The squad for the Champions League is a different matter but he'd be able to fit in the Premier League squad if it comes to worst case scenario that nobody has come in for him by the time the transfer window shuts.

Well thats handy, thanks. With Berbatov's record in the champions league we certainly wont be registering him for that  But its good to see that if the worst comes to the worst, we arent going to have to choose between him and a player in another position for registration and we dont have a "forgotten man" who isnt even in the squad.

I'm shocked that Tottenham haven't gone for him since every other decent striker in the world has turned them down.

I'm sure we'd get some offers in for him, considering there were talks with other clubs before. He's still got it in him to do good, given he goes to a team that suits his type of play. It's not like he is not good. Always had that touch of class.

Also good to know, if worst comes, he can still be registered. We'd probably have a full PL squad if we sign Henrique. Still i'm hoping he goes to a good club, gets gametime, and plays class football, and does well.

Still 13 days for an offer, which I think will come in these days thought it could be lower than we want. I am very surprised why Milan haven't come knocking yet, while I understand that Arsenal are not interested for him knowing that Arsenal too like to play quick football.

One thing for sure he needs regular football and we need the money so we can reinvest ion our squad.

With AVB looking for a new striker , maybe desperate measures will lead him to Berbatov

I said it before and I'll say it again, if he was willing to move to a smaller club like Sunderland or QPR, he'd have been gone by now. He seems to be only interested in joining a club that at the very least will offer Champions League football and so far there has been nothing.

Money isn't the issue here. We have put a modest price tag on Berbatov (less than half of what Steven Fletcher is apparently worth) and we'd probably take 3 million for him at this point, so United aren't halting any deal. I don't think Berbatov is looking for an unreasonable salary either, because if he were just looking for a payday and didn't care where he played, I'm sure he could of went to China, MLS or some Saudi club.

Another problem is the fact that their doesn't seem to be alot of interest from any club in a top European League for a 30 year old strikers no matter how class they are. Del Piero is still a free agent, there was very little interest in Diego Forlan and he went to Brazil and now Berbatov is finding it very difficult to find a decent club.

We're a top club, it's enough to look at it from our perspective.
Ok, we've recently gotten the best striking options in the game right now, but generaly speaking, unless we'd be in a real striker crisis would you want us to go looking for an over 30-year old or would you rather us try and sign a younger player that you can play for many years or sell him for a profit.
I mean I'm aware Berba's class and I'll always be of the opinion that he wasn't "treated fairly", and being the kind of person he is, calm, collected, loves our club and never bitched about stuff just made it that much harder for me to accept it, I LOVE the guy (no homo), I just fully understand why he's not seeing much interest from top clubs, although one could make a case for a certain club.

I'm beginning to think he will stay with us until January at least where foreign clubs can sign him on a pre-contract. His wages are a huge stumbling block

Another made-up story, imo. As far as I know, Stefan Jovetic is the highest paid player they currently have on about 2.4 million per season, Berba is on 5 million at Utd. Would he agree to his wages being slashed severely? I am not sure Fiorentina can afford him.

It's possible we could come to an arrangement where we agree to top up his wages to their current level for the first year of his contract at Fiorentina, or negotiate a lower transfer fee to let Fiorentina top him up with a hefty signing on fee. The fees being spoken about for him are pretty derisory for a player of his quality, so I'm sure the wages will be taken into account.

Can't believe he'll finish the transfer window with us. We may loan him or whatever, but there's absolutely no point in him being here. Unless there's something going on and we sell him for a few millions, extending his contract just to make a little profit would turn out to be a mistake.

You can be sure we would miss him within a few months once we get rid of him, the same way some fans out there miss John O'shea.

2.4 for 4-5 yrs

Berba knows that he could never get again 5 million/yr (maybe in china, quatar, saudi arabia)

Can't wait for someone on here to make a tribute video for Berbatov. I'm sure it will be very wank worthy what with all of his incredible touches, turns and flicks.

Play him and RvP upfront against Fulham. He can't do any worse than Rooney on Monday

To be fair we have absolutely no idea what clubs have approached us over Berbatov.

Why doesn't anyone seem to want him?
Because all the people who think Berbatov is this world class, game changing, goal machine worth his current wages are located in this one thread and not in charge of any clubs.

This, and given our weak negotiating position (completely of SAF's own making) I imagine clubs will leave it until the last week of the window when they can panic us into accepting a deal for him.

I would have Sir Alex's babies but he has handled the whole Berbatov thing badly. From negotiating with whatsisname at Spurs to not being able to get a fee for him now and a lot in between.

:lol::lol::lol:

Only if we think Sir Alex is lying that theres been nothing with Berbatov. In which case, for all we know Barcelona are in for Bebe.

Plus ya know, he has absolutely no reason to say there has been no movement with him, the moment a team makes an offer he's best off saying "YES LOADS OF TEAMS REALLY WANT HIM!" to try and push the price up.

Instead I suppose the theory from people in this thread is that he's saying there have been no offers because he just wants to keep Berbatov and disrespect him for another season. Because thats what our manager does. Signs a player for a record fee, plays him even when he's playing shite for 3 years and then one day wakes up and thinks "I'll just pick on Berbatov till his contract runs out"

Brilliant.

Impressive list - after la Cunha Darren Barr de Abreu Rio Gavin endangered Mosquito Balcazar Quinta Rozenkrantz, Shinji Kagawa seems a bit boring.
