Sir Ryan Giggs

23 league seasons in a row now that Giggs has scored in.

It's a record that'll never be broken in my view, or at least not in our lifetimes.

With games to spare. Thought he may need a PK after we wrap up the league to keep that streak going

How long will this legend of a man go on for? as SAF, he's a fantastic human being.

Still one of our classiest players. His fitness levels are still great too, the way he can keep running until the end of the game is superb. The only thing that has changed is recovery time inbetween games, he's been this way for years.

Giggs is the living proof that PED are used in football ;)

US sports journalist Bill Simmons said:
• Skip the Olympics (which has much stricter drug testing) in your prime for any dubious reason and you're on the list.

Enjoy your best season in years in your late 30s, four or five years after your last "best season," and you're on the list.

• If you're a skinny dude who miraculously managed to add 20 pounds of muscle to your scarecrow frame, you're on the list.

• If you chopped down the recovery time of a debilitating injury to something that just didn't seem possible a year ago, you're on the list.

• If you were really good and really ripped at a really young age, and now your body is breaking down much sooner than it should be breaking down, you're on the list.

• If you're exhibiting a level of superhuman endurance that has little correlation to the endurance of any of your competitors, you're on the list.

:nervous:

Doesn't quite fit though, as Giggs has been brilliant for the last two years as well

Banging younger women is the secret of rejuvenation. Giggsy did it, we saw the results, now Evra ALLEGEDLY did it, ergo, his revival.

Lesson for all the burnt out footballers out there, bang young chicks/relatives.

Fecking Cleverley is doing the opposite..banging an older women.:nono:

Giggs played in the Olympics.
His body isnt breaking down.

He isnt on PEDs... he's just a genetic freak

Wonder if Mourinho was scouting him today..

We are so lucky to have Giggs, I thought he was on his way out last season for sure after a few crap performances yet every time he's played this season he looks like our very own Iniesta talent and impact wise.

Cmon Plech.

No need to revise history he was dire at the start of the season.

Anyway, Long Live Sir Ryan. Can play until he's 50!

I'm not, you can read my posts from then if you like (like this one).

I think it was a mistake to start him and Scholes together a few times, and if he's in the middle I'd rather it was in a three. But I thought his poor play was much exaggerated, it was more a question of the team in general playing badly, and Ryan making the sort of creative but speculative flicks and passes that he always has done, and them sometimes not coming off as they always have done.

Not to derail the thread, but every time I hear this reasoning put out there, I think of Messi's horrific ankle injury last season:

He only missed TEN days.

Was great today. Only saw him give the ball away once?
Trust Giggs to play a crucial part in this league campaign.

Thought he did well today. Was looking like a much younger man chasing down balls and players. Really good to see him get the goal and keep the 'scored in every premier league season' stat alive.

Then there's that one pass from Giggs at the end, when RvP could've done better. He had some atrocious games early season; but he suddenly decided to become this good. It must be sex related.

Btw the goal was very good. Dummied the defenders with his touch and sent Howard the wrong way.

He doesn't play many games either and he was better when he was younger, IMO.

It doesn't really fit at all. If he starts performing like that whilst playing as many game as someone younger than him then you could get suspicious.

When Giggs scored his first senior goal, 7 of yesterday United's player haven't been born. Amazing!

He did give it away a few times. It is just his general technique that is such a high standard. His touch, vision, control and eye for a pass doesn't go when you're as talented as someone like him.

The execution might lower in terms of getting one of those key ingredients right. But the guy still clearly has the mental game and 70% of the ability to execute.

Phenomenal really. Still, getting sick of everyone going on about that wife thing but. Great player 'but' grates me to hell.

Giggs will always give the ball away in matches and we should know it, surely? He's there to try the unexpected, to attempt killer balls, to keep the opposition second guessing. If he wanted I'm sure he could just knock the ball 5 yards sideways everytime and have a pass completion close to 100% but that's not his style or role.

As for when he peaked it's hard to say as we're almost talking about two different players. The 90's Giggs was the most exciting thing in football when he was in full flight so that is what I always go back to. Can only imagine what a young Giggs would be like in the current game where 433/4231 formations are the norm & there seems to be more goals flying in than ever before.

Was amazing yesterday. Great finish with his right, fantastic work rate and caused no end of problems with his movement.

Christ, why do I ever doubt the man.

This is what we need to do, give him rests for a week or two and then unleash him in cup games. Unbelievable tonight.

Played great in one of the hardest league fixtures of the season, again I ask, why just cup games?

When you watch old matches back, it really reminds you just how good he was. It will sound bizarre but I even think he was slightly underrated. Most "casuals" or non-United followers will probably remember Beckham as the better player, but for me it was easily Giggs.

Absolutely no contest! Becks had a season or so where he performed more consistently, but in terms of talent, attributes and performances across his career, Giggs is in a completely different league.

No offence to Becks who was a terrific player, but Giggs was the best winger of his generation along with Figo. Becks wasn't even the second-best midfielder at United.

Neither was Giggs to be fair, but your general point is very true.

I don't think even most "casual"/ non-united fans would consider Beckham the better player; it was evident that Giggs clearly possessed superior talent.

It's tough because that midfield was so fecking strong. But I don't think there were 2 players better than Giggs. I'd say Giggs and Scholes is a toss up, Keane close behind which seems harsh on him because he was legendary, but like I say it was such a strong midfield.

Off topic: Can you imagine the midfield of 99 in today's Manchester United? feck me raw. Madrid wouldn't stand a fecking chance.
