Southampton vs. Manchester United

There will be people like Pogue and others who will still talk about how we don't need any other midfielders and that we are fine in the area...

why are our crosses always blocked by the first person in the box ?

We've looked better since Scholes came on.

He's still our best CM

Whatever, man. If it goes in he's a hero.

Exactly, people slating that penalty would've been the ones praising Pirlo for it's 'coolness'. It's generally a poor type of penalty to take though and an overrated one at that.

I honestly can't see where that would come from. It'd have to be a moment or two of individual brilliance, because we're sure as feck not creating anything.

It's what we depend on far too often. Bottom line is we are not a team, we have no plan going forward and even less defensively.

I have been saying it for weeks and no-one takes any notice. I said this would happen before the game, because when you realise why it is happening, you know nothing is being done to address it.

I wish I was in Plech's Language thread.
*blubs like a girlie*

Don't look like we've got the bottle to win this game...team looks half asleep, and Soton look like they are hungrier today.

So you want to limit our numbers in midfield? good one!

Our lack of ability to play 433 is scary. We simply have no pattern of play. We look a far better team playing 442. The fact we have no mobility in the middle of the park is immaterial. 442 serves us better.

Someone tell our players that when you pass the ball, you have to move into space, in order to create chances.

Long diagonal balls from central midfield utter shit. The game moved on 10 years ago.

Every time we get the ball up around the opponent's area, nothing seems to happen. No runs, no shots just pass, pass, pass until the opposition regains possession. Seems to have happened in a lot of our games for a while now.

Whats with these long lofted balls into the stirker?

FFS they rarely work. We are not Stoke.

Fits our overall playing style.

Tactically we look like an average English team from one or two decades ago.

Stand off as long as possible then when you got the ball try a long pass to one of your strikers and hope he can score.

If a team like Southampton starts to look tactical superior to your team it's time to wonder if a better tactical adviser would do the team some good.

And it comes down to trying to nick a result in the last 10 mins against Southampton.
