Manchester United vs. Galatasaray

Van Persie not seeing enough of the ball. Scholes and Valencia gifting possession away at every opportunity. Kagawa looks quality, combination between him and Nani has looked promising...

The thing is the Basle game they just grew and grew into it, and we never got back into it at all. Once they scored the floodgates opened. Tonight doesn't quite have that feeling yet, but we really need to up the ante in the 2nd half and stop being so damn sloppy. Scholes has almost cost us 5 times with his sloppyness alone.

Almost 5? Only twice, which is twice more often than he ever does. Everyone has bad games, we'll turn it around in the 2nd half and the Basel game was much different as they just didn't grow into it, they were creating chances from the get go.

The left side has to get their s*it together, because all the penetration comes from our right, and when the opposition knows whats coming, it's piss easy to defend against it.

its because we are triple loading down the right. Valencia, nani and Kagawa have all been piling down the right flanck en masse.

Feels tactical as it happened several times.

Galatasaray's a very good side to be fair. Won the league last season, leading it this season.

We really have got away with it. They should have had two pens. But Scholes, Nani and Valencia have been so sloppy. RVP non existant

And the worst thing is people seem to actually listen to what he says...they think that Carrick tackle was a penalty, when it so clearly wasn't, and they seem to think we really have been dominated for 30 minutes. We've had 57% possession, lads, and Valencia's been in acres of space three or four times with plenty of bodies in the box, and he's beaten players for fun at times, the end product's just been off. There's more goals in it for us and it'll be a comfortable win.

And it's been a good game. Enjoy it.

WE have had 57.3% of the play at 44 minutes.

WE have won 51.7% of the duels on the ground

WE have won 64.3% of the aerial duels

It is not our finest hour, and other stats are not as good, but we are not being dominated

where are those stats from? because it doesnt feel like we have 57% of the ball. Sportsnet here reporting 51/49

Don't think nani has been as bad the other two in fairness.

He's not been involved enough, a few nice moves with Kagawa and Evra, and the chance early on but maybe it's a confidence issue. Valencia's crossing is Bebe like.

Would like to see our wingers (Valencia in this case) drive into the box more, especially along the back line and see if that can unhinge the defense more , get them turning their backs on their man.

Gala hav hit the post twice for starters and should have had a penalty. Of course we're lucky to be ahead

To be fair on the first one that hit the bar, De Gea kind of pulled away from the shot and it flicked off the top of the bar.

Our wingers are shambolic so far. With Scholes looking old today this performance is the logical result

Nani has been a bit sloppy but overall he has been quite good IMO. He has been a constant threat.

Was it Van Persie who assisted the goal?

Kagawa.

And on a side note, I bet anyone on here 10 bucks that we score from a Valencia cross in the 2nd half, that's usualy what happens when people "trash" one of our player's performances, whether it be a lack of a save, tackle, cross or goal :D

Nani has been fecking shit so far, I think he is the only player who has actually done badly.

It was in the first few minutes that he had Van Persie all alone on the edge of the box and any decent ball plays him in...instead Nani hit it weak and behind him and a defender was able to get back in time. Very annoying.

Van Persie has not been in the game at all.

To be fair to him as a striker he's dependant on what's going on behind him and it's not really been clicking. Van Persie's great but he's not Ronaldo, he's not gonna pick up the ball on half way accelerate away and score. Van Persie is actually the least of our worries IMO.

So-so opposition stretch us at home. Not much different from last year.

The sad truth is we're no longer a great side, and despite a couple of good purchases, we didn't solve our problems in the transfer window. We shouldn't be relying on a 38 year old in the centre of the pitch.

Yeah, that pass alone means he was shit for the whole first half.
