Swansea City vs. Manchester United

Young and RVP have been fine in my opinion, Rooney has looked dangerous at times but the complacent touches have started to creep back into his game. Valencia is the one mainly at fault, he's slowed us down so much. I'm a big fan usually but I would move Young to the right and think about putting someone else on the left.

Carrick's been brilliant as usual. Cleverley playing well too, but it's pretty hard to get any meaningful attacks going when our wingers and Rooney have been utterly clueless.

We have been good attacking from the left and although he has been a touch wasteful, Young has been rather good I feel linking up with the front men really well.

On the other hand the right hand side has been rather poor going forward, mainly due to Valencia again seeming off the pace in both his play and reading of the game. It is a shame Nani is injured (or whatever he is right now) as he could put a bit of pressure on Valencia and give us something more on that side.

Carrick has been pretty good I think and I can't fault Cleverley either. Our CM's are doing well. They seem to be targeting getting in behind Evra and Young.

Why is Young getting so much stick? He's been running and at least trying to create something.

Valencia's confidence is worrying.

I concur.

Thing with Young is that he is not as productive with his left and our best play is coming down the left but at times it's easier to defend with only 2 genuine lefties

Valencia just needs one big run where he roasts the left back and makes an instinctive decision to cross first time, then he'll get his confidence back.

At the moment, it looks like he's been told that crossing quickly is a waste of the ball or something. Whereas before he'd lash a cross in, now he just stands there on the ball, and prefers to come back to defence then just risk it.

Just bloody risk it and fire one in!

Sorry it was the man that laid it off that he just leaves (after pushing him, in an off the ball incident). He just drops in and still doesn't get goal side for the rebound. Watch it again he shouldn't be leaving his man there. No way. Terrible defending from a supposed centre half.

If any centre back was responsible it was Vidic who dropped a few yards behind the rest of the defence to play him onside.

-22 seconds later that was
-Yeah, pretty much
-No, it's exactly that, Dwight. That's how time works.

they're pressing, we're not. they're making our possessions difficult. we're backing up and they rush in. we're lucky to be level. set val and bring on welbeck and return the pressure.

Considering they've had 43% possession I think that's quite the bollocks statement.

People find it suitable to say that we're not winning because of midfield on any occasion these days. Today midfielf has been our best formation.

Seriously, we should be up by 1 or 2. Swansea created next to nothing despite having the ball in the final third a lot. I generally thought RVP/Rooney played decent, Young is okay but very wasteful and Valencia was absolutely shocking. He needs to come off immediately or put into right-back for Jones, but he's fecking up attack after attack. Ironically he has completely lost all the pace (at the moment) in his game and therefore is pretty much useless for us.

Again we're not clinical enough though. Young and Rooney should've definitely scored. Now please don't make stupid substitutions Fergie... we need all three points.

Looking back at their goal, what the feck is Evra doing? Trying to play offside?

Valencia does that stance where he stands completely still and dummies the ball a few times. By then it's too late to gain momentum on the defender and he has to either pass back or attempt a cross in a difficult position.

Vida has also looked worryingly put of space. Btw has anyone else noticed that the space they seem to have given Rooney near the box?

Carrick's been our only good player, RvP has been ok. Everyone else has been rubbish, especially Rooney and Valencia who have been appalling so far. Need to score at least once more as Swansea have looked dangerous.

I wouldn't trust him with my Christmas dinner

He's been good today but he's not a brilliant passer under pressure. It's one of his weaknesses in my opinion and a major reason why we often struggle when we're placed under high pressure.

I think it's more down to a lack of options which is something we've had problems with in the past. Increasingly so the last few weeks we've seen much more movement in the attack, going short and long and with clev/ando in the middle it means there's more options for carrick to past too, where as in the past we've seen our attack be very static and far apart.

I guess they also have noticed that Rooney is playing drunk...

The only thing worse than Valencia's attacking in that half was the co-commentator.

Carrick made a brilliant long pass to Valencia who in acres of space and had time for a decent cross. His weak attempt made me jump out of my sofa

What are you on about? Carrick and Cleverley have been all over the place pressing.

It's not the best part of his game I agree, but it is underrated at the same time. He's done well so far under pressure, got a few passes away when he could have easily crumbled.

I want new wingers...

I'd be happy if we just had our best one back and tied down to a contract. No matter how shit Nani plays he at least creates something.

Young hasn't been too bad though.

replays just confirmed it for me, Evra fell asleep on their goal.

Ashley Youg needs to attack the balls whipped into the box.

We could do with Hernandez in some capacity, van Persie has to drop out wide to create something for the standing still Valencia and it leaves one player in the box.

Swansea have made us look hurried when on the ball, while we've barely been able to press them at all.

We have better players, but I think there's surely something we can take tactically from Swansea's example.

Vida has also looked worryingly put of space. Btw has anyone else noticed that the space they seem to have given Rooney near the box?

It's quite strange giving him his first start away to a pacy team like Swansea. Should have played Smalling or Rio today and started Vidic vs Newcastle.

RvP looks a bit tired to me, while Valencia has continued his bad form. Anyway not a thad bad first half considering how good Swansea are at home, though the defense should have done better for the goal.

Because he is usually outnumbered in midfield.
