Liverpool vs. Manchester United

Liverpool are supposed to win this game.

Which would make a United win so fecking delicious.

Hope our boys are right fecking up for it and hit the floor running come KO.

Liverpool are like us in the 80:s they only feck up being in the top 4. We never lost to the cnuts when they were superior. Today I fecking expect us to lose to that vermin. feck it we are still 4 points ahead of that shite

That'd be impressive, even for us.

I'm just hoping the pattern doesn't repeat itself which is Liverpool showing a huge amount of intensity, us being rattled by it and spending the rest of the game trying to piece together our game. Would be great to see us playing with some sort of fluidity and self belief in our passing game from the start.

Would like to see this midfield and attack

Carrick Cleverley/Anderson
Valencia Kagawa Nani
Van Persie

Although the thought of us going with Anderson and Cleverley in midfield and really going at them does excite me.

I think you are right with that midfield - carrick sitting and the energy of Anderson and cleverley will be effective

I just hope we turn up - if we defend solidly we know that Nani/Valencia can tear their fullbacks apart - no point if we go there and don't close down quick enough, are wasteful in possession and let the crowd get up

it'll be the usual frenzied physical assault from them with the ref being too much of a shitehouse to rein them in - long history of appalling refs here. With the outpouring of sympathy, we've not got a dog's chance of being allowed to play football.

Still fancy us to nick it though.

dont see anything other than a liverpool win

so much so that im putting money on it, at least that will take some of the pain away

It's sad when you hear things like this;

Like feck the United fans will behave. They are well known as the worst and the most pathetic and low fans in the whole of Europe. I hope they get what's coming to them if they act up. Those fecking cnuts

Of course I am in no position to know anything about our away supporters but I generally get the impression that they are usually well behaved and quite jovial. I really hope we behave and come out squeaky clean. Especially in this rough time of the Liverpool fans.

Ideal scenario: our fans show their class respecting the tribute, we win, Liverpoo go bottom of the Prem
I was just mildly aroused

Just glad you didn't mention Anderson cleaning out Gerrard and Patrice Evra nutmegging Suarez before putting one in the top corner

With all the other baggage surrounding this fixture, all I care about is finishing this one. We can all move on.

Hopefully with a win.

aye - with all due sympathy of course, the feckin commotion is a bit OTT. "Let's have a memorial day about Hillsborough and let's have one about an investigation whilst we're at it". A bit of quiet, dignified getting on with what has to be done would be too much to ask.....and I'd qualify that by saying the constant hoo-haa about Munich is also a bit OTT. There was little of it in the 60s and 70s when it was closer to the heart but we have to feckin wallow these days. Perpetuation rules. The "findings" came out a week and a half ago - if they'd been playing QPR you'd only be aware of a quiet recognition at the home game. It's Evra all over again - nothing to do with what happened - more about who is the opposition.

Move on indeed. Help all the families concerned and if anyone is passing the hat around or needs support, count me in, but leave the feckin circus out.

Is Anderson fit? If so, then I'd put him alongside Carrick instead of Cleverley.

I still believe that Anderson gives us some bite in midfield, and he'll actually get the ball and run at the oppostition.

Hopefully they'll have the same sort of feeling that our players had on the 50th Munich anniversary and we'll stuff them. We should do anyway given our superior team, probably just need to weather an early storm.

On the contrary, psychologically it can give the players a lift. It's great for everyone involved with the club to physically know what they are playing for and traditions like keep that fire going. So I don't really mind.

When you look at things like when Itandje acted like a complete tit at the memorial you just think to yourself. 'In life where these guys are doing something most of us dream about can't they show some morsels of respect for traditions that the clubs uphold?' of course it isn't a perfect world however.

After the memorial service for the twentieth anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster in April 2009, complaints were made by members of the congregation that Itandje had been laughing and behaving inappropriately during the service. His actions were condemned by the Liverpool hierarchy, who stated that they would be seeking to impose the maximum punishment possible. Itandje apologised to the grieving families and to Liverpool fans for his behaviour and was suspended by the club for 14 days. He did not play another game, at reserve or first team level, for the club. Following his move to Atromitos, Itandje apologised emphatically.

edit: Misspelled.

I presume you mean their players? and that is debatable but is that what it should be about anyway?

edit: wtf is Idjante? and wtf anyway?

Well, yes. Referring to Munich and United and Hillsborough for Liverpool.

Of course it is what it is about. What are you playing for on that particular day? Just another three points? Or to honour the memory of those looking down on United who's blood sweat and tears also flow in the veins of the club.

On pure season by season analysis it is just another game and another 3 points but psychologically it could invoke a positive reaction to those who know what it is to give your life for a cause.

As well, on the other hand like you said - it's just another 3 points and life goes on.

I am not trying to discount it either way but I am for honouring traditions however old they are. If I was the manager I'd be using it in a way where the players could glean a positive lift from the traditions.

Guessing he means Charles Itandje, quick google and it seems he was pissing about during the remembrance service in the stadium. The incident seemed to end his career at Liverpool.

Ill settle for one nil win for us and coming out of it with our reputation in tact. And a strong ref, but lets be honest, they could gang rape evra on the goal line and we wont get a penalty this weekend!!

I've a feeling we'll win this. However for some reason I expect another Evra massacre on here if he's gonna go up against Sterling. He's a bright prospect, but don't get me wrong it's not like I rate him that highly, however I feel as if he's the kind of player that might give Evra headaches.

Any half decent winger with pace gives Evra headaches these days.

I fecking hate Liverpool v United games. I just dread them these days. There's absolutely nothing enjoyable about them: the quality of these games is dreadful, without exception, we invariably fail to produce even a half-decent performance; instead we usually just end up meekly surrendering. Also, the crowd howls at every. single. tackle. (or any even remotely suspicious event, really) if a freekick's not awarded. Stoke fans are the other horrible offenders at this, gets on my nerves every time.

I just hope it won't be as humiliating as it was in 2011. No Kuyt hat-trick this time but it can be worse, it might be a Suárez quintuple or something. But nothing good ever happens at Anfield, that's for sure. Not anymore.

I used to look forward to this fixture, but not after the shit I saw over the last four years. I don't recognize United at Anfield, I have the impression that it's an other team that is playing, a rather average team. When was the last time an attacking player had a good performance there ? I can't remember any.

There must be some kind of mental block, our attacking players always bottle it at Anfield.

Air of inevitability about this one, only reason why I wont just skip the game completely is that nagged feeling of what if :(

Guys prepare yourselves for rubbish football from us tomorrow, in that case if we do play rubbish then we will have expected it but if we play half decent it will be a bonus.

Go into everyone of these games thinking we'll surely turn up this time and match Liverpool for desire/commitment/motivation

We're due a big performance - don't let us down lads
