Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

No idea how he can only be out two weeks or so. I've torn my ligaments before and couldn't play for a couple of months.

he's in the premiership, right now he's got a team of highly paid doctors looking after him, he's not at home with a bag of frozen peas on his ankle

I'm aware of that but it is still an incredibly quick recovery time. I have a feeling Spurs may end up rushing him back too soon.

True. Such an injury can happen in a training.

Tottenham played with fire, when they build their team around Bale and gave him so much freedom that they became hugely dependent on him.
Now they got burned. Let´s see how they will handle it.

I wouldn't call that playing with fire, it just happens to be that Bale is by far Spurs' best player. Why wouldn't they accomodate him to get the best out of him for the team ?

There's only a month of the season left. They will rush him back and he'll have the summer to recover properly.

Don't feed the troll Gormless. That last attempt was his worst yet.

troll? Any time I speak down about the guy it's trolling. At least wait until he's a United player being getting ridiculously protective of him

It wasn't a bad injury. People suggesting it was 'horrifying' are in a world of their own!

It purely depends on the severity of the sprain. Given Spurs' predicament they will rush him back and there will be a risk of re-injury, but his ankle will be heavily taped up so he should see out the season okay. And then he's got the off-season to sort out any residual damage/further strengthening.

You mean this instance?

2-3 weeks.

Yep thats what i was thinking off.

I thought Messi was out for months, he suddenly rocked up a few weeks later, i imagine Bale will be the same.

The injury looks horrible but the ligaments are like rubber bands, somehow your ankle joint can roll like that and still recover fairly well/quickly.

He needs to realise he's more Messi than Ronaldo at the moment, he needs to realise Ronaldo starts out wide and then times the moment properly when he drifts into goalscoring positions and if you're going to operate in the position he is, you need alot of quick ball retention and plenty of quality around you too..

He's having a torrid time in the center. His close control is not good enough and he doesn't offer himself often. City are congesting the area, when he can't run at players with the ball he's almost rendered useless.

Yeah. He gets the ball about 25 or 30 yards out and shapes to shoot/run at a defender. If he had quality players around him making runs then it'd cause indecision in the defence - do they commit and close down Bale, hold their position or do they track the runs. Instead Bale's teammates just stand around, there's no space for Bale to run at defenders, and so the defence easily close down Bale, forcing him to pass backwards or shoot straight into a defender.

What an assist. Terrific vision. I know it's lazy to compare him to Giggs, but that pass reminds me of Giggs' assist for Cantona in the famous Derby in '93. Not entirely identical, but the composure, vision and execution were very similar (2:00 in the video, although I don't think you'll need an excuse to watch the entire clip again :D ).

What a player. Easily one of the most exciting players in the league, and obviously this season has added end product.

Has a poor game overall. Still makes one and scores one. Standard. Footballer of the Year without question.

His ball across the box was the only option for him, you'd expect any top level footballer to make it and he scored clean through on the keeper.

Another £20m onto the price tag. Hopefully that doesn't cause too many tears

There's no shame in admitting you have been wrong for months and months. Anyone keeping up this sort of silly pretence has to be braindead.

superb player - has a bad game, is played out of position really and still is productive against City

has that ability like all top players that he could be quiet for 89 minutes but can still hurt you

I'd love to see us bring him in - Nani+ 20 million or Young+ 30

Bale, Zaha and a good central midfielder would be an amazing summer

wish we'd bought Dembele - thought he was good today as well

Try Nani + Young + 30 million and we might tempt them.

Pay the 50m, Fergie.

If we pull off the deal, we're suddenly in the hunt to compete with Barcelona and Bayern. I'm not saying we'd be better than either, but we'd be good enough to give them a sleepless night before the game. To get over the Barca/Bayern hump, Rooney would have find his game and we'd need RvP and Vidic to be in top fitness and form as well.

Fergie, you know what must be done.

TBF his general play in midfield was pretty tosh. But in the final third, he showed his quality with his excellent end product. Twice he was put through on the right, twice he came up with a goal.

So I guess I'm basically the only who didn't think his assist was all that special? It was a good ball but it wasn't really that amazing, and I'm not really sure why Kompany just stopped.

It was a great finish though.

Kompany stopped because the ball was undefendable. He was stretching to have any hope of getting it and if he touched it, it was very likely to end up in an own goal.

It was the ball every player would have played, and it came off because of City's comical attempt to play offside.

I know Bale's a really good player, but I knew if I spoke my mind the reaction to downplaying a pass from the caf's favourite son would be hilarious

Remember the goal Aguero scored at Old Trafford when everyone said 'Why did no-one tackle him?" That reminded me of some of Bale's goals when genuinely no-one has tackled him but strangely the reaction on the caf was rather different to him than Aguero :wenger:

Pretty poor game from really, although he still pulled out two pieces of brilliance. I'm struggling to see why people wouldn't want him here for anything less than £50m.

the main reason would be if we spent that kind of money on Bale we'd have pocket change for a midfield player which really is our priority

a top midfielder is a necessity
Bale would be a luxury

could only see that kind of signing if we cashed in on players like Macheda, Bebe, Anderson, Nani or Young

His first game back from injury, and some people expect him to put in a 10/10 performance, despite getting a goal and an assist.

Incredible RedCafe.
