The midfield was over ran because we had two "wide" players coming inside to help and their fullbacks we pushing on.
By swapping Nani for Kagawa as I suggested you stretch the play, force their fullbacks back and make the midfield battle less cluttered and a lot fairer. The last thing you want is their fullbacks adding width and them getting bodies in the box for them to target.
There's more to a game than keeping a player on the pitch because he looks lively with the ball.

The smart thing to do is bring on Cleverley to bring a proper balance and energy into the center of the midfield, which is where we were getting dominated, which ultimatley effected us in every area. You don't take off your best performing player for a player like Nani, who so far has changed NOTHING what so ever to the way the game was being played.
We needed a player to take control of the game, that player is never going to be Nani.
