Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Because he's picked Carrick and Scholes?

I've got some bad news for some of you, Carrick and Scholes will play a lot of games together this season.

Carrick and Scholes are so shit. I mean they went unbeaten when played together for about 4 months last season. Overrated hacks.

De Gea
Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Rooney Kagawa Welbeck
Van Persie

edit: Valencia out

Yes please.

Nani is well off the boil right now. Give Danny the nob.

We should win this. That attack, on paper at least, is sexxxxy. Just needs games to find their rhythm.

Easy.

I reckon we're going to give Spurs a whooping.

So much quality in all the line-ups being posted.

Anderson should get a start imo. I am his harshest critic but he was great mid week.

-----------------------------Lindegaard--------------------

--Cafu---------------Rio--------------J. Evans------Evra--

-----------------------------Carrick-------------------------

--------------------Scholes-----------Anderson-----------

-----Rooney--------------Van Persie----------Kagawa---

Prediction:3-1 Rooney, RVP, Kagawa
Subs: De Gea, Buttner, Wooton, Cleverly, Nani, Welbeck, Hernandez

DdG
Rafael-Rio-Evans-Buttner
Carrick
Cleverley-Kagawa-Anderson
Rooney-RvP

Keep Rooney as the pressing shallow player and dropping back to support the deeper three with Carrick playing static in front of the back four.

We're going to need someone marking Dembele a treat while our 3 keep Sandro busy.

Nice 11 but in all seriousness you couldn't play that formation and we have never man marked the likes of Zidane before and you are wanting us to man mark Dembele??

De Gea
Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Rooney Kagawa Welbeck
Van Persie

edit: Valencia out
I want to see this, pretty much. Although I wouldn't mind Welbeck dropped for Cleverley to bolster the middle of the park a bit more. Something like this even though it looks a little odd:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Cleverley
Rooney Kagawa
Van Persie

But I reckon we'll end up with:

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Nani Carrick Scholes Giggs
Rooney
van Persie

I would expect Lennon and Dembele to cause us a lot of problems if this is the case.

Either way, I do fancy us to do enough here to win, gonna say 2-0.

I really hope not Carl :(

Why's that mate? Is it the Carrick - Scholes thing?

I agree we need to make more of an effort to phase Scholes out of the side but fact of the matter is Anderson and Cleverley have to show they should start instead. Which neither have done so far. Hopefully both will kick on from good performances on Wednesday.

If we use the formation we used midweek then this could be quite interesting:

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick
Cleverley Anderson
Rooney
Welbeck Van Persie

Maybe Kagawa instead of Cleverley or Anderson.

Zidane and Dembele? What?

Spot on, my thoughts exactly, but I still think we'll play scholes again, and Welbeck in for Nani probably.

edit: United have amassed 54 points from a possible 60 in home Premier League meetings with Tottenham.

Keep to your original team IMO,

Make a choice between Rooney and Kagawa [playing both is the asy way out ], the other can always be introduced alter. Furthermore we don't want to be lessening our strength in midfield, let's hold our own their for a change.

Yeh I suspect we will go with our more usual formation. That formation we played on Wednesday might have been a trial for all we know though given Young and Valencia are both out and Nani is off colour.

I personally hope Nani playes though. He always seems to do well against Spurs.

Against Lennon (in the form he's in) Evra will badly need support and with Young and Valencia out I don't think we have a choice but to start Buttner. I don't expect this to happen and so it's likely Lennon will spend a large portion of the game skinning Evra.
Rafael and Nani should be able to deal with Bale on the other side.

I'd go

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Nani Carrick Anderson Buttner
Rooney van Persie

Spurs are crap, and if we perform to the standard we can, we should roll over them. But things are never that simple, are they?

I'd like to see:

De Gea; Rafa, Rio, Evans, Evra; Carrick, Anderson, Kagawa; Rooney, Nani, RVP.

Spurs have been dire every time I've seen them this season. ...
Well, I don't know which games you saw (or didn't see), but we've only lost one game so far - the opening game of the season - and Newcastle were a bit lucky to win that.

I'd agree that we've been poor in parts of some games (the first half against QPR for example), but generally the performances have been improving bit by bit as the team gels further with AVB's approach. And in one or two games (against Lazio for example) and in parts of some other games I've been quite impressed.

Of course our record against Man. Utd is terrible. This is especially the case at OT, but then again we've sometimes been on the receiving end of some dreadful refereeing decisions in this fixture.

All in all I think that AVB would have needed a bit more time at the helm before I could be optimistic about getting any kind of a result in this match. However, it's possible that we might get a draw.

4-2-3-1

----------------------DDG (probably be Lindegaard)

Rafael--------Rio-------Evans------Buttner (probably be Evra)

----------Cleverley---------Anderson

Nani-------------Rooney------Kagawa (tucked in)

-------------------RvP

*Carrick will probably be there in midfield,& rightly so. Though from a personal point of view, I'd love to see the fast paced, energetic football from the above lineup. It'll probably end up being too open a game though!

this please  can't wait to see RVP and Rooney combine.

This really isnt going to be easy. Spurs usually give us a scare.

If we get the midfield wrong and concede the initiative in the first half to Spurs, i'm thinking a score draw sounds likely. 2-2 perhaps.

you could say that about a few of our games this season, yet we've manage to get the result.

If not for Shelvey i doubt we'd have managed to do so last week.

Carrick-Scholes will be in the centre of the park. Everything points to it. RvP up top obviously. The three other slots are the question. I'd hate it but I could see Fergie being tempted to play Giggs again.

I want

Carrick-Scholes-Ando
Kagawa-Nani
RvP

I expect

Carrick-Scholes
Nani-Kagawa-Giggs
RvP

I'd be surprised to see anything else to be honest.

hard to say, seen to many games this season (albeit in many leagues) games of two halfs. Don't get me wrong I dont think we would have done a complete 180 but the way we squeak games had filled me with a bit of confidence we would have been in the game till the end

what no Rooney?

aye, I think RvP/Rooney is a lock to start. We are at home to a team we usually do well against and rooney got a hour under his belt midweek. With Nani's training bust up and someone mentioning Valencia out the wing positions will be interesting to see.

.... and the myth lives on.

Not really a myth though. It was kind of frightening the ease with which he just brushed past our midfield and charged through but with Carrick in midfield this time, we should be dealing better with the Dembele threat.

I refuse to believe we'd start Giggs and Scholes together in a home game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nani dropped, so we might go wingerless as some have suggested. Almost certain Rooney will start.

I'd expect:

DDG
Rafael-Rio-Evans-Evra
Carrick-Cleverley
Kagawa - Rooney - Welbeck
RVP

I rate the Spurs but feck off with the ref bullshit.

If we decide to go wingerless, then I would like to see something like this:

De Gea

Rafael----------Rio---------Evans--------Evra

Kagawa
