I was going to post exactly that line up.

We are allowed to dream aren't we?

I think Valencia & Young are guaranteed to be included, possibly Scholes too.

de Gea

Rafael
Ferdinand
Smalling
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Cleverley
Nani

Rooney
van Persie

SUBS: Lindegaard, Jones, Anderson, Scholes, Giggs, Welbeck, Hernandez.

All out for goals, boost the GD whilst remaining solid at the back, go top before Sunday to put pressure on City before they go to Chelsea.

De gea
Rafael Ferdinand smalling evra
Valencia cleverley Anderson nani
Rooney van Persie

Funny how I consider this to be probably our most effective and exciting lineup (without Vidic) yet I know we won't ever see it most likely. Will probably be young for nani and Carrick for Anderson, and scholes for cleverley. If it is then ill expect a bore fest ending 1 or 2-0, but if its the first lineup then 6-0 :)

The side I'd like:

De Gea
Rafael---Smalling---Ferdinand---Evra
Carrick
Cleverley---Anderson
Rooney
RVP---Welbeck

Tactics: feck. Them. Up.

Stick Chich in for Welbeck and looks perfect.

That was actually my first thought, but as Hernandez played the full game tonight on top of the majority of Norwich then I went with Welbeck. Either way, that is the type of line-up I'd like, but sadly we won't see anything close to it.

Three games in a week for Carrick with Scholes and Giggs left at home for the CL match? Fergie is far from signing up to CNA but...

Parks' legs may have gone he'll get a good reception at OT i am sure.

Really, what makes you say that?

I am certain it's in Ferguson's thoughts, we've played the diamond a fair bit this season and considering how bad our wingers have been I think he'll look to play it again. Tonight was another chance to look at the system IMO, think he will have been happy with what he saw.

I'd be very surprised if he plays the diamond at home to a bottom half club, and if Valencia, Nani, Giggs and Young are all fit (regardless of form).

I don't see it as inherently a defensive formation at all, so home/away doesn't matter. Like any formation it's how you play it, how high your line pushes up, how far you press, how much the fullbacks push forward etc.

I agree that he should be pleased with what he saw from the Galatasaray side, but I think Sir Alex's usual strategy of two wingers, two strikers, and then whatever he has laying around in central-midfield will be what we see - particularly at home against the team bottom of the table.

So I'm thinking the best change that can be hoped for is Cleverley in midfield, otherwise it'll be the wingers again regardless of form, and likely Scholes in the centre with a must-be-knackered-by-now Carrick.

Yeah maybe, I just don't see the point of his fecking around with it if he isn't going to use it, doesn't make any sense. If he's planning on using it some point or he has considered it, which I'm certain he has, then now is as good a time as any to try it out full strength, against a shit side at home when our other options don't deserve to start anyway.

I agree, and I hope we do see it - but I'm not expecting it; old dog, new tricks and all that.

Same line up except Evans for Smalling if he is back from injury yet.

Teams need to be properly motivated to come to Old Trafford and get something from the game. I don't see that happening with QPR. From what I've been hearing, none of the players particularly care for Hughes and wouldn't mind seeing a new manager brought in. Basically, they're not too arsed about results at the moment.

Remember Blackburn last season? Stranger things have happened.

We're currently on a 2 game losing streak.. there is absolutely no way that we'll lose this (I hope). We are up there with the best in the league, they are probably the worst. we're at home. If we don't win then we don't deserve to be anywhere near the top.

The bottom of the league team at Old Trafford almost assures we go 4-4-2.

De Gea

Rafael
Rio
Smalling
Evra

Young
Scholes
Carrick
Giggs

RVP
Rooney

Cue QPR's best performance of the season...

Park is their captain.

*****

This could go either way, a really tough game or a really easy one. Ideally I would like us to put at least 5 past them for giving up and allowing City to win the title in the last few minutes of the game.

Team I would like to see:

DeGea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans/Smalling Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Rooney
Nani RVP Welbeck

Team we are more likely to get:

DeGea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans/Smalling Evra
Valencia Carrick Scholes Young
Rooney RVP

I'm sick of 4-4-2 and the brainless football that results.

It's a good opportunity against a poor side to experiment with more fluid formations than 4-4-2, which, frankly, is outdated and shit to watch.

I prefer three in midfield rather than a "diamond" if we are dealing in semantics, which means Rooney can play further up than if he was the "tip".

However we set up, can we PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NOT play Young and Giggs?

Wouldn't mind seeing Scholes and Giggs start this one since I'm going to be at the game. Might just be the last time I get to see them live.

Good thing QPR didn't appoint a new manager for this one, they would have been well up for it. I think they'll sack Hughes once they get this game out of the way.

Also, this is as good a game as any for Valencia to get some form and confidence going up against Traore.

They may be up for it anyway, but an early goal will mean a question of how many...

The later we score the more confidence they will gain - I just hope we stop fecking around and just go for it right from the kickoff.

I don't know about that, I've seen 3 of their matches this season and they've really been awful. Completely disjointed, no spirit or fight whatsoever. Even if we do our usual slow start, we really should be winning this. This is the easiest game in the league right now.

But yeah, it would be typical if they saved their best performance for us.

No no, I agree they are shit, just look at their home game against Reading. All good positive intentions, then a messy Reading goal and that stuffed them!

Didn't see their game against the Saints but I imagine the pattern was similar.

I am just applying the fact that we have not been killing teams from the outset. And this is undoubtedly an excellent opportunity to improve the goal difference - I just hope Fergie doesn't do his usual and start resting the strikers once the game is safe. We want the Rooney and RVP out there for the full duration.
