Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

Bale thinks he is Ronaldo. His freekick technique is the exact same.

Me either. Who gives a feck what your FK technique looks like if it works? What's so bad about trying to emulate one of the best FK takers in the world?

I have no idea what everyones problem is with this.

Why, who has a problem? I couldn't give two hoots, I'm just pointing out the obvious. Bale would bum Ronaldo.

"You're just a shit C. Ronaldo"

As I have mentioned many times before, the likes of Ronaldo and Drogba were influenced by the great Juninho who played for Lyon. He was the one who created the free-kick that wobbles in the air, which was the same gesture Mourinho used(or was it Ronaldo last season) when he demonstrated with his hand. I believe it is called the "Swerve of the snake." In any case, the only thing that was copied by Bale was the Ronaldo stance and that was it.

Bale isn't pinning back his ears, styling his hair, or cutting in like a inside forward (to his detrement) to be like Juninho though.

Swerve of the snake!

That's an Indiana Jones adventure.

Seriously though, Ronaldo is a great free-kick specialist when he hits the ball with pace, but when you can either strike the ball as hard as you can from 40 yards and still beat at that time, one of the best keepers in the world; Oliver Kahn, as well as hitting a free-kick a la Beckham, then that just tells you how special Juninho really is. Any football panelist would say that he was and probably still is the best dead-ball specialist in the world of football.

Again, very true, but if ever I was a manager and my team had a free-kick and there were Juninho, Bale, Ronaldo or even Messi, I would ask Juninho to take it, such is his brilliance, quality dead-ball specialist. Anyway, I am out for the night so, have a good one guys.

Oh no doubt. Ronaldo is hit and miss, likewise Messi. Anytime I seemed to watch Juninho in those positions, he'd mostly find the goal.

but he's imitating Ronaldo, a guy with a relatively poor success rate from FK's

I know what you mean but it just looks ridiculous for me, usually players have their own style, he's just become Ronaldo lite.

He barely touched the ball in the second half.

This is a classic ... which reflects the general tone of this thread.

Bale completely makes the 1st Spurs goal (single-handed, starting from the half-way line) and scores the 2nd.

But hang on, he can't be that good after all because ... wait for it ... he "barely touched the ball in the second half".

Bale is the footballing equivalent of an tribute act. It's like going to Las Vegas and seeing someone put on a white jumpsuit and sideburns, scoffing a cheeseburger and belting out Elvis tunes.

Entertaining, but deep down you know it's just a pale shadow of the real thing.

He's never had a run anywhere near as good as this one. And this was against a good liverpool side, not the mid table crap that was out there tonight

Wait a minute I've never been one to criticise his talent. A comment was made with regard to him looking like "the new Best" in the motd highlights so I stated the fact that he barely touched the ball in the second half. Which he didn't as ye were totally outplayed by Liverpool for them 45 minutes. But jump to conclusions all you want, I'm sure he wont that be "that good" next season when he leaves ye useless cnuts.

and its not shitty defending when Bale runs in a straight line or when a keeper lets him score down the centre of the goal?

God, you really do get butt-hurt when someone doesn't get down on their knees and fellate Bale for how amazbale he is.

Bale is an overrated chimp. It's Liverpool, stop verbally ejaculating.

I rather think it's the other way around, with many posters apparently outraged that the wider world regards Bale as a brilliantly talented, world class player. And the more he shows his talent, the more outraged they get and the more desperate become the cries of "hype" and "over-rated".

Mind you, that would all change in an instant if he signed for Man. U .

"World Class"

Jesus Christ. :lol::lol:

My brother genuinely believes he is on the same level as Ronaldo, and close to Messi.

To put that into context, Ronaldo and Messi scored more goals last season than Bale's appearances and goals added together. Absolute delusion.

You see this is what happens when labels like "World Class" are thrown around like Candy. You have good players like Bale, Fellaini, Michu and then you have truly world class players like the Barca trio, Ronaldo, Falcao, Rooney etc.

That was some run for the first goal and great assist as well, really made it like it's the easiest thing in the world to beat 3,4 players and then just knock it to someone on the far post. As for the second, was it deflection, can't really tell from the replay?

Bale would be great improvement for United, having him and Valencia as wingers would be terrifying, shame it won't happen though.

If Bale played for United, I'd expect he move forward as an inside forward. Except it wouldnt work as he RVP and Rooney would keep running into each other.

If Bale played for Barcelona he would be left back, a utility destroyer. A Brazillian fullback.

He's a very good player, but you go overboard on him. As do the media.

Is he world class? Maybe. Is he overrated? Definitely.

There's more to it than just the pose.Plus the pose doesn't make the strike, if Bale has the talent to hit it like Ronaldo then fair enough and good for him.The way he goes by doing it is pathetic, create your own style man and don't be a copycat.
@Glaston: You're only popping up when Bale or Spurs win to argue.

Looks like the bastard child of Ronaldo and a chimpanzee.

-Pinned back ears ✓
-White wrist tape ✓
-Flash boots ✓
-Same haircut ✓
-Same Free kick stance and technique ✓
-Ronaldo's ability ✖

Evidently. But there is a sensible middle ground - essentially that Bale is much better than a lot of people on here seem to think.

We've had all the questioning of his "level" and that's fine - but as he showed yesterday he's a very dangerous player, who, in my opinion seems to be developing well.
