CFR Cluj v Manchester United

Will be the same formation we played against Liverpool, front 3 with Cleverley and Anderson pushing up to exploit the wide spaces.

You mean Newcastle probably.

Am I the only one that notices RvP moving to the side often in games?
I mean, it's something I wouldn't even mention if there wasn't so much talk about "no wingers" and that giving us "no width".
Not saying it's the same thing, but you can still play the ball out wide in a 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1, heck even Hernandez is adaptable enough to sometimes hold the ball out wide and start an attack that way. (granted he's only just started to do it, but it should be obvious right now that not playing 4-4-2 doesn't in any way have to mean we lose our width).

You aren't the only one. All of our attackers are very mobile even Chico who is characterised by many as a goal hanger. I imagine we'll attack a lot like we did against Newcastle in the league cup with the front 2 running the channels and, at times, mimicking the Barca strikeforce: forwards drifting out to the flanks and then darting into space feeding off the work of the false 9.

I can't complain. I wouldn't have minded Nani starting on the left or the right, but he can always be brought on incase we need more penetration. Enough of that naive 4-4-2 bollocks.

United - De Gea - Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra - Anderson Fletcher Cleverley - Rooney - Hernandez v Persie

Great line-up!

I would've loved to see Kagawa in there instead of Hernandez, but it's still a good team on paper.

Awesome line up, no idea on the formation yet though. We've clearly not settled on a tactic yet.

Bench: Lindegaard, Wootton, Nani, Buttner, Kagawa, Powell, Welbeck, Bobby Charlton

So a 3 man midfield, and Rooney playing just behind RVP, who's a little behind Chicha?
Something like 4-3-2-1?

Ah, a sensible starting XI with energy and pace in midfield; no chance of 4-4-2 or wingers pumping in cross after cross.

It's bound to blow up in our face, too good to be true.

Looks good to me. My only worry about it is looking at our next game and thinking we'll just go back to putting Anderson and Cleverley back on the bench.

Wonder if we line up similar to how we did against Newcastle. I hope so otherwise it means players out of position.

Bench: Lindegaard, Wootton, Nani, Buttner, Kagawa, Powell, Welbeck, Bobby Charlton

That reminded me of a silly basketball discussion I had a long time ago: each team would get one 'Team Legend' (50 yrs and older) substitute. Any points scored by this sub count double. If the legend is over seventy, it's pts x5.

Pleased to see Rooney starting with RvP, I really think he was top notch when he came on against spurs. Also glad to see Ando back, hopefully we'll have more of the same from him this game.

I predict Van Persie being dropped for the weekend.

''Fletcher, who got 11 or 12 minutes against Galatasary''

Dont mention the 90 against Everton, Brian.
