Manchester United vs. Manchester City

Still fuming about Welbeck's failure at playing Rooney through at the start of the game, a decent ball there and he could have been 1v1 against Hart.

Yeah that annoyed me. He could have played it early as well and was a pretty simple pass. I don't know why he decided to go the other way and then subsequently lose it.

I'll take a "disappointing" draw.

Truth is, all that's left to do is lock up the prem title. No way will this United squad ever be immortalized as one of the greatest. So let's just get on with wrapping this thing up and going to work over the summer to strengthen a squad that's good enough to lift the English prem trophy easily but one that struggles in cup competitions.
That's not our strongest team out there so as usual, I have no idea what you're on about.

This. Rooney was in acres of space and we'd have been 1 up. Lord knows what he was trying.

3 changes when we are not even losing at half time?

Kagawa and Cleverley should in theory bring us a better degree of control in midfield. Kag's composure amid all that chaos wouldn't be a bad thing.

Nani can stay on the bench though.

Think we'll concede first, early in the 2nd half and Fergie will be forced to make some changes. Not sure what the answer is, to be honest. We need Welbeck out there to hold up our hoofing (which we've done a disturbing amount this season) and we need RVP and Rooney as they're our best attacking outlets.

And we need Young cause he actually defends pretty well.

Tough one. Would love another body in midfield though.

Have we looked better in a single second half this season?

Hernandez has to get time tonight if it stays like this. There's no reason what so ever that he shouldn't when you consider RVP isn't in any type of form that he was early in the season. Hernandez had an outstanding run at one stage, so if we need a goal, I don't any reason not to bring him on. Has to feature tonight but I worry he wont.

Silva is just so dangerous. It's virtually impossible to get the ball out of his control.

Unfortunately we've had little to no success whatsoever in exploiting the gaping weakness his freedom of movement alows defensively. Like with Rooney's goal where Barry has to come across and Silva is late back then doesnt track him, with Silva allowed to play everywhere around the box, he's rarely if ever in a position to help out when his team lose the ball.

City have thus far managed to defend our counters regardless

Really frustrates me how slow and predictable we are in the last third.

Danny is a local boy and is immune from criticism, no matter how shite he is as a striker.

And we have the gall to take the piss out of Torres.

Kagawa yes but Clevs hasn't looked that great of late

Sheer nonsense considering this is one of the greatest squads we've ever had.

I think he's been pretty average

We need a bit of luck. Most of the little decisions are going against us. We really don't start playing until our asses are on fire. I don't expect any substitution to happen until we are a goal down.

Not a good performance, but I have seen worse this season. Still I am thinking that we'll win.

Personally think Rooney wasn't quite close enough and that made up welbecks mind for him. Wayne isn't the quickest and the covering player may have got back to block.

He had to do better once he close to go on himself though

Rooney and Rafael has had fecking shockers. Rooney looks likely to be red carded.

I don't agree in regards to Rooney. I think he was our 2nd best player on the pitch.
Yeah he lost the ball a couple of times (most notably the stupid loss of the ball towards the end of the half), but otherwise he had as good a game as anybody bar Jones

Got to agree, take RVP off if its still not working abit later on, Rooney's been better for me.

Nonsense, when a player is in a better position, you pass it

Doesn't anyone else think that we need to bring on Cleverley for Giggs and try gain some foothold in that midfield battle that we're losing?

Yep, Jones has looked the most composed and calm player on the pitch.

Welbeck is literaly only missing finishing and better decision making IN THE BOX, otherwise he is one hell of a player.
I know that's not nothing, but I believe he can and will eventualy improve in those areas as well, and when he does he'll be one of the best players in the league, he's still very young and noticably improving.

That one pissed me off too. I get that a footballer gets big eyes in that situation, but you have to make the pass in that situation. Roo would have been clean through.

There's no point in substituting strikers. We are simply not creating enough chances. We need fresh legs in the midfield to help things out. sacrificing one wing for an extra midfielder in cleverley would do

If it were up to me I'd put Cleverley on in the middle for Welbeck, push Giggs to one of the wings and then put Nani or Valencia for Giggs later on. Don't think we'll see Kagawa in this game at all, doesn't really suit him. Would rather put on Valencia or Nani on the wings if we are subbing our wingers.

Excellent point.....
Clichy is marauding forward too much for my liking and it's because he knows Welbeck cannot hurt him. We need a genuine winger to peg Clichy back and play Danny elsewhere on the pitch.

Or Cleverley for Young? Either way he needs to come on. I said earlier he might not shine individually very often but the team plays better when he's Carrick partner that's for sure.

Welbeck's so confident in the middle of the pitch but as soon as he approaches the box he loses every ability he has. It's very strange.

claustrophobia maybe?
