I want to see us Ipswich them. 9-0 is not enough. I hope Fergie plays the video of their fans jumping up and down like idiots after the final whistle on the last day of last season to lads before the game so they come out ready to roll them.

Genuinely want Sunderland to go down. Would be awesome if we put so many past them that they ended up going down in 18th place on goal difference.

I used to like Sunderland and had some good times up there when they played at Roker, but that shit they pulled last season really soured me on them. I hope they get relegated.
 
Lets embarrass them after last what happened on the last day. If we go all out, and don't make weird changes then it should be doable because from what I've seen they have been awful.

Also, as far as I'm aware, Larsson is a winger but every time I see him he is playing in the midfield. Do they have injury problems or is Martin O'Neil being a bit of a spastic?
 
Same line-up as most people are posting. For me it's more of a 4231 than a 442, which is good. If Kagawa's fully fit and been training, I wouldn't be averse to giving him the start. If he's just getting back to fitness, give him 20mins at the end.

Let's make them wish they were dead. :devil:

Just saw that city will be playing Newcastle away next weekend. Even if they are not as good as last year it will be a hard match for city - might extend our lead to 8..

This, and so much more. I hope we absolutely smash them to pieces. Make no mistake, before the lads go out onto the pitch, SAF will remind them how the Sunderland fans celebrated last season. How they screamed like mad when word filtered through that City had scored the winner, how they did the Poznan and taunted our players.

I get that people hate us, I get that there's ABU's everywhere but to act like that after just seeing your team get beat is pretty sad and pathetic.

Stating the obvious, the main challenge for us this weekend will be the inevitable let down from Sunday. There's no way to avoid it altogether. The best Fergie can do to minimize the hangover is to some fresh blood on the pitch.

Maybe Jones for Rafael, who probably could use the rest (and some work on his hair). Smalling obviously in for Evans (how long is he out for?). I'd go with Evra and rest him when Rafael is back.

Carrick. Young. Rooney. Welbeck. Cleverley too, but this may be a good occasion to put Fletcher out there.

Let RvP ride. We can rest him later in the month.

De Gea, of course.

The head scratcher is how to get Valencia out of his funk. Do you bench him or do you play him through this? It really depends on the player himself. My gut tells me to let him sit this one out but then push him hard in the next few matches.

I assume Nani is a no-go from here on out. Hopefully I'm wrong about and that Nani sorts out his contract demands quickly and he flies high in red for the next few seasons.
 
There is no need to rest players at all, if they can't play two games in 6 days, they shouldn't be playing at all. After Sunderland, we have 8 day rest again, that's long enough for anyone. We can give our other players more game time though.
 
Actually for about the Sunderland fans on that last day, shows the mentality of fans in this country that they'd rather any win it but United even if their team lose at times. Now Liverpool v Chelsea you can understand but Sunderland? If they'd have played City that day and were safe they'd have wanted the loss too. I hope we batter them 5-0+ which is realistic at home. Our attack on its day is special.

And that's an important factor for Fergie to consider. The temptation is to field your strongest XI since there is the luxury of time before and after the game, but at the same time you do want to keep your "lesser" players sharp. You don't want to go crazy with rotation, but you pick your opportunities to give a player or two some extra time off carefully. Rafael and Evra come to mind, for example. Maybe one of them needs a few days away from the training ground altogether visit family or whatever, since Christmas isn't kind to English league footballers.

Maybe you put a player who's just returned from injury, such as Jones and Valencia, into the thick of things to battle-scar them for what is to come. Or you look at a player like Buttner, who's hungry for action, and reward him for good work on the training ground, even if Evra is fully fit and ready for duty.

It really comes down to the psyche of every single player and what he needs to do cope with things. It's always going to be difficult for us caftards to know exactly what every player needs since we're not on the ground to know what they're going through. Or not going through.

Rafael had a game and a half's rest before the City match, so should start again. Otherwise I agree with the principle, although it would be nice just once to play a full-strength side against a weaker team and really batter them. God knows we've missed enough opportunities to do that this season.
 
It's strange to see the hate in here. Seems to be more hate for Sunderland than QPR.

But, like everyone else, I also hope we batter them, put an an absolute bunch past them. Not seen us do that since that Blackburn game.

My uncle and cousin are both mad Sunderland fans, so I might even be going over with them for it, opposite ends of the stadium of course, the drive back could be rather entertaining.
 
If we don't win this one, we probably don't deserve to win the league. They are probably the current worse team on form.

I believe that was the first time last season we saw Rooney in central midfield, it was a bit of an odd formation, at times it looked more like a 433 with Nani joining the front line, iirc.

Cheech has scored a fair few goals against Sunderland so I wouldn't be surprised to see him start. But I said that last time we played them and he was on the bench.

Of course we played at their place on the last day of last season, winning 1-0, and put out this team:

That's pretty close to the team we put out against City, and closer to what I expect to see.
 
Sunderland have a very important midweek relegation battle (at home to Reading in about 6 hours time), we don't have any games. They might be exhausted by the time they travel to us. No excuses for not picking up 3 points, don't care how we do it.
 
Tues - Sat shouldn't really be exhausting. Don't think that'll be a big factor.
 
Let's hope we give Sunderland a bloody good hiding on Saturday, get that goal difference up and embarrass the bastards. Fergie and the lads will be well up for this and Sunderland are woeful.6 or 7 will do me fine.
 
Kagawa in for Rooney if he's ill, hopefully he can have a stormer and his confidence will shoot up.

He's been ill this week and cancelled a book signing yesterday because of it. Hopefully he recovers in time to start but I'd have him down as doubtful.
