Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

So.. If this Rooney transfer happens, would Moyes want to make a statement and bid for Bale? You'd imagine he would have the funds and wages to do so after such a sale.

The way I see it, if Bale is available then we'll do our best to get him but Spurs selling to us would be a massive mistake with it being a signal of the club being happy where they are, especially after the progress they've made in the last couple of years. I can only see Levy selling abroad.

I understand Levy would only want to sell abroad, but the players normally have the last say like Van Persie.

It's the same with both Rooney and Bale, the clubs wont want to sell, but if the players have their hearts set on one club, they probably will end up there.

No reason that would be us tho, he's already had an opportunity to join us if it was his childhood dream. He might well fancy Spain. It's hard to say. Would be good if possible. Though I'd prefer a midfielder at the equivalent level if it was either / or.

If we do sign him I think it's important to get the deal done before selling Rooney.

A bit like how Madrid signed both kaka and ronaldo, if Tottenham know we have £60m available they will want the full amount. We might be able to get him for around £40m if we move quickly, and they miss the CL

Levy is way to shrewd for that. No way is Bale going anywhere on the cheap.

Glen hoddle the other day was saying they might not have a choice, they need to build a new stadium and raise 2-300m to do it.

He said the sale of bale may have to fund a good chunk of that.

obviously they may find other ways of doing it, but I can't see bale being happy chasing 4th place for much longer in his career.

If he really wants "brand bale" to take off, he needs to get to a much bigger club.

Surely Bale would want some of the United pie after seeing those scenes today. I fear he will be just out of our price range now until next year... I thought Spurs would need top 4 to make sure their best player remains but his value has just kept increasing. Unless he throws a hissy fit and demands to leave or Madrid go crazy and bid £60 million he'll be at Spurs next year.

Who was whispering?

A mate of mine knows someone inside the club. Apparently a couple different offer packages have been discussed. Which one gets made is dependent on where Spuds finish apparently. Could be BS but I don't find it unlikely that we're very interested in Bale.

Gareth Bale has never had an open opportunity to join us, because we were unwilling to meet the same price Spurs were offering to Southampton.

But regardless, I don't think he'll ever be joining us. Would love it if he did, he is a match-winner and he's the type of player who makes you get off your seat once he's on the ball, but I just can't see it happening.

Keep us updated anyway. As much as I think Bale is a massive gimp, he's got the right spirit for United and is an excellent player.

He'll leave I'm sure. Just for very big money.

Arsenal secure the fourth Champions League spot in all probability with Spurs in the Europa League.

This thread is going to be unbearable for the next couple of months.

Levy won't sell to us.

Levy won't sell to us and I think Bale will stay for another season at least anyway. He owes it to Spurs and I'm sure AVB will have told him that.

What about all that talk that he has a clause to let him go if they don't make the CL? Doesn't seem Levy's style. I'm sure he'd prefer a gentlemen's agreement, which he could later deny.

I can already foresee the newspaper back-pages in the summer. Especially if we decide to let Rooney leave..

"Moyes chases Bale"

"United in Bale bid"

"United bid for Bale due to fail: Levy puts foot down over Welsh winger"

They like alliteration. We'll see 'Bale Barcelona Bound' I'm sure.

All this "Levy won't sell to us" is bollocks. Sure he seems a tough negotiator but we only paid over the odds for Berbatov because City came in at the death for him.

Wenger "wouldn't sell to us" too remember, yet he did.

If a player wants to go somewhere enough, it will happen. Hopefully Bale wants to come to us and we want him. A deal will be done if those happen.

Does anyone have any source for this supposed 'Levy hates United' stuff or are we all just guessing?

The stuff that went on with Fryers? Plus he wouldn't want to sell Bale to any English side.

Gareth lad, pack ya bags you're moving to Alderley Edge

It's not about hating United - he's just going to avoid selling to the PL clubs at all costs. Selling Bale to another club above them would be a massive signal that Spurs are content with sitting outside the top 4 and you can be sure they'd be watching him bang in goals every other week.

I don't think Levy will block a sale if we went in for Bale, he will bend us over though.
Swap deal for Rooney?
It's been mentioned a few of times but they can't afford his wages and it would it be a backwards step for Rooney.

Leaving us to go to Chelsea is a step backwards too
