Aston Villa vs. Manchester United

our tempo is way off, too slow altogether especially from midfield. our passing is poor aswell. We really need to test Stevens down his side, Valencia is the one who looks like he is making his 2nd ever competitive start, not Stevens.

Deserved lead for Villa too, we are shocking.

Hard for Valencia when they have 2 and 3 on him its a struggle but when the ball gets switched to Young he cuts back even though he's one on one brutal performance by him contributing nothing going forward in the first half.

I thought we've dominated possession and kept trying against a very well organised unit.

Honestly, this is how football matches go sometimes. Seen it plenty of times this season from us and other "big" teams.

Good news is our fantastic bench will hopefully come into play.

Dominated possession. Get in!

Does anyone else feels that we are 0 dimensional when Scholes starts. Give him the ball, then he passes to wingers, every fecking team know it and we continue to do it.

Ashley Young...bottler. Need to get Rooney on the left and bring on Hernandez. Woeful first half but get our act together and I can see a 3-1 (Rooney, Hernandez 2)

What exactly does Fergie see in the Scholes-Carrick combination? Repeatedly it cedes control of the midfield and we find ourselves on the back foot. It is so obvious.

Is Fletch on the bench btw?

Right now, there is no point. People moan about Nani but at least he tries things and can unlock defences. Valencia when he can't cross is basically useless.

He can't even cross it in anymore. He gets the ball in good positions, waits for everyone to come back and mark him and then he gives it back to Rafael or Carrick. We might as well just swap Rafael and Valencia. Atleast Rafael does something going forward.

Scholes and Carrick DOESN'T work at any away ground. You know the other team will come out with lots of energy and although Scholes and Carrick are very good with the ball, they lack physicality and energy.

So..... our players with drive and energy are needed for these games.

Anderson and Cleverley DING DING DING DING

If Valencia is refusing to take his man on he's got to get the ball into the box. He serves absolutely no purpose cutting inside and passing it back to the midfield giving the Villa back-line to reorganise.

Young and Valencia getting owned by two young and inexperienced full-backs. They need to do better if we are to get anything today.

The problem with them is that they're too predictable, they have this set routines and they don't even try to throw a change once or twice just to create some surprise and put some doubts into the defenders.
I'd settle for a point

What is controlling a match ? Just keep passing it to your buddies along the half way line?

When will SAF realise what most on here know, you can't start a game without a runner in central mid. Playing Scholes and Carrick was always going to result in that shite football, where we have lots of possession and do nothing with it. Every attack we try to muster, has to go though Scholes and by the time he's had a look up its too predictable.

Scholes off for Cleverley and if we still aren't breaking through Carrick off for Anderson.

Our game plan seems to have been pass it aimlessly in the safety of midfield before working it to one of the wings for a cross we don;t get to. We have two strikers who are great with the ball at their feet but who are being asked to compete for box scraps.

Valencia is hitting the defender even when there's only 1 there. He's been awful.

I wouldn't blame the wingers, they get isolated on the flanks and are expected to deliver an inch-perfect cross in a crammed box, not to mention beat the fullback and his support all by themselves. I would encourage the wingers to challenge the defenders more and ask Rafael and Evra to overlap more. Also, not overly impressed with RvP and Rooney on a level field, either one should be sitting deep.

Rafael and Evra have been our only wide threats. Rafael has crossed the ball 5 times, as many as Valencia but unlike Valencia one actually found a United player. Evra has been more of a dribbling threat on the inside with only 1 cross... But thats only 1 less than Young. I dont think 6 crosses from our wingers is that much or predictable from 70% possession over 45 minutes.

Sure it's hard for him but he has to be more decisive. He should have the quality to beat them

Deserved goal.

Smalling collapses to the ground like a ragdoll and De Gea (predictably) makes a complete mess of it.

The fact that you're actually saying "predictably" is just definite proof that you're a complete retard. Well done.

Have to share this lucky moment with the caf. I looked at my betting account and noticed my bet for us leading in halftime didn't go through. I thought I had the bet in but somehow something went wrong and the money is still there. Hope this is some comfort for the rest of the caf as we're having a mare out there tonight.

PS I will now use the money on us turning this around in the seond half!

The wide players not for the first time this season have been poor, Valencia not taking on his man enough and Young, well tbf he's probably a bit rusty but he just always seems a bit clumsy on the ball, doesn't have the power of Valencia or the control of Nani.

Tbh most the team has been off par again with the exception of Carrick who for me has done his job well and is trying to do something centrally, everyone else is just recycling the ball without taking any responsibility to make something happen. RVP and Rooney haven't been on the same wavelength either.

Either way would expect the players to play better now they've gone a goal behind but at some point you have to wonder what's happening in the build up to games to make us continually so lacklustre in most games until we go a goal down.

It was straight at him. He stood there like a lemon and it went over his head.

Struck beautifully, keeper saw it late. Would've been a brilliant save had he got it.

Maybe we should query where the feck were Carrick and Scholes? How was he able to ghost into the box with no one tracking him?

It makes us fecking lethargic. They both take about 5 minutes to pick out a pass thats actually going forwards. Neither are capable of dribbling the ball for more than a yard forwards either. Bloody villa must be counting their lucky stars that their shithole of a midfield are able to just stroll around and pack the box without worrying about our midfield threatening at all.

This is so dull i almost fell asleep, thank feck they scored so something entertaining might happen in the next 45

I don't know why they're pushing this ''Was it a foul on Smalling?'' line.

Smalling tried to go shoulder to shoulder with him and bounced off him.

If the passing is off the least we could do is close them down and make things uncomfortable.

Fck me, has Valencia put in a decent cross all game long.

People complain about Nani, but at least he can dribble.
