Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

Even if its two weeks, at this stage it will be enough to feck up their chances for 4th.

Wenger will have his trophy after all.

As far as I'm concerned, if you place all your eggs in one basket you deserve it if you miss out. We got so lucky with Robin last year.

I personally, for some reason, don't think this will completely destroy their season. They're still tighter at the back, and they might just have to go down the route of nicking 1-0s.

That's what Europa League does to you. Can't believe a team with CL ambition put so much in to that when they have a fantastic chance of Champions League football with a top 4 place.

15 games from start to finish in EL. Too much to handle.

The Europa League does not break your players' ankles.

Bale did look tired tonight though, as did Parker, Dembele and even Vertonghen was getting burnt up.

Who really cares if they do? it means feck all at this stage, especially if we beat them on Monday.

Yeah if we win Monday then I don't care but incase we do lose then I'll be really hoping for a Spurs win because it's City's on remaining difficult fixture post Derby. Or atleast it was until this bale injury.

It won’t destroy their season, of course. But with Everton and City coming up for Spurs next, and the probability of Bale, Lennon and Defoe missing out, these become increasingly important matches.

Like I said before, if a team wants to finish fourth, they have to peak at the right time. By which I mean put together a few wins in April and May. Arsenal have a nack of doing that in the past, hence why I think they can do it again.

AVB reckons it is a swollen ankle, not as severe as first thought.

Good news (maybe) :

Andre Villas-Boas on Gareth Bale: "At the moment there is a lot of pain, but hopefully not bad as could have been."

True. Such an injury can happen in a training.

Tottenham played with fire, when they build their team around Bale and gave him so much freedom that they became hugely dependent on him. Now they got burned. Let´s see how they will handle it.

I agree, to some extent.

Another angle of this is the pressure that they might end up being under from us. This FA Cup game Chelsea have means Spurs have a weekend off, which means we're playing 3 games in the same time as they're playing 1. Suddenly, they might be playing catch up on both other clubs.

That said, knowing us we'll lose to West Brom on Saturday and let them off the hook.

AVB seems a little more positive, saying there's a lot of pain but it's hopefully not as bad as it might have been.
Said the same about Sandro in January, didn't he?

Though I think Bale will probably miss 1-2 games max. Strong as an Ox as 'Arry would say.

You must be lapping this up ( bar the injury), closing down on both of us and having a free fixture list whereas we have trips to Russia and fa cup semis to negotiate, and Spurs have hellish trips and half a squad, plus trips to Switzerland.

Or would you rather still have a chance at a double? :p

That was a rumour doing the rounds before the game with us though, so he might have lied about Sandro's situation. Much like Rooney recently who strained his thigh on England duty yet we all thought he was being rested for the Chelsea match.

This season is so crucial for us to finish top 4 because then we'll have license to actually spend some money in the summer. We only have to overhaul one of you.

I'm not really lapping it up because I've never really been that convinced that being involved in Europe really hampers any decent side's league form to any considerable level.

And yes, I would actually quite like for us to have a chance at a double. It's gutting we threw the FA Cup away, in particular.

I'd take the FA cup in a heartbeat over Europa. I think long trips can hamper progress, I feel Liverpool in particular have been hampered in a few of their recent seasons, by being in the Europa league. Now we're on the verge of the semis though maybe it is time to take it seriously, I was all for us going out very early on, but there's only a maximum of 4 more games now and one of those would be after the seasons ended.

Not sure if it's just a bad twist or not.

Looks more like ligament damage than a break, but still could be out for a good few weeks.

No doubt it would have swelled up like a balloon, they will have to wait for the swelling to die down before they can scan properly.

His ankle didnt stay floppy like valencias, he rolled it like Messi did.

Does anybody remember how long Messi was out?

That's a horrifying, horrifying roll of his ankle, which we've probably all had and not had grown men crying about.

Horrifically horrifying, though.

You mean this instance?

2-3 weeks.

Haven't you got the power to edit and spoiler that, Grinner?

Don't feed the troll Gormless. That last attempt was his worst yet.

No idea how he can only be out two weeks or so. I've torn my ligaments before and couldn't play for a couple of months.
