Berbatov at Man United overall then, hit or miss?
All things considered you'd have to say miss. I don't think it was all down to him though.

Get off that fence! Hit or miss?
Neither a hit or a miss.
He certainly had a poor first 2 seasons. You can argue and throw as many stats as you like at me to attempt to prove otherwise. I watched every game and he was so frustrating. He also produced a couple of pitiful performances especially in the CL and towards the end of the both the 1st two seasons in league and cup games.
His 3rd season he came through for us. He had some fantastic games. But it was clear once we got Rooney back to full fitness he was never in Fergie's plans. We ended up looking a better side with him out of the team in that 3rd season for me.
He should have left after he was dropped for the CL final. It was a clear hint from Fergie. But he stayed and his 4th season was predictably a wasted year.
I think he should have gone to Juve, and try to be a star in Serie A. I think he would have been a hit. He has taken the easier option with Fulham, for whatever reason.
I don’t wish any hard luck on him for the remainder of his career and I will watch with interest. I am certain he will become their main man very quickly.
But I am pleased he has left Utd. He never felt like a Manchester Utd player to me and I was always baffled with the adoration he received from some of our fans. Far better Utd players have left this club over the past 20 odd years and have left a much greater legacy than Berbatov.
That's the most expensive hat-trick ever, Sir.Miss but worth the money simply for the Hatrick vs Liverpool.

Is this actually the real Berbatov?Berbatov on twitter:
@TheRealBerbatov: I would like to say a great thank you to Sir Alex Ferguson. You are one of the best managers in the game and I thank you for believing in me
Classy guy.
I'm going to go with hit and miss.
Hit:
Although it was alot of money, we essentialy got what we paid for. He moved here at 27 and was the finished article, it wasn't like he was going to get significantly better. It's much different than buying a 19 year old, where you expect them to improve. We basically got the same Berbatov that was at Tottenham right down to the streaky goal scoring pattern and amount of goals scored.
Why I consider him a hit is because I feel that he played a vital role in our 19th title. It's a team game and I'll never claim he was the sole reason, but the fact is he replaced our talisman and creative force in Rooney for half a season and helped us pick up wins. Even when not scoring in some of those games, he still created chances and his overall play was very good. Like Rooney, he contributed in a big way even when not scoring goals. Having said that, being able to replace a star player and not miss a beat is an incredible achievement. Take other clubs' version of Rooney out and they'd be in trouble if they didn't have someone that could contribute for them like Berbatov did for us.
Miss:
I think Berbatov could've been so much better if he actually applied himself and immersed himself into the United way. He knows he's talented and I think he figured that was all it took. When Hernandez comes off the bench he runs onto the pitch and is closing everyone down and fighting for his place. Berbatov comes off the bench and saunters onto the pitch and just plays his prefered style of football with no urgency at all. I'll even go as far to say, that he doesn't have any fight in him.
Although a hugely talented player and joy to watch, I don't think he's built for a top club. I'm not at all surprised he chose Fulham over Juventus. At a big club the demands and expectations on performances are massive. At Fulham as long as they aren't in a relegation battle, he'll be able to play his way of football and not have to worry about competing for spots.

Is he being sarcastic?
Is he being sarcastic?
The thank you for believing in me part would make it seem like he is being, considering belief is one of the things Sir Alex has quite clearly always lacked when it came to berba![]()
He has never publicly complained, and he leaves a classy goodbye message, and somehow people still try to read too much into it?![]()
I reckon Berba might have a fairly quiet career after United. It happens to a few players. Going from an established player at United to playing for a mid table club, it must be hard to keep motivated.
are berbs and carroll eligble to play today?
like he was motivated here.
“Tevez did it out of spite. But I wouldn’t do something like that. I had the opportunity to sign for City but I chose United."
“I feel happy playing in this team. It is everything I thought it would be. Ryan Giggs has been here since the beginning and says he never wanted to go anywhere else. I don’t want to go anywhere either.”
“I am just myself. I don’t want to be compared with anybody else – especially a legend like Cantona."
"I don’t play for myself, I play for the team. You have 75,000 people supporting you every game, the most successful coach in the world and the best players in the world. What more could you wan"
“I am lucky. I have loved my time here. I was disappointed with myself that I could not please all the supporters. I have said before the people of Manchester United are the judges and that is the way it should be. It is their team. I am a guest. A privileged guest.”
“He is one of the most successful managers in the history of the game. I write things down about the way we train and how he treats people. It is like a school. You work with the best manager and play with the best players. I try to learn. I am at the biggest club in the world. If I can learn anywhere it is here.”
“My agent called me to say we have interest from Manchester United. I said: ‘Don’t joke with me’ but he said he was serious. So I was speechless. When the biggest club contact you, it’s a big deal for me coming from a small country like Bulgaria.”
“The truth is, I love this club, but I am not going to be useful to anyone, if I am not playing. And I want to play, I want to help. But for unknown reasons it’s not going to happen, or my chances will be limited, so it’s better for everyone if we say goodbye.”
"By joining United, I achieved everything"
Why do you think he wasnt motivated here?![]()
In this thread I was one of his biggest critics and I always said that he was never United quality and we should never have signed him (which I still think). But on the other side he is the definition of class and his behavior at United is unprecedented, the best ever from a non-academic player.
I really wish him all the best and I hope that next year in OT he will have a good acceptance from United fans.
Really he is not either Berbatop or Berbaflop but he will always be remembered as Berbaclass.
all spot onI don't think I was alone in having Berba as my favourite non-academy Utd player. So much to like; his astonishing technique, the way he tried to do everything the beautiful way, his sheer class off the pitch, his unassuming character and modesty. He was an entertainer; just the kind of player I want to watch when Utd play.
