats are correct.

That's:

Kagawa in Germany:
Played 71
Goals 29 (0.40 per game)
Assists 15 (0.21 per game)

Kagawa in Germany and Japan:
Played 83
Goals 36 (0.43 per game)
Assists 15 (0.18 per game)

Hazard:
Played 100
Goals 34 (0.34 per game)
Assists 26 (0.26 per game)

Yeah - was wondering myself.
Bell end Chelsea fan posted it to me on my Facebook.

Honeslty didn't bother. The stats were woeful and the attempt to justify splunking 40m euro over 12m even worse. good for a chuckle though.

If you're right, that's exactly what our team needs the most, imho.

I mean, you'd take Messi, but he's a once in a generation sort of player, seems a bit pointless to suggest a team 'needs' someone like him because that sort of talent is so rare.

Personally I think we need some cover for Carrick and Fletch more.
But that problem is a lot easier to mask due to having a quality back four.

In attack we probably need that creative floating playmaker but imo we need the steel just a little bit more.

(Still super stoked we've signed Shinji though.)

Hazard also has 81.4% pass accuracy from last season, 2.8 key passes per game, dispossessed 2.8 times per game, total ball turnover 2.7 times a game

Kagawa has 85.1% pass accuracy last season, 1.8 key passes per game, dispossessed 2.2 times per game, total ball turnover 1.7 times a game

As we can see from that Hazard is the more creative player, but also gives the ball away more often trying to do things. Kagawa loses the ball less

Hazard averaged 51.9 passes a game, whereas Kagawa was 37.7. Expect Hazard to get on the ball more often.

Does it show a little bit of greediness? More of a 'one-man' style stature from Hazard than Kagawa had in the Dortmund side.

It is quite something to see how much better a player Kagawa is now you've signed him and how much worse Hazard is now Chelsea signed him.

I said I didn't want him anywhere near the team long before Chelsea signed him. I think a player like him don't have the team mentality that United requires. We already have Nani as our magician.
And to be honest I didn't even know this guy we just signed was a footballer. But now that he's signed I might as well play along and pretend I know everything about him - in real life that is. I suck up all the information on here and pass it on as my own :p

Everyone who actually watched kagawa wanted him here. He's fecking class

Not saying I wouldn't have liked to see hazard here . Both very good players with hazard having a tad more potential probably.
Both playing differently though and most of the time in different positions.

To be fair a fair few people wanted Kagawa (maybe after seeing his vid hehe). I would have liked Hazard though but then he opened his mouth

Its always the way, is it surprising?

Not everyone wanted him here, especially instead of Kagawa if that was the case.
